Ivan silently calculated the distance in his mind.
Then he drove the ambulance into the greenbelt, circled slightly, and approached Yuliel from another direction.
In his hand were the extra tennis balls he had taken from the sedan earlier.
Those were the key.
When the dinosaur-driven car appeared within Yuliel's line of sight, Ivan's ambulance was already poised from the opposite direction.
He saw Yuliel raise his arm to throw.
But the attack didn't come immediately.
Yuliel was waiting.
Waiting for the optimal distance.
That only strengthened Ivan's confidence.
When the straight-line distance between the car and Yuliel shrank to roughly three hundred meters, Yuliel finally threw the stone.
The asphalt fragment instantly appeared inside the ambulance, on the passenger seat to Ivan's left—
and slammed directly into his left arm.
Pain surged through him.
But Ivan had anticipated this.
In fact, the exposed, dinosaurized left arm had deliberately been left there to draw the attack.
The moment Yuliel's attack finished, Ivan began counting internally.
His foot released the clutch and slammed the accelerator.
With one hand he shifted gears, forcing the hidden vehicle to accelerate rapidly.
As the speed rose, Ivan opened the door and stood up.
Then he hurled the tennis ball in his hand straight toward Yuliel.
When Ivan dropped back into the driver's seat—
the ambulance smashed directly into Yuliel, who was already under the effects of Left-Side Misalignment.
The vehicle carried him forward—
straight into the Triceratops charging from behind him.
The airbags exploded open at the moment of impact, blocking Ivan and Yuliel's line of sight.
The Velociraptor that had been waiting behind Ivan burst through the ambulance's rear door the instant the vehicle stopped.
Inside the cabin, Ivan—wrapped in the inflated airbags—felt the weight on his shoulders and head suddenly disappear.
The Compsognathus perched there had been flung forward by inertia and slammed into the windshield.
They were already scrambling back up, shaking their heads to shake off the dizziness.
Ivan, still in his half-dinosaur form, sniffed the air sharply.
The moment he smelled blood, he knew the plan had succeeded.
But he also knew this was not the time to celebrate.
Even if Yuliel had been injured, the transformation into a dinosaur would still take time.
Roughly within three minutes.
And that window was the most dangerous part of the plan.
Because if Ivan had figured out Yuliel's ability, then Yuliel had likely realized how the dinosaur infection worked.
Which meant that in the final moments, Yuliel would unleash everything he had left to kill Ivan and turn the situation around.
As the ambulance door opened, Ivan sensed the front of the vehicle beginning to lift.
Yuliel's strength far exceeded that of ordinary humans.
But in the world of Hunters, that was perfectly normal.
With proper training and talent, humans could reach strength levels of several tons—or even dozens of tons.
Ivan had known that since reading the manga.
When Gon and the others visited the Zoldyck estate, the Testing Gate began at two tons.
The final gate alone weighed 128 tons.
Even if Yuliel could only open two or three of those gates, his physical strength would already be terrifying.
Ivan himself was quite strong, so he had never underestimated Yuliel.
That was also why he had avoided using the nearby Compsognathus to restrain Yuliel earlier.
Yuliel's raw strength far exceeded theirs.
Those Compsognathus—originally just wild cats and dogs—had been enhanced by transformation.
But their improvements mainly boosted agility, defense, dynamic vision, bite force, and claw sharpness.
Trying to match a Nen user in pure strength would have been pointless.
By the time the ambulance flipped over, Ivan had already jumped clear.
Only then did he clearly see Yuliel's condition.
A hole had been punched straight through Yuliel's abdomen.
Blood poured from the wound.
The effort of flipping the vehicle had even caused blood to seep from the corners of his mouth.
Yet Ken still covered Yuliel's body.
Ivan's alarm bells rang instantly.
The distance between them was now barely a dozen meters.
At that range, Yuliel's ability could likely unleash its maximum power.
Especially since Ivan noticed something in Yuliel's hand—
a corpse.
It was probably the guard who had transformed into the Triceratops that impaled Yuliel earlier, only to have his head smashed and revert to human form.
While flipping the ambulance, Yuliel reached down with his other hand.
He clearly intended to rip another chunk of stone from the ground and launch another attack.
If that strike landed at this distance, Ivan couldn't guarantee even the death Nen would save him.
But Ivan wasn't alone.
Other dinosaurs were still here.
As Yuliel grabbed the ground, the Velociraptor from the ambulance burst out from the side.
Instead of biting, it rammed straight into Yuliel.
The impact sent Yuliel flying backward.
Though he still clutched the guard's corpse, he failed to tear up the ground to create a projectile.
More importantly—
as he flew through the air, more Triceratops and Compsognathus rushed forward and crashed into him one after another.
Ivan watched as Yuliel was trampled repeatedly beneath the stampeding dinosaurs.
The heavy weight in his chest finally eased.
Yuliel refused to release the corpse in his hand.
It was his last chance.
His only chance.
But under the relentless trampling of the Triceratops, the corpse broke apart.
In his grip, it became little more than a torn rag doll.
When his ability's effect finally stopped covering the corpse, despair crept into Yuliel's heart.
The Ken surrounding his body finally collapsed under the repeated trampling.
His arm, reaching for marbles to combine with stones for another attack, snapped with a sharp crack, twisting at an unnatural angle.
A marble embedded itself into a stone.
But when he threw it, the projectile did not vanish into space.
It simply rolled across the ground.
Ivan stepped forward and picked up the marble.
"We could have talked, you know."
Yuliel's eyes were filled with despair.
Yet Ivan's movements seemed strangely clear in his fading vision.
Yuliel opened his mouth.
No words came out.
Blood surged from his abdomen into his throat, leaving him able to produce only hoarse, choking sounds.
"Still… turning you into a dinosaur seems pretty useful."
Ivan smiled—the smile of a victor—as he looked down at him.
"I'm curious to see if dinosaur you can still chase me the way you did earlier."
Behind Ivan, a new species of dinosaur appeared.
A Carcharodontosaurus.
Like the Velociraptor, it was a carnivorous dinosaur.
Its massive jaws were filled with serrated, saw-like teeth.
But the most striking detail was the aura surrounding it.
A layer of Nen enveloped its body—
maintained perfectly in the state of Ten.
