Chapter 6 - " The Vanishing Point "

[STATUS: FINAL SYSTEM SHUTDOWN...]

[TIMELINE: 2012 – THE YEAR OF DISAPPEARANCE]

[CURRENT STATE: THE BLACK HOLE]

The final bell of the school year didn't sound like a victory; it sounded like a funeral knell. For the other students, it was the start of a long, sun-drenched summer. For Dev, it was the vanishing point—the moment where the boy he used to be finally dissolved into the shadows, leaving behind only a hollow shell fueled by chemical cravings.

The classroom was empty, the desks covered in a thin layer of dust that caught the golden afternoon light. Dev stood by the window, his eyes hollow and his frame painfully thin. He watched from above as Sandi and Anaya walked toward the school gates for the last time. They didn't walk together. Sandi was laughing with a group of boys, his easy-going nature having finally found a new anchor. Anaya walked alone, her head down, her silhouette a lonely mark against the sprawling playground.

[WARNING: LAST CHANCE FOR RECONNECTION]

[STATUS: IGNORED]

Dev felt a phantom pain in his chest, a memory of a heart that used to beat for them. But the 'White Escape' had done its job well. The pain was distant, like a radio signal fading into static. He reached into his pocket and felt the familiar crinkle of the silver packet Sia had given him earlier that morning. It was his graduation present—a one-way ticket to a world where he didn't have to feel anything at all.

Sia appeared in the doorway, her uniform perfectly pressed, her smile as sharp as a razor. She didn't say a word. She didn't need to. She owned him now, and they both knew it.

"The car is waiting, Dev," she whispered, her voice echoing in the silent classroom. "The city is big, and the shadows are much deeper there. You'll love it."

[NEW QUEST: THE CITY OF LOST SOULS]

[CONDITION: LEAVE EVERYTHING BEHIND]

Dev took one last look at the banyan tree, the silent witness to his innocent vows and his ultimate betrayal. He imagined he could see the ghost of two twelve-year-olds standing there, promising a forever that had lasted less than a season. Then, he turned his back on the window and walked toward Sia.

The move to the city was supposed to be a fresh start for his family, but for Dev, it was the perfect camouflage. In the sprawling, chaotic urban labyrinth, a boy with hollow eyes and a silent habit was just another statistic. He began to skip classes entirely, drifting into the back alleys where the 'White Escape' was sold in larger quantities and darker shades. His parents, caught in their own corporate struggles, only saw a moody teenager. They didn't see the monster growing in their own home.

[PHYSICAL DECOMPOSITION: 40% COMPLETED]

[MENTAL STABILITY: FRAGILE]

The breaking point came on a rainy Tuesday, exactly one year after his move. Dev had run out of Sia's 'gifts' and the withdrawal was a physical torture—a thousand needles of fire dancing under his skin. He needed money. He needed it now.

He found his mother's jewelry box on the vanity. As he gripped a gold necklace, the last shred of the old Dev screamed in protest. This was his mother's wedding gift. This was a piece of his family's history. But the monster in his brain was louder.

"Just this once," he lied to himself, the same lie he had told a hundred times before.

He sold the necklace to a shady pawn shop near the railway station. As he held the cold cash in his hand, he felt a wave of self-loathing so intense it nearly brought him to his knees. He realized then that he couldn't go back. He couldn't look his parents in the eye. He couldn't be the son they wanted or the boy Anaya loved.

[NOTIFICATION: ALL TIES SEVERED]

[STATUS: GHOST MODE ACTIVATED]

That night, Dev didn't go home. He boarded a late-night bus heading into the heart of the city's darkest district. He watched the lights of his neighborhood fade into the distance, feeling a strange sense of relief. He was no longer Dev, the boy who promised a 'Crimson Vow'. He was just a nameless shadow in a city of lost souls.

Sia was waiting for him at the bus terminal, a dark umbrella shielding her from the rain. She looked older, her eyes colder, already dressed in the expensive silks of someone who knew the value of human weakness.

"I knew you'd come," she said, her voice a purr of satisfaction. "The shadows always come home eventually."

[SYSTEM UPDATE: TIME SKIP INITIATED...]

[LOADING: TEN YEARS LATER]

[NEW STATUS: THE DRUG LORD OF BARRACKPORE]

Dev stepped under her umbrella, and together they walked into the darkness. Behind them, the bus pulled away, carrying with it the last remnants of a childhood destroyed by a secret. The 'Shadows of the Sixth Grade' had finally won. The boy was gone, and the predator was about to be born.
