Everyone had gathered in the room that housed Maru. He was breathing heavily and a raging fever was boiling his internals. Megumi, Dabura, Jabaloma and Cross stood around the poor boy. Even Megumi looks contempt at the severe state of illness.
"Can you save him" Jabaloma inquired politely.
"I can" Megumi said. And made a hand sign. Just behind him the shadow stretch and Round deer came into being.
Upon seeing the shikigami sprout out of nothing, Cross drew his sword believing that it was a threat. But fortunately Dabura stopped him.
"Pull back. That thing has been summoned to heal him" Dabura said firmly. Cross withdrew his sword and was ashamed to act so hastily. Megumi noticed it but paid no heed.
He let round deer to touch Cross cheek. The deer glowed with an emerald green radiance. And the energy was flowing into Cross. Soon his body was also glowing and the gangrene was retreating back. In a matter of seconds the gangrene was completely healed. The fever was also going down. And slowly Cross opened his eyes.
"Oh thank goodness. You are saved" Jabaloma said hugging. Even Dabura seemed pleased.
"Thank you. Once again" Dabura told Megumi warmly.
But Cross who had witnessed everything was stupified by this miracle. He couldn't believe that someone who was on the verge of death, now is smiling and talking.
Maru's eyes met Cross and he gave out a wide smile. To this Cross pulled up a bitter smile, his mind hazy with so many conflicting thoughts.
