The second class began, Monster classe.
Deebt and Milly entered together and sat down next to each other again.
About three minutes later, a man with a neat haircut and a suit walked in, he looked serious.
He placed his briefcase on the desk and looked at all the students.
Ring, ring, ring.
The bell rang, signaling the start of class.
"Hello everyone, today is my first day with you, and I'll only be with you for the first three months, because as for the teachers who teach about monsters, they go on trips to the Horizon Gates to gather information in person."
"Sure, many other people gather information, but our role is essential. That's why we're rotated every three months, unlike teachers in other classes who might be prevented from teaching for a period of time for various reasons."
"My name is Thane Harry, and today's lesson will be about how to deal with monsters in their habitats."
The professor spoke in a confident, calm tone, unlike the first class when the professor stated her full name and it turned out her family was famous, here, no one cared about the professor's family name.
The professor began drawing a well known type of monster on the board.
Wolves.
"As you can see from your entrance exam to the academy, no doubt some of you have encountered these beasts, wolves."
"They are ferocious wolves. In the past, before the Horizon Gates and the System existed, wolves lived only in specific regions. But when the Horizon Gates descended, everything changed."
"Something changed in all living creatures, their nature, their behavior… Wolves were known as protectors of the vegetation, and their behavior was described as intelligent and social, as they lived in packs under a brilliant hierarchy for the survival of the species."
"There were rare reports 200 years ago of wolves attacking humans, but since the Gates opened, everything has changed. This animal, which never leaves its territory unless absolutely necessary, has now ventured out of it of its own accord."
"It destroyed every animal in its path and fought bears, lions, and tigers… This animal moved in packs, so it became difficult to defeat, and its physical structure changed due to the effects of the Gates."
The professor explained the nature of wolves and how they've changed over the past two hundred years, their behavior was like a fantasy tale, captivating everyone's attention.
"Although other creatures have changed, they haven't reached the wolves' ferocity in terms of killing, all for a simple reason: wolves are intelligent and strategic, not suicidal."
"And for the first time, official cases of wolves attacking humans were recorded. They ravaged them, wiping out many villages near their territories, and this is just one species, so imagine the others."
"Not all animals were affected, only those near the gates had their brains and bodies altered."
The professor gestured to everyone with his hands.
"If you found yourselves in an area teeming with wild animals or monsters, what would be your first action?"
Some students raised their hands.
"Run away."
"Fight."
"Set a trap."
"Climb a tree."
"Die."
Each gave their convincing answer, the teacher didn't ask why they chose those answers, he just smiled.
"Well, all your answers are correct. Some managed to run away, some fought and either survived or died, some set a trap and succeeded, while others failed, some climbed a tree and fell, or were caught by a wild monkey or a mad snake, and some died."
The students looked at him in shock, they understood what he meant.
"Everyone who came before you thought just like you."
"But there is a type of human who managed to survive and win, the hunter."
"You'll ask how? But the reason we understand the monsters and their nature, which has changed significantly over the past 200 years, is because of the hunters, it has become an official profession."
"Hunters observe the monsters, witness their behaviors and nature, and study them from the outside. Then it's the scientists' turn to study these monsters from the inside and identify the mutations in them and in their DNA."
"Why, then, can the hunter survive, but an ordinary human cannot?"
The professor fell silent for a moment and saw that everyone was paying close attention.
"Observation. A hunter is a calm person who possesses an immense amount of patience."
"In an area inhabited by another animal, whether affected by the Gate or not, calmness is essential for survival, whether that survival comes through killing the beast or through escape."
"So you're asking what you should observe? It's simple, your surroundings are the first thing. Footprints, droppings, the strong smell of urine, carcasses… Everything in your surroundings is a message to you that you must open and understand its contents precisely."
The class ended quickly thanks to the professor's engaging explanation and everyone's attention.
He left no question unanswered, explaining everything in fascinating detail with a unique style that seamlessly combined questions and explanations in a way that piqued the students' curiosity.
Deebt and Milly left the classroom and headed out for lunch.
Lunch was once again separated by gender, Deebt and Milly went to sit in the corner where they had sat before.
It wasn't long before Heri and Sky arrived, it turned out they were both in the same Group M, Classroom 10.
Meanwhile, Sam was in Group O, Classroom 7.
Sam wasn't far behind.
They ate lunch in a calm and pleasant atmosphere.
A discussion began among them about today's monster lesson, it turned out that the group Deebt was in had an entertaining professor.
Sam and Sky, on the other hand, described their group's professors as boring.
Heri didn't say much, she mostly just nodded.
Meanwhile, Sam and Sky were somewhat similar, strong social personalities and a bit of fun loving craziness.
Milly joined the conversation cheerfully.
Deebt didn't speak and continued to observe quietly.
Nothing had changed about him, calm and cold.
But in a way, he was enjoying it.
"Did I ignore all of this in my first life just to become an employee?" Deebt thought sarcastically.
Then he looked at his friends calmly.
It was true that he hadn't considered friendship to be anything at first, but he had changed.
"Guys, what do you think of me?" it was a surprising question for them.
Sam looked at him seriously, then laughed out loud.
"Hahaha, are you serious? Are you going to die?" Sam mocked with amusement.
"Just answer." Deebt didn't care about Sam's sarcasm, it was just his nature.
"Well, you're my friend and my rival too." Sam spoke seriously.
"A strong, crazy guy with a frozen face." Sky expressed her opinion with a clear smile.
Deebt didn't care and looked at Heri and Milly.
"Strong." Heri replied with a single word.
"Particularly eccentric." Milly smiled.
Deebt understood each of their opinions, though they hadn't said much, he grasped how they saw him.
Sam saw him as a rival, while Heri and Sky considered him a powerful beast, as for Milly, she expressed her affection in that way.
'Is that how I am to them?' Deebt smiled faintly.
Everyone looked at him and laughed at his rare expression.
