"I can see at least 3 days into the future," Emily said while trying to stand up straight.
Nobody breathed.
Lysander's hand stayed on the doorframe.
'What? Three days means she already knew that all of this was going to happen? Does it reset every day? Does she see further as time passes? Damn, that's an op ability. But why is she telling them?' Emil frowned while looking at Emily, who kept her eyes on Lysander without acknowledging him.
"Emily, you don't have to." Emil tried to sound stern.
"I need to," She forced a smile at Emil before turning toward Lysander.
Lysander turned around with an ominous smile on his face.
"What do you mean, three days? Is this some webnovel plot?" He scoffed.
Emily looked down for a second as if the weight of something was weighing on her. She turned towards Emil, which made him twitch.
'Why is she looking like that? I hate those eyes... No.'
Emily shrugged as if trying to shed some weight.
"We are going to die," Emily said in a somber voice, trying to hide her face from Emil, "Both of us after meeting The Essentials."
There was not a single eye in the room that wasn't shocked at the revelation of this scale. Emil's senses collapsed; for him, everything and everyone around him disappeared. He was standing alone in the void while the cursed word from his sister was banging in his ear.
'Die... What? No, not again. But she must have seen it, wait... she can't see past the next 3 days... but essentially her power is foresight... that means...' Emil was devastated at the possibility of the answer.
Lysander's smile dropped for a moment, but the smile found its way back.
"So, it's not your ability that has a limit. You die along with that ability."
"Yes," Emily replied somberly.
The mood in the room was heavy. Emil was still lost in thought. Dr. Aria and Dr. Turner seemed to be lost for words. One could tell by looking at Gwen that there was a hint of despair in her marble eyes.
"Well, I guess it can't be helped then. It's not worth my time. Good luck, brats, for the afterlife." Lysander said in a casual tone while forcing a smile on his lips.
If it had been a moment ago, that would've irked Emil. But right then, it crushed him more. The weight of the known was drowning him in the depths of the unknown.
"But, wait, there is something more," Emily looked up at Lysander.
"More? Or are you trying your way to get out of this, brat?"
"I am not playing games, alright? I can see in fragments. I have... seen in fragments. This facility, this underground city, is going to be hit by a... catastrophe. A scale that it has never seen before." Emily said while trying to find the right words.
It seemed that Lysander was going to say something when he heard a deep, shaky voice asking the same questions.
***
Dr. Turner had not moved since Emily started speaking, listening to everything she had. But when she mentioned the catastrophe hitting the facility, Dr. Turner's shoulders dropped. He paled a little. He shook his head as if trying to swim out of the thoughts flooding his empirical mind.
"What do you mean, Emily?" He asked, but his voice was uneven.
"There is going to be a large-scale breach of the monsters and abominations, three days from now. I don't know how many, but at least about as much as the area surrounding the facility." Emily said while taking a step forward with the help of Emil.
"The facility ground, it's impossible, you are saying about 10,000 of those," Dr. Aria breathed, the coldness in her voice cracking.
"She's right, we never had that kind of breach, even the one today was somewhat of an anomaly," Dr. Turner added with a bit of gravitas in his tone.
"And that is the reason, I believe she is right, Dr. Turner." Gwen supported Emily.
"Why is that princess?" Lysander, who couldn't contain himself, asked with a frown on his face.
"That breach would have been understandable if it had happened outside the facility, right?" She added to her point in a serious tone.
Dr. Turner nodded at that fact.
"But it happened inside the facility, which means it is someone from the inside who helped that thing get in." She put her hand on her chin and explained.
"Are you implying that someone from the facility orchestrated the appearance of that abomination?" Dr. Turner asked, sweat dripping off his head.
"Not only that, but that person targeted Emily, which means the person knew about her prowess." Gwen pointed at the obvious fact.
Dr. Turner faltered, visibly shaken by the idea that the threat came from within the facility.
"Convenient," Lysander said. "All our suspects in one place." His grin was anything but friendly.
"Are you implying that a Doctor or a Warden from the facility is involved?" Dr. Aria asked in a trembling voice.
"Good job, Doc, you're catching up," Lysander said, pointing his finger at Dr. Aria.
"What's the benefit? Even knowing her Terma signal is abnormally high doesn't create a real problem." Dr. Aria made a solid point.
"Right on the money, Doc, but what if that Person could not only read the Terma signal, but also know what that Terma represents?" Lysander's smile was even sharper now.
Emil, while shaken, was visibly confused by all the information they were throwing around.
'10,000 Abominations... One could do that much... Blood everywhere... Someone from the facility wants us dead, but why?... Terma? What could that mean?' Emil looked at Emily, who was listening to the discussion. But he could tell just by looking at her that she was not really present there; she was thinking.
"And who said, Doc, that they have to be a Warden?" He smiled ominously while continuing.
The reaction needed no voice; on both doctors' faces, a subtle unease spread, like a stain Lysander's implication had left behind.
"The person can also be an anomaly. Don't they, princess?" Lysander turned towards Gwen with a wide grin on his face.
Every eye in the room was now turned towards Gwen, who had a discomforted frown on her face.
'What is the meaning of that? Don't tell me...'
