Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Luck-Stealing Talisman

Nanny Wu hadn't caught on at first, but she soon realized what Mrs. Guan and Miss Guan were implying. This gave her the perfect opening to fabricate a plausible reason for why Guan Xuxu was "slandering" her.

Sure enough, as soon as she spoke, Jiang Su hearing that there was supposedly a history between them looked at Guan Xuxu with nothing but loathing.

"You're being far too petty. Nanny Wu hasn't done anything to you, so was this really necessary? You've only been back for one day and you're already causing trouble. You're practically a"

Before the word "menace" could leave his lips, a lukewarm voice laced with heavy pressure drifted over from beside him.

"Jiang Su."

Just two words were enough to make him shut his mouth. He looked toward his big cousin and found that the smile on Jiang Huai's face had turned chillingly cold. Jiang Su winced and shrank back, not daring to speak again.

However, the resentment in his eyes toward Guan Xuxu didn't diminish in the slightest.

With Jiang Su standing up for her, Nanny Wu was now brimming with confidence. She straightened her back, her face a mask of indignant fury.

"If the Eldest Miss doesn't believe me, you can have someone search my room! I've lived an upright life; I'm not afraid of a search! Even though I'm just a nanny, I won't let myself be slandered for no reason!"

The commotion had grown quite loud. The other servants and the butler of the villa had naturally gathered nearby, though they didn't dare get too close.

Listening from a distance, they began to harbor their own grievances against this newly returned Eldest Miss.

They had heard she was raised by a wealthy family, yet here she was, acting high and mighty, looking down on nannies and servants like them. No one liked being looked down upon, and their impression of her soured instantly.

Jiang Yucheng naturally noticed how the surrounding servants were looking at Xuxu. His face remained tense as he stared at Guan Xuxu, just about to put an end to this "farce," when she finally spoke again. Her voice was calm and steady.

"When did I ever say she stole money?"

Everyone present froze.

Jiang Su was the first to snap, "You said it yourself just now! You said Nanny Wu stole, and now you're backing out?"

Guan Xuxu glanced at him. "What I said was that she stole the Jiang Family's Aura of Wealth."

The claim about stealing "money" had actually come from Lu Xuexi.

Whether it was a deliberate attempt to mislead others or an accidental summary, it was clear that everyone had been led astray by her words.

"Stealing an Aura of Wealth and directly stealing money are two completely different things." At the very least, you couldn't find the former just by searching a room.

It was because of that loophole that Nanny Wu had been so bold as to demand a search.

Jiang Su felt like he was listening to a riddle. He felt she was just making excuses. "How do you even steal an Aura of Wealth? Stop making up this mystical nonsense. It sounds like a scam."

Hearing this, Jiang Huai shot him another warning glance.

Even if Xuxu was just bluffing, so what? With her status, she was entitled to bluff.

Besides, Xuxu's demeanor was far too calm and composed. Jiang Huai had a faint feeling that she was telling the truth.

The elite circles were more or less inclined to respect Metaphysics and destiny; the Jianghai Group even consulted several well-known Feng Shui masters.

But his own sister... she was only eighteen. Could she really understand these things?

Jiang Huai held his doubts close, yet unlike the others, he didn't think Guan Xuxu was talking nonsense.

Guan Xuxu didn't bother wasting any more breath on the boy who was supposed to be her younger cousin. She turned her gaze back to Nanny Wu and suddenly pointed toward a specific spot.

"What did you bury over there?"

She was pointing at a flower bed in the corner of the garden the exact spot Nanny Wu's eyes had unconsciously drifted toward while she was working distractedly earlier.

Nanny Wu was already trembling with anxiety, but seeing Guan Xuxu point with such precision, her heart skipped a beat. A cold sweat nearly broke out on her forehead.

No... it's impossible.

How could she actually know...?

Jiang Yucheng saw Nanny Wu's reaction and became certain of something. He turned and gestured to the butler. "Go."

The butler was already curious. Upon receiving the order, he quickly walked toward the spot Guan Xuxu had indicated.

The onlookers followed the butler to the edge of the flower bed.

While the others were curious, Jiang Su followed with an expression of total disbelief, as if waiting to see what kind of trick she was pulling.

Guan Xuxu pointed at the soil under a specific plant. Without a word, the butler crouched down and began to dig with a small trowel.

As the butler worked, Nanny Wu's face turned deathly pale, and her legs felt weak.

However, everyone's attention was on the butler, and no one noticed her expression.

The soil in the flower bed was regularly tilled, so it wasn't difficult to dig through. After just a few strokes, a small hole appeared. Suddenly, the trowel hit something, and the butler's eyes lit up.

"I found it!"

As he spoke, the butler unearthed a bundle wrapped in black plastic. It was tightly bound. He reached out to unwrap the outer layer.

The moment he opened it, a foul stench wafted from a paper packet inside the plastic.

The butler's expression changed instantly. Suppressing the urge to gag, he reached for the paper packet, but Guan Xuxu suddenly called out to stop him.

"Don't touch it."

Everyone turned to see Guan Xuxu step forward. Out of nowhere, a yellow talisman appeared in her hand, which she pressed against the paper packet.

Whether it was their imagination or not, everyone felt that the moment the talisman touched the packet, the paper inside aged and darkened rapidly.

The butler glanced at Guan Xuxu again. Seeing her nod, he reached out and carefully opened the paper packet through his gloves.

The inside of the paper was red, resembling the kind of red paper used in temples for recording birth information. As the paper unfolded, several Eight Characters of Birth Time were indeed written on it. However, the characters looked as if they had been written in blood; they were now dried and black, emitting a putrid odor.

In addition to that, there were a few strands of hair inside the packet and a talisman drawn with eerie symbols.

Something so sinister was clearly buried there on purpose. Combining this with what Guan Xuxu had said, everyone could guess what these things were for.

They just couldn't believe it. Could such things really steal an Aura of Wealth?

Jiang Su saw that something had actually been dug up and looked at Nanny Wu with utter disbelief.

Nanny Wu's lips trembled as she pleaded her innocence. "I... I didn't bury that. I've never seen these things before... Young Master, Miss, you have to believe me..."

Jiang Su opened his mouth to speak, but Guan Xuxu cut him off calmly.

"Whether you buried it or not can be easily verified by checking the villa's perimeter surveillance."

She had noticed earlier that the surveillance cameras covered almost every corner of the Jiang Family villa. It wouldn't be hard to find the truth.

"A Luck-Stealing Talisman must be written with the blood of the Luck Shifter which is you. The hair wrapped inside belongs to a member of the Jiang Family. You're using the Jiang Family bloodline to steal the Jiang Family's Aura of Wealth. Am I wrong?"

Hearing this, Nanny Wu's entire body jolted. Her face turned ghost-white, and she collapsed onto the ground.

Seeing her like this, no one left at the scene could doubt that she was the one who buried the packet.

As for the hair, Nanny Wu had served the Jiang Family for many years; obtaining a few strands of hair from a family member would have been trivial.

They just didn't know which unlucky person the hair belonged to.

"Even... even if she buried it, that doesn't prove she stole any 'wealth' or whatever. Maybe..." Jiang Su was still being stubborn, but Jiang Huai shot him a chilling look with his peach blossom eyes.

"Shut up. Don't make me say it a second time."
