AN HOUR LATER

The hallway became quieter the farther everyone was dragged toward their assigned rooms, but unfortunately, 'quieter' inside this palace still meant emotional yelling, dramatic protesting, and suspicious flirting echoing through the expensive royal walls. Adam kept one hand on my lower back as we walked toward our chambers, while servants hurried ahead, carrying blankets, medicine trays, fruit baskets, tea, and, apparently, emergency calming candles.
"Why are there candles?" I asked suspiciously.
"They're lavender." Adam replied.
"That did not answer my question." I said.
"They're medically relaxing." He said.
"That sounds fake." I muttered.
Behind us another door slammed shut. BEN & LEON
"We are NOT sharing the bed." Ben snapped.
"That is unfortunate because there is only one." Leon replied calmly. Silence, then louder silence.
"You manipulated furniture?" Ben sounded horrified.
"I prepared emotionally." Leon answered.
