Chapter 69 - Awakening and another pleasant surprise

Inside a wooden cabin were two figures, one was sitting in a chair reading a book and another was lying down on the bed unconscious, the figure on the bed was tall, his height reaching 2.30 meters, he had black wings and long wavy black hair.

The man sitting beside him was Sebastian. He closed the book and looked at Eldrin, who opened his eyes.

"How many did we lose?"asked Eldrin while still lying on the bed,his usually calm expression looked like it was about to break.

Sebastian sighed and answered.

One hundred thousand spaceships and around one million soldiers.

BOOOOOOOM!

Suddenly, the whole area, including the wooden cabin was flattened. A highly intense purple aura of dark magic was coming from Eldrin, whose expression was ice cold, his mind was almost consumed by the weight of his own guilt and failure to fulfil his purpose as a protector,he had failed yet again.

But Eldrin understood something more than anyone else, even if he had all the power in the world, failure would still be a possibility, or even a guarantee, the saying that with enough power you can protect anyone was but a sweet fairy tale far beyond the truth, there was always someone stronger out there that can take everything from you, imperfect beings such as i are doomed to experience failure and loss.

Eldrin breathed and thought.

Does he desire power? Not really, does he need it to fulfil his purpose? Yes.But how does he gain it?

"Perhaps if given enough time, I can reach new heights of strength, maybe the answer to this is not in this world,or maybe it is but I have not realised it"said Eldrin to himself while looking at the sky.

BAAAM!

A figure with white wings and long white hair landed on the ground.

"You are awake, old man! Quickly! Come with me, it happened again!"said Erskine in unusual excitement.

Eldrin showed a rare, confused expression and asked.

"You need to be a little more specific, old friend, a lot of things have happened multiple times before."

Erskine looked annoyed and said with urgency.

"Just come with me! Another portal to another world has opened."

BAAM!

Erskine leaped and flew towards the direction of an underground base,Sebastian and Eldrin followed.

Sebastian couldn't help but telepathically communicate with Eldrin.

"Which world do you think it is this time, my liege?"

Eldrin thought for a while.

"There's really no way to predict this with my current information; it could be millions of worlds,or it could be none of them at all and something entirely different."

After a few minutes, four figures could be seen standing before a gate: the Ancient One, Sebastian Eldrin and of course Erskine.

Eldrin then broke the silence, " I will send a shadow clone to confirm the environment's safety"

And without waiting for the tree figures to answer, he sent a shadow clone inside the gate.

In a mountain, a blue portal appeared and from it emerged a tall figure with black wings, long wavy black hair and black eyes; it was Eldrin's shadow clone.

He looked around and then flew in the sky, camouflaging his whole body with darkness and he headed towards the stratosphere, until he was in space looking at the familiar planet, which was Earth.

Eldrin's shadow clones' eyes narrowed, and he focused on a certain continent where America was located. Everything seemed normal until he saw two blue giants and seven familiar figures fighting each other.

Eldrin's shadow clone dissolved, back in the blue gate located in a mountain, four figures emerged.

"So you are telling me that this world is similar to ours?"asked Erskine.

Eldrin thought for a while and answered.

"In some ways it is,though there are certain differences."

The Ancient One looked around at seemingly nothing and said.

"Magical energy is completely absent, not even a single trace of it"

"Well, in a way, magic does exist in this world, just highly uncommon to come across it"thought Eldrin

Eldrin turned to the three figures and asked.

"Well, shall we explore?"

The Ancient One answered.

"Well, I'm on a vacation, so why not?"

"I have already given an order for a base to be made here,so I might as well tag along."said Erskine.

Eldrin didn't even ask Sebastian; he could see his deep curiosity about this world,we both share the same memories, but our personalities are distinctively different.

BAAAM!

The four figures flew into the air, heading towards the stratosphere until they reached deep space, looking at Earth.

"They can probably see us via satellite'said Erskine telepathically.

"We have already been established as threats by the paranoid, I'm afraid"answered Eldrin with a barely noticeable smirk, his eyes turned purple and he looked towards a certain building, looking at a man with grey hair and a scarred face. The man was looking at a big screen that showed the four figures floating into space. He seemed nervous.

"I will be right back"said Eldrin to the three figures while disappearing.

"Yep, someone's getting killed"said Erskine in pity for the unlucky guy or woman. Eldrin did not discriminate; if he were to inflict violence, he would do it equally for both genders.

In a hidden, highly secure commander Center was a figure with a scared face and grey hair.

The fourth figure disappeared Sir!said one of the staff.

Cecil turned towards him and said with a deadpan look.

"I noticed it."

"Remarkable observation skills i must say"said Eldrin, who had casually appeared beside Cecil without anyone noticing.

Throughout the room, soldiers with advanced weapons seemingly appeared out of thin air, aiming at Eldrin.

"Worry not, I am not here to harm any of you"Eldrin the looked at the calm Cecil and said.

"You're in quite a lot of trouble, Mr.Cecil. There's a ticking nuclear bomb camouflaged as a global hero, yet none of you seem to be aware"

Cecil, with eyes narrowed, asked.

"You are implying that someone from the Guardians of the Globe has ulterior motives, and if yes, why should I believe you?"

Eldrin looked at him and answered.

"If you choose not to believe me, you will be risking all of humanity; maybe I'm saying the truth and maybe I'm not; however, the price is too heavy to pay if what I'm saying is the truth. You are a competent protector; you will choose to believe me and make sufficient preparations,do not allow Omni-Man to find out,or this world might as well be doomed."

After saying that, Eldrin took a rabbit from seemingly nowhere and injected it with the evolution serum, then he handed three vials to Cecil and left.

Cecil was dumbfounded; even he could not process what the hell had just happened. He looked at the rapidly changing rabbit and then at the vials in his hand.
