King Leonel slowly stood up from his chair at the head of the round table. The Lord Chancellor picked up the canvas cloth holding the iron weapon. Two armored royal guards immediately stepped forward to escort them.
Instantly, every single powerful lord and military general in the room stood up from their chairs.
Damon pushed his chair back. He stood tall, keeping his face blank. He bowed his head deeply, just like the rest of the men.
"Long live the King," the nobles murmured respectfully.
King Leonel did not say another word. He looked exhausted. He walked out of the chamber through the private royal door behind his throne.
Following closely behind the King were his two sons. Prince Elio walked with calm, smooth, polite steps. Prince Ivan walked a little faster, looking relieved that the stressful meeting was finally over. The side door clicked shut behind the royal family.
As soon as the King was out of the room, the strict silence broke.
