He thought she had finally played hard to get long enough and was finally letting him in. Yet, her attitude remained exactly the same.

Jiang Xuxu kept her hand on the knob and turned to look back at him. "Why? Because this was your late grandmother's room?"
Pei Yuancheng's pupils constricted. Before he could even wonder how she knew, Jiang Xuxu had already pressed down the handle and pushed the door open without hesitation.
A gust of stale, musty air rushed out from the room. Because it had been left uninhabited and uncleaned for a long time, a layer of dust had settled over everything, despite the doors and windows being tightly shut.
Pei Yuancheng's face darkened instantly. His grandmother had been gone for over two years, and the family rarely spoke of her anymore. Even he hadn't paid much attention to this room in a long while. But to him, his grandmother had always been an incredibly important person in this family.
Jiang Xuxu's behavior felt quite offensive.
Though he was unhappy, he didn't scold her. He merely softened his voice. "Xuxu, if you knew this was my grandmother's room, then don't go in. I can take you to my room instead."
Jiang Xuxu simply rolled her eyes at him. "You want to know why I was following you during that time? The answer is in this room."
As she spoke, she walked into the room. "Back then, it was your grandmother's soul that found me and begged me to look after you..."
Pei Yuancheng never expected to hear such an answer. It was so preposterous it was almost laughable.
"My grandmother's soul... Xuxu, even if you want to deny your feelings for me, there's really no need to use such a lie to stall me... I..."

The second the flames went out, Pei Yuancheng vaguely felt the temperature in the room shift.
In the next moment, Jiang Xuxu suddenly turned around and seemed to sprinkle some talisman ash toward his eyes.
Pei Yuancheng covered his eyes. "Jiang Xuxu, what kind of trick is this now"
He rubbed his eyes and finally managed to pry them open. When he saw the scene before him, his eyes nearly bulged out of his head.
In the middle of the previously empty room, a familiar, short, and stout figure was slowly manifesting. Who else could it be but his grandmother, who had passed away two years ago?!
