"Since class is over, I'll share with you what I know about how to increase gray matter. You might be surprised, because it involves daily practices."
Professor Larry spoke in detail, the history class was so engaging for the students that they didn't even notice the time passing.
Ring, ring.
The bell rang, and the professor left.
Deebt got up from his seat, left the classroom, went to the vending machine, grabbed a coke.
Then he sat in the high school garden, lost in thought.
...
Sam left the classroom and headed to class S, this was Jazz Jacks's classroom.
Sam knew Jazz, he was famous for being sociable and friendly, and he seemed like a leader.
But now Sam saw him in a different light, all because of Deebt.
Neither Sam nor the others knew that Deebt was the older brother, even if only by a few minutes.
Sam arrived and walked straight in.
Before him was a crowd of students, both boys and girls, who had gathered for one person: Jazz Jacks.
Sam wasn't surprised by this, Jazz was truly popular.
'How can he do that?' Sam wondered to himself.
He didn't really understand how Jazz could be so famous and beloved, he had something to offer everyone.
Sam looked at him intently but didn't approach, he wanted to observe for a bit.
In Sam's eyes, Jazz was king over everyone here.
The more he watched him and observed his behavior and the way he spoke, the more surprised he became.
Jazz was asking the questions, and the others were speaking exactly as Jazz wished.
Jazz was steering the conversation wherever he wanted, he never spoke about himself.
'What a person... Is he analyzing them?' Sam thought for a moment.
Jazz was truly terrifying, even in his conversations. He made others feel hope and confidence, as if he were a vast oasis in the middle of a barren desert.
Jazz was able to manipulate their emotions, every question he asked was precise and hit the mark.
'Why are these two brothers so terrifying? Deebt is gifted with the night talent, and Jazz is terrifying as a person, he's like a hunter. Is his talent that exceptional too?" Sam thought, then slowly approached Jazz.
Jazz noticed Sam as he smiled at a girl with blonde hair and mesmerizing blue eyes.
She was a stunning girl by any standard, but Jazz smiled just like any ordinary smile, his expression didn't change much just because she was beautiful.
He had merely met the minimum requirement of human behavior: smiling.
'A scary mask.' Sam thought as he got closer.
"Hello everyone, hello Jazz, I came to talk to you about something important." Sam said confidently and politely.
"Sam Lucas, right?" Jazz asked.
"Yeah, I'm in the same class X, just like Deebt." Sam said.
"Alright, let's talk. Sorry, guys, I'll be back soon." Jazz spoke to the people surrounding him, then left with Sam.
Some people's expressions changed, some were disappointed, and some were angry, they wanted more time with Jazz.
Sam and Jazz went out, then headed to the high school garden.
From a distance, they saw Deebt sitting in one of the chairs, he looked distracted.
"Jazz, I talked to Deebt earlier about training with you guys. What do you think?" Sam was walking beside him.
Jazz looked at Deebt, then turned his gaze back to Sam.
"Did you ask Deebt?"
"Yeah, but he told me he trains with you, so I came to ask you. Even though I consider Deebt a friend now and see myself as his rival, you know him better, he's not very social at all." Sam explained his point of view.
"I see, my brother must have told you that to make me choose." Jazz said.
"What? So from the start, he wanted me to talk to you?"
"Yeah, Sam, but what did you mean by saying you're his friend?" Jazz's expression began to change, and he smiled sarcastically.
He knew Deebt, he didn't have any friends and didn't care about having any.
But Sam says he's Deebt's friend, wouldn't that be interesting for Jazz?
"I told him that after we passed the J Martin drill yesterday, we became friends. Hahaha, you know, he was annoyed and told me to just do whatever I wanted so I wouldn't talk to him too much." Sam smiled as he recalled Deebt's annoyed tone.
"Hahaha, that makes sense now. There's no way he'd agree right away, because he sees friendships as a nuisance."
"Really? What about Milly? Isn't she his friend?" Sam asked in surprise.
"No, he was… I don't know if I should say this, but my brother liked her and didn't see her as a friend. I don't think he ever thought of it as a friendship." Jazz said hesitantly.
"No need to hide it. He used to talk to her alone, doesn't everyone know he loves her? Even Milly herself loves him, I'm sure of it." Sam said casually.
"Do you really think so, Sam? How can you say that with such confidence?" Jazz asked.
"It's the eyes, Jazz. The eyes don't lie." Sam said proudly.
"Sam, don't tell me you only said that to sound cool?" Jazz said sarcastically.
"No, it's the truth. You might not realize it, but the way she looked at him was different. I'm sure of it." Sam argued, rejecting Jazz's suggestion that he'd only said it to sound cool.
"Fine, fine. Let's drop this, I agree that you can train with us, but you should know we train after school, and at four in the morning we do combat training. I'll go see the principal later to ask for permission for us to come to the gym early." Jazz said briefly.
"Okay, that sounds good to me. I'm in." Sam's eyes were ablaze.
"Okay, let's tell Deebt this now." said Jazz.
They were approaching Deebt, his expression hadn't changed at all, he was still lost in thought.
'Sam Lucas, you haven't changed a bit.' Jazz smiled to himself.
Jazz and Sam reached Deebt.
Deebt looked at them coldly, he didn't ask what they wanted, he seemed to understand.
"Hey, brother, I brought our friend here. Hehe, he'll be training with us from now on." said Jazz enthusiastically.
"I told you, Deebt, I'm going to train with you. Jazz agreed." Sam smiled confidently.
"Okay, but can you guys sit down? I want some sun, you're blocking it." Deebt spoke calmly.
"Alright." Jazz sat down next to Deebt, and then Sam sat down next to them as well.
"Brother, why are you so distracted?" Jazz asked.
"I'm just thinking about Milly. I said I'd go just so you wouldn't bother me, Jazz, but I don't really want to." Deebt said with a blank expression and a calm tone.
"Brother, just go. You're excused from training today. Sam and I will train to see what his limits are, and also to ask him about fighting and how he controls it." said Jazz.
"But I want to train." said Deebt.
"You can't, we'll train in combat at four in the morning. Go see Milly and try to clear your mind." Jazz spoke firmly.
Sam looked at Deebt and Jazz, his eyes were filled with surprise.
They both spoke beside him about their own affairs, making no secret of it, Sam felt both strange and happy.
'They really consider me their friend, two interesting strangers.' Sam smiled faintly.
"Jazz is right, do it." Sam interjected, but they didn't seem bothered.
"See, Sam thinks so too." said Jazz.
"Alright, I'll do it."
…
Deebt, Jazz, and Sam sat quietly in the garden afterward, talking about various things.
Jazz was enjoying himself, and Sam spoke confidently, while Deebt rarely spoke or interacted.
But they were a strange trio.
The next hour was free of classes, all because there was a meeting.
As it was time to return to their classes, Jazz got up and left first, then Sam and Deebt moved together toward the classroom.
…
After classes ended, Sam and Deebt went to meet Jazz, then Deeb said goodbye and left.
Sam and Jazz headed to the gym, specifically to the training section.
Because of the meeting, J Martin hadn't led class S's training, but tomorrow would be their turn, so Sam explained the routine to Jazz.
Then they began their own training, Jazz asked Sam to do various exercises to test his limits.
No one asked about the other's talent, what mattered now was the training.
…
Deebt's steps were slow and steady, he wasn't headed home, but was going to see Milly.
After walking slowly for a while.
Deebt finally arrived at Millys house, it was a traditional two story house.
Ring, ring.
Deebt rang the doorbell and waited.
"Hello, oh, is that Deebt? Wait, I'm coming." It was Milly's mother's voice, she could see Deebt through the door's camera
Milly's mother opened the door, she looked just like Milly, fair skin, long, silky black hair, and dark, enchanting brown eyes.
She was absolutely beautiful.
"Hello, Auntie, I've come to visit Milliy." Deebt said politely.
"But Deebt, you look much more mature than the last time I saw you. Has something happened to you?" Milly's mother asked, a look of surprise on her face.
"No, nothing has happened." Deebt said calmly.
If there was one thing intimidating about Milly's mother, it was her intuition.
"Alright, come in, Deebt. She's in her room, you can go there. I'll prepare some snacks so you can enjoy your time together." Milly's mother said, then headed to the kitchen.
Deebt climbed the stairs and arrived in front of Milly's room, he had been here several times before.
Knock, knock.
Milly quickly opened the door, took Deebt's hand, and closed the door.
Deebt was taken aback by what Milly had done, but he said nothing.
He sat down on a chair and looked at Milly with calm eyes.
"Milly, how are you?" Deebt said quietly.
"I'm fine. How about you?" Milly asked hesitantly, her shyness was evident on her face.
