Prince Elio cleared his throat very loudly and intentionally.
Damon froze.
His hands stopped moving on Camilla's gloves. He had been so entirely focused on his wife that he had completely forgotten they were not alone. He had forgotten he was standing in the middle of the royal gardens with the King's children.
Damon slowly lifted his head. He looked over Camilla's shoulder.
Prince Elio and Princess Isolde were standing side by side. They were both grinning. It was not a polite, formal smile. It was a teasing, knowing grin. Their eyes were sparkling with amusement.
Damon realized they had just watched him eagerly open his arms for a hug and carefully fix his wife's clothing like a devoted, love-struck servant.
A sudden rush of intense heat flooded straight into Damon's chest. The heat traveled rapidly up his neck.
In the blink of an eye, the tips of Damon's ears turned a bright burning shade of red. He felt embarrassed by the public display of his own soft heart.
