As he strolled into Madam Li's courtyard, Gu fan noticed a dozen or so maids standing anxiously outside the stone archway. They held silver trays stacked with a variety of spiritual fruits, freshly brewed tea, and other delicacies.
The fact that the maids were on their toes meant that the guests were really important to his mother.
