The moment Bomin steps through the orange archway, the air changes instantly. The sickly red haze is gone, replaced by a sky the color of burnt ash and clouds that glow with internal heat. The ground beneath his feet is hard and black, cracked like dried mud, and in the distance, rivers of glowing lava flow between jagged mountains.
"Welcome to the Ashen Wastes," Bomin murmurs, shielding his eyes from the heat. "Everything here screams "leave."
Bummer, now looking like a sturdy, armored badger-Everything here screams "leave." This place isn't safe. dark fur and glowing green eyes, sniffs the air aggressively. His ears twitch, and he lets out a low, warning squeak.
Something is wrong here.
As they walk along a narrow ridge, Bomin spots movement in the cliffs ahead. They aren't monsters—they look like people, but made entirely of living stone and magma. Their skin is hard like obsidian, and their eyes glow with bright orange heat. They wear armor forged from metal found in the core of the world, carrying spears that never cool down.
New Race Detected: The Ignis People
Habitat: Volcanic regions of the Uncharted Expanse
Temperament: Territorial, but highly intelligent
One of them spots Bomin and points a spear at him. They speak in a language of rumbles and cracks, like stones grinding together, but Bomin's Aether connection allows him to understand the meaning.
"Outsider!" the leader calls out, stepping forward. "You walk the path of the Great Eater. Turn back, or you will become fertilizer!"
"Great Eater?" Bomin asks, holding up his hands to show he isn't armed for battle. "I'm just passing through."
The Ignis warrior shakes his head, his expression grim. "The Spore Colossus blocks the path ahead. It eats magic… and it eats anyone who comes too close. Nothing survives its spores."
Bomin thanks them and continues forward, Bummer staying close to his heels. As they round a bend in the canyon, the path opens up into a massive valley.
And there, blocking the entire way, stands something that defies logic.
It looks like a mushroom, but grown to the size of a massive fortress. Its cap is wider than a castle, textured like rough bark and colored in sickly yellows and greens. Thick, pillar-like stems support it, pulsing with a disgusting rhythm. From underneath, strings of sticky webbing hang down, trapping rocks and debris.
But what makes it terrifying are the cannons.
Growing out of its sides are dozens of large, bulbous growths—perfectly shaped like heavy artillery cannons. They swivel slowly, aiming in every direction, waiting for prey.
*Creature Identified: ARTILLERY FUNGUS - COLOSSUS GRADE
Threat Level: EXTREME
Abilities:
- Spore Barrage: Fires explosive clusters of spores that detonate on impact.
- Magic Absorption: Drains energy from attacks to heal itself.
- Mycelium Network: Controls smaller fungi monsters across the entire zone.*
"Whoa…" Bomin steps back, pressing against the canyon wall. "That is not natural. That thing is literally a walking cannon tower."
Bummer whimpers, hiding slightly behind his legs, but his eyes are locked onto the giant fungus. he can feel the raw, chaotic energy radiating from it.
The fungus suddenly twitches. One of its artillery pods swivels directly toward where Bomin is hiding.
WHOOSH!
A green, glowing orb shoots out of the pod, exploding against the rock wall just meters away from them. Acidic spores spray everywhere, melting the stone into sludge.
"RUN!" Bomin shouts, grabbing Bummer and diving into a narrow crevice in the rocks just as another volley explodes behind them.
They scramble up the cliffside, trying to get above the blast range. The Fungus Colossus roars—a sound like wet wood snapping—and continues firing, turning the entire valley into a war zone.
"It's too big to fight head-on," Bomin pants, watching as the explosions rock the ground. "And it absorbs magic… so my Aether blasts might just heal it."
He looks down at Bummer. The little creature is still glowing with the power from the Chaos Crystal. he seems to understand. he nuzzles his hand, then points toward the base of the monster.
The roots.
"You're right," Bomin grins, his eyes sharp. "We don't need to kill the whole thing. We just need to cut off its supply."
Bomin activates his Stealth, wrapping himself and Bummer in a layer of Aether light that makes them blend into the dark rocks. They move slowly, carefully, dodging the incoming fire.
The Artillery Fungus is powerful, but it's slow. Its massive body is anchored deep into the ground by thick, rope-like roots.
Bomin and Bummer reach the base undetected.
"Now, Bummer," he whispers. "Eat the roots. Drain its power!"
Bummer leaps forward, his jaws unhinging slightly, and he begins to devour the thick, magical roots. Green energy flows into him instantly, making her grow even larger—his fur turning almost metallic.
The Colossus shudders. Its artillery cannons stop firing, twitching wildly as its energy is being stolen from the inside out.
Bomin stands ready, his sword drawn, channeling the Aether flow he learned in the Stem Garden. "This is for everything you've blocked!"
He slams his palm onto the main stem, pushing his own energy inward—not to attack, but to disrupt.
The massive mushroom creature lets out a final, wet groan and begins to shrink, collapsing in on itself as its power is completely drained by Bummer and neutralized by Bomin.
THE REWARD
As the monster dissolves into harmless dust, the path ahead opens up. Bomin is exhausted, but his stats are higher than ever.

→ NEW SKILL LEARNED: ENERGY DRAIN
Bummer lets out a happy chirp, hisr belly full, and nuzzles Bomin's cheek.
"Good boy" Bomin laughs, wiping sweat from his brow. "That was insane. But if that's just the start…"
"We've got a long way to go."
Bomin stands panting, watching as the massive Artillery Fungus crumbles into a pile of harmless, dry mulch. The air is still, the explosions have stopped, and the terrifying shadow looming over the valley is gone.
"Phew," Bomin wipes sweat and soot from his forehead, sheathing his sword. "That was tough, but we did it. Good job, Bummer."
Bummer lets out a satisfied chirp, patting her full belly with a paw. She looks proud, her fur shimmering with the stolen energy.
Bomin relaxes his stance, letting his guard down. Danger's gone, he thinks. Now we can just—
BOOM!
The ground beneath the dead fungus suddenly erupts.
Dark, crimson soil flies everywhere as something massive bursts upward from deep underground. The smell hits Bomin first—a thick, suffocating stench of rot, iron, and decay so powerful it makes his eyes water and his stomach turn.
"Wh—what now?!"
Rising from the crater where the fungus died are three towering figures, each one more horrifying than the last. They look like twisted mockeries of nature—giant, fleshy towers of petals colored deep red and purple, with centers that look like gaping, diseased wounds.
NEW THREAT DETECTED
CREATURE: RAFFLESIA COLOSSUS – THE CORPSE FLOWER
QUANTITY: 3
THREAT LEVEL: EXTREME / CATASTROPHIC
The three monsters tower even higher than the fungus was. Their petals are thick and leathery, covered in strange patterns that look almost like veins. In the center of each flower is a massive, gaping maw filled with needle-like thorns, and eyes that glow with a sickly yellow light.
They didn't just appear—they were sleeping underground, feeding on the energy the Artillery Fungus was absorbing. Now that their food source was dead, they've woken up hungry.
THEIR ABILITIES:
- Stench of Decay: The air around them is toxic. Just breathing it slowly drains stamina and health.
- Life Drain: They don't just ate food; they suck the vitality out of the land and anything standing near them. The ground around their roots turns gray and dead instantly.
- Symbiotic Rage: Since there are three of them, they share health and defense. If you hit one, the others get angry and stronger.
"Three of thm?!" Bomin's eyes go wide, immediately stepping back. "And they look way meaner than the mushroom!"
Bummer growls low in her throat, her fur standing on end. She instinctively moves in front of Bomin, ready to fight, but even she knows this is bad news.
One of the Corpse Flowers lets out a wet, gurgling roar. It doesn't have a mouth that moves like an animal, but the sound comes from deep inside its core. It raises a massive petal like a whip and cracks it against the ground, shattering rock.
They aren't letting him pass. They want to kill him.
"Bummer, stay close!" Bomin shouts, instantly switching back to combat mode.
He doesn't have time to rest. The middle flower lunges first, its massive central column shooting forward like a spear, aiming to impale him.
Bomin dives sideways, rolling across the sharp rocks. WHOOSH! The attack hits where he was standing a second ago, piercing the stone like butter.
CRACK!
The other two flowers begin to spew a thick, purple mist. It spreads across the battlefield quickly, blinding him and slowing his movements.
STATUS EFFECT: POISONED
MOVEMENT SPEED DECREASED BY 40%
"Not good!" Bomin grits his teeth, channeling Aether into his legs. He remembers what Lira taught him—flow, don't force.
He wraps himself in a thin green barrier, pushing the mist away. "Bummer! Target the roots again! They look heavy, they can't move fast!"
Bummer barks in agreement and dashes forward, a small dark blur against the massive red monsters.
But these flowers are smarter. As Bummer approaches, one of them slams its base down, creating a shockwave that sends her tumbling back. They protect each other.
"We can't fight them one by one," Bomin realizes, dodging a rain of sharp thorns. "They're linked. If I attack one, the others defend it."
He looks at the landscape. They are in a valley. The flowers are standing in the soft earth where the fungus was.
Wait, Bomin thinks, looking at the unstable ground. They are big… heavy… and the ground is broken.
A crazy plan forms in his mind.
"Hey! Over here!" Bomin yells, waving his sword to get their attention.
All three massive heads turn toward him, their yellow eyes locking on. They roar in unison, the sound shaking the sky.
"Come and get me!"
Bomin runs, not away, but around them in circles, taunting them, making them swing their heavy bodies.
CRASH! CRASH! BOOM!
Every time they try to step or turn, their massive weight cracks the already damaged ground further. The earth beneath them begins to sink and slide.
"Now, Bummer!" Bomin signals. "Hit the weak spot where they stand!"
Bummer leaps high, gathering all the energy she ate from the fungus, and fires a concentrated beam of pure green light directly at the crumbling earth beneath the flowers.
SKILL: AETHER BURST
The ground finally gives way.
With a deafening sound of tearing earth, the three Rafflesia Colossus lose their footing. They roar in surprise and anger as they slide down into the sinkhole they created, their massive bodies tangling together, unable to balance or attack properly.
"Now's our chance!"
Bomin doesn't finish them off completely—he knows he can't kill three of them at once. Instead, he uses the chaos to run.
"Move, Bummer! We go up! High ground!"
They scramble up the steep canyon wall just as the flowers manage to pull themselves free, screaming in rage. But Bomin is already above their reach, safe on a ledge overlooking the valley.
Below, the three Corpse Flowers are patrolling the area, guarding the path. They aren't going anywhere.
Bomin leans against the rock, catching his breath. Bummer climbs up onto his lap, panting heavily.
"Okay," Bomin breathes out, looking down at the terrifying monsters. "Note to self: Killing one big thing just wakes up three bigger things. This universe hates me."
He looks ahead. The path forward is blocked by the three giants, but to his left, he sees a narrow, dangerous path leading up into the mountains, away from the valley.
"We can't fight them yet," Bomin decides. "We need more power. More experience. Let's take the high road. See what else is out there."
He stands up, patting Bummer's head. "Come on, partner. We've got a whole world to explore."
Leaving the valley of death behind, Bomin and Bummer begin the long climb up the jagged cliffs. The air grows thinner and cooler the higher they go, washing away the stench of rot and sulfur.
Behind them, the roars of the three Rafflesia Colossus echo like thunder, but they are getting farther away.
"Okay, we're safe for now," Bomin says, wiping dust from his clothes. "But man… those things were nightmare fuel."
Bummer lets out a agreeing grunt, his paws finding purchase on the smooth rock. grown even more agile since eating the crystal, he's claws acting like pitons as he scales the wall effortlessly, sometimes pulling Bomin up when his arms get tired.
NEW BIOME: THE CRYSTAL WINDWAYS
After what feels like hours of climbing, they finally pull themselves over the edge of the cliff.
Bomin stops dead in his tracks, mesmerized.
They aren't on solid ground anymore. They are standing on a plateau made of translucent crystal that floats high above the clouds. Below them, the world is just a sea of white mist. Massive bridges made of frozen wind and glass connect floating islands that drift slowly through the sky.
The wind here sings—a high, clear melody that hums through the crystals.
WORLD SCANNING...
BIOME: AERIAL ARCHIPELAGO
ELEMENT: WIND & LIGHT
DENSITY: LOW GRAVITY
"Whoa…" Bomin takes a step and realizes he jumps almost a meter high effortlessly. "Gravity is weird here."
ENCOUNTER: THE AERO FOLK
As they walk along a crystal path, Bomin hears fluttering sounds. Not birds—
From behind a spire of ice-crystal, figures emerge. They are humanoid, slender and graceful, with skin like polished pearl and hair that flows as if underwater even though there's no water. Their most striking feature are the large, translucent wings growing from their backs—shimmering like stained glass in the sunlight.
They hold weapons made of condensed air and sharpened crystal.
NEW RACE DISCOVERED: AERO FOLK (SKY DWELLERS)
NATURE: GUARDIANS OF THE WIND CURRENT
DISPOSITION: CAUTIOUS BUT CURIOUS
One of them, wearing a circlet of silver feathers, steps forward. She speaks, and her voice sounds like wind chimes.
"Stranger," she says, her eyes scanning Bomin and then landing on Bummer. "You carry the scent of the Deep Earth and the Garden. Few outsiders find their way to the Windways."
Bomin raises his hands peacefully. "I'm lost. I need to cross this world to find a way back to my own home. The path below is blocked by monsters."
The Aero woman's expression darkens. "The Rot Beasts. They have been spreading. They consume the land, but they cannot reach us here. Yet."
She looks Bomin up and down. "You fight well, yes? We felt the tremors from below. If you wish to pass through our domain, you must help us first."
THE THREAT: STORM EELS
"The wind currents that keep our islands afloat are becoming chaotic," she explains, gesturing to the sky where dark, twisting clouds are forming. "Something is disturbing the flow. Giant predators have been drawn here."
Suddenly, the sky darkens.
From the swirling mists, massive shapes burst out. They look like eels, but hundreds of meters long, made entirely of living lightning and storm clouds. Their eyes glow with dangerous blue light, and they snap with jaws that crackle with electricity.
CREATURE DETECTED: STORM EELS
THREAT LEVEL: HIGH
ABILITY: LIGHTNING BREATH, TORNADO CREATION
"Look out!" Bomin shouts, grabbing Bummer and diving behind a crystal pillar just as a bolt of purple lightning strikes where they were standing, shattering the rock.
The Aero Folk spread their wings and take flight, firing arrows made of solid wind. But the Storm Eels are fast, twisting and turning, dodging the attacks and retaliating with thunderous roars.
BOMIN'S NEW SKILL: WALKING ON AIR
One of the Eels dives straight toward Bomin, its maw wide open.
Bomin doesn't panic. He closes his eyes for a split second, remembering what he learned in the Stem Garden.
Feel the flow. Connect to everything.
He reaches out with his Aether sense. He doesn't just feel the ground—he feels the air itself, thick with energy, pressing against him.
"Solidify!" he commands mentally.
Bomin stomps his foot on empty space. BOOM!
A platform of solid green light appears under his feet, holding him up. He pushes off it, jumping again, and another platform forms.
He is literally walking on air.
"Whoa… this is awesome!"
Bomin runs across the sky, stepping on invisible platforms of Aether, closing the distance between him and the giant Eel. Bummer jumps onto his back, clinging on as he moves at high speed.
"Bummer! Co-op attack!" Bomin yells.
He channels Aether into his fist, and Bummer channels the energy she stored from the fungus. Together, they form a massive sphere of green and blue energy.
SKILL UNLOCKED: AETHER BUSTER
Bomin leaps high above the Storm Eel and slams the sphere down directly onto its head.
BOOOOOOM!
A massive explosion of light echoes through the sky. The Storm Eel lets out a final screech and dissolves into harmless mist and rain.
ALLIANCE FORMED
The other Eels, seeing their companion destroyed and feeling Bomin's overwhelming power, turn and flee into the clouds, disappearing into the storm.
The Aero Folk land around him, their eyes wide with awe. The leader approaches, bowing deeply this time.
"You command the Aether with strength and grace," she says respectfully. "I am Lyra. Welcome to the Windways, Warrior."
She gestures to a massive, stable portal floating in the center of the main island. It glows with a pure, white light.
"That portal leads to the next realm," Lyra says. "But before you go… please, rest with us. Eat our food, hear our stories. You have earned it."
Bomin smiles, exhausted but happy. He looks at Bummer, who is already munching on a crystal fruit offered by the villagers.
"Sure," Bomin grins. "We'd love to stay."
As the sun sets over the floating islands, painting the sky in colors Bomin has never seen before, he knows one thing for sure:
