Chapter 11 - Inter-academy tournament

Scene Shift: Vedas Heritage Academy - The Grand Hall

The atmosphere in the academy's massive Grand Hall was absolutely electric. Thousands of students, from first-years to seniors, were gathered under the giant glass dome ceiling.

Standing in the very front row, separated from the regular students, were the Core Four.

They looked like they had just walked out of a warzone. Karma had thick white bandages wrapped tightly around his chest and neck. Daizy had a small, neat bandage on her cheek. Kanha's left arm was resting in a medical sling, and Sambhab was wearing a posture-brace over his bruised ribs.

Despite their heavy injuries, they stood tall. And more importantly, pinned to the left side of their chests were shining, gold-trimmed badges. The mark of the Elite Class.

"Okay, listen to me very carefully," Kanha whispered excitedly, leaning toward Sambhab. Despite his broken arm, his eyes were shining with absolute joy. "Do you know what this gold badge means, Sammy? Do you understand the sheer magnitude of our achievement?"

Sambhab sighed, adjusting his glasses with his good hand. "It means we have higher expectations, harder training, and tougher missions, Kanha."

"Wrong!" Kanha grinned wildly, pointing his good hand at the VIP section of the academy cafeteria across the hall. "It means I now have official access to the Elite Dining Hall! Unlimited spicy snacks! Premium double-cheese burgers! Free chocolate milkshakes! Nobody can stop me now! I am an Elite!"

"We literally almost died three days ago," Sambhab groaned, rubbing his forehead. "You were crushed under fifty tons of rock, and your biggest concern is a milkshake?"

"Survival requires calories, bro!" Kanha argued, completely serious.

A few steps away, Karma and Daizy stood quietly, listening to the boys bicker. Daizy let out a soft, beautiful laugh, covering her mouth with her hand. Karma looked at her, and a warm, genuine smile spread across his face.

His body felt different today. Even with the bandages, the heavy, dense power of his newly awakened 2nd Chakra pulsed calmly in his chest. He wasn't the weak, leaking boy anymore. He had power. And standing next to Daizy, he felt a deep sense of peace.

Suddenly, the loud chatter in the Grand Hall completely died down.

The heavy, imposing footsteps of Principal Vardhan echoed through the room. The Principal, a massive man with a stern face and an aura so heavy it made the air vibrate, walked up to the podium. Behind him stood Professor Agni, looking as strict as ever.

"Welcome, students of Vedas Heritage," Principal Vardhan's deep voice boomed, amplified by Pran energy so it reached every corner of the hall.

"A few days ago, the first-year Aether Hunt concluded. Due to an... unexpected anomaly... karma and his team was dropped into the deepest, most dangerous sector of the Mirror Dimension."

The entire hall collectively held its breath. Thousands of eyes turned to look at the bandaged Core Four standing in the front.

"Not only did they survive an environment meant for Elite Seniors," the Principal continued, his sharp eyes locking onto Karma. "But they also successfully hunted and retrieved an Elite Gold Core. For their exceptional courage, teamwork, and absolute refusal to die, I have officially promoted them to the Elite Class."

A wave of applause washed over the hall. Kanha tried to wave to the crowd with his broken arm, wincing in pain but smiling anyway. Daizy blushed, looking down at the floor, while Karma just kept his expression calm and stoic.

Principal Vardhan raised his hand, and the applause instantly stopped. The atmosphere suddenly grew tense and serious.

"However, peace is a luxury we do not have," Vardhan announced, his voice dropping to a dangerous register. "Next month, the gates of our academy will open to outsiders. The Inter-Academy Tournament is officially upon us."

Whispers of shock and excitement immediately broke out among the senior students. The Inter-Academy Tournament was a brutal, merciless competition where the top Pranist schools in the country fought for supremacy, resources, and honor. The rules were loose, and severe injuries were common.

"Vedas Heritage accepts nothing but absolute victory," the Principal roared. "And to represent the strength of our newest generation, the vanguard team for the first-year division will be none other than our newly appointed Elites."

Vardhan pointed directly at Karma, Daizy, Kanha, and Sambhab.

"The Core Four will represent us in the Tournament."

Kanha's jaw dropped, his dream of unlimited snacks instantly shattering. "Wait... what? We have to fight more monsters? But this time they are human?!"

Sambhab's eyes narrowed, his tactical mind immediately calculating the terrible odds. "Human opponents from rival academies... This is infinitely more dangerous than brainless Shadow Beasts."

Karma didn't panic. He instinctively took a half-step forward, placing himself slightly in front of Daizy. His teal eyes hardened. It didn't matter if it was a beast or a rival student. If they threatened his team, he would cut them down.

High above the Grand Hall, standing in the shadows of the VIP balcony, Sera looked down at Karma. A twisted, psychotic smile spread across her beautiful face.

 BATTLE ROYAL

Four weeks had passed since the nightmare of the Deep Zone.

The heavy white bandages were finally gone. Karma's body was completely healed, but more importantly, it was transformed. The dense, powerful teal energy of his 2nd Chakra pulsed steadily in his chest. He felt faster, stronger, and incredibly calm.

Vedas Heritage Academy was no longer just a school; it had turned into a fortress preparing for war. Giant banners hung from the towers, and the massive gates were thrown wide open. The Inter-Academy Tournament had officially begun.

Hundreds of students from rival Pranist schools across the country flooded into the courtyard. They wore different colored uniforms—crimson, black, silver—and walked with pride, sizing each other up.

The Core Four were walking through the crowded courtyard toward the cafeteria. Kanha was happily munching on a giant chocolate bar, his broken arm completely healed thanks to high-level academy medics. Sambhab was walking ahead, reading the tournament rulebook on his holographic screen.

Daizy was walking beside Karma. She looked around nervously at the fierce, aggressive faces of the rival students.

"They all look so intimidating," Daizy whispered, stepping a little closer to Karma.

"Don't worry," Karma replied softly, his hands resting casually in his pockets. "They are just trying to look tough. Stay close."

Suddenly, a group of five students wearing dark crimson uniforms intentionally blocked their path. The leader of the group was a tall, muscular boy with sharp, snake-like eyes and a highly arrogant smirk. He wore a badge that read: Crimson Peak Academy.

His name was Vikram, a 3rd Chakra Awakener known for his brutal fighting style.

Vikram's eyes slowly scanned the Core Four. He completely ignored Kanha and Sambhab, his gaze locking directly onto Daizy's pale-green healer badge.

"Well, well, well," Vikram sneered, his voice dripping with arrogance. "Are my eyes deceiving me? Is this the legendary 'Elite Team' of Vedas Heritage? The ones who supposedly killed a Gold Core beast?"

He took a step closer to Daizy, invading her personal space. Daizy took a nervous step back, her heart beating faster.

"You're a healer, right?" Vikram laughed, looking her up and down. "A weak little medic. Let me guess, your team just hid behind a rock while the beast killed itself, and you took the credit? It's pathetic that Vedas Heritage made a fragile little girl their vanguard."

Vikram reached his hand out, aiming to aggressively grab Daizy by the chin to intimidate her. "Let's see how soft the Rank 1 Elite is—"

SWISH.

Vikram didn't even see the movement.

Before his fingers could even touch a single strand of Daizy's hair, his wrist was caught. The grip was like an iron vice, completely unbreakable.

Vikram gasped, looking down. Karma was standing right in front of Daizy. He hadn't drawn his wooden sword. He had simply reached out with his bare hand and caught Vikram's wrist mid-air.

"What the... let go of me!" Vikram barked, trying to pull his hand back. He flared his crimson Pran energy, trying to burn Karma's hand.

But Karma didn't even flinch. His dense, stabilized teal aura flared just slightly, completely crushing Vikram's red energy. Karma's grip tightened, and the distinct sound of bones creaking filled the quiet courtyard.

Vikram's face went completely pale. Sweat formed on his forehead as a terrifying, suffocating pressure washed over him. He looked into Karma's eyes and saw absolutely zero fear. He only saw a calm, deadly storm.

"Listen to me very carefully," Karma said, his voice quiet, cold, and echoing with pure authority. "If you ever try to touch her again... you won't need a healer. You will need a coffin."

Karma released the wrist with a sharp flick, shoving Vikram backward. The arrogant leader stumbled and almost fell into his teammates, rubbing his bruised wrist in pure shock.

Kanha took a bite of his chocolate bar and laughed loudly. "Oye snake-boy! Better slither away before my brother turns you into a belt!"

Vikram gritted his teeth, his pride shattered in front of the crowd. "You... you'll pay for this! I'll break all of you in the arena!" He turned and stormed off with his team.

Daizy let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She looked at Karma's broad back, her cheeks flushing a deep shade of pink. "Thank you, Karma," she whispered.

Karma turned around and gave her a gentle smile, the terrifying aura vanishing completely. "Always."

"Alright, enough drama," Sambhab said, closing his holographic screen. His blue eyes were sharp and focused. "The opening ceremony is starting. It's time to head to the Grand Colosseum."

Scene Shift: The Grand Colosseum

The roar of the crowd was deafening.

The Grand Colosseum of Vedas Heritage was a massive, open-air stadium, capable of holding fifty thousand people. The stands were packed with cheering students, wealthy Pranist families, and elite sponsors.

Standing in the center of the massive dirt arena were fifty students. They were the top representatives from various academies, including the Core Four.

High up in the VIP box, Principal Vardhan stood in front of a magical microphone.

"Welcome to the Inter-Academy Tournament!" Vardhan's voice boomed like thunder, shaking the stadium seats. "This tournament will test your limits, your teamwork, and your survival instincts!"

The crowd screamed in excitement.

"The first event is the Grand Survival Royale!" Vardhan announced. "Fifty students are currently in the arena. There are no safe zones. There are no rulebooks. You can fight alone, or you can fight as a team. The match will only end when exactly ten students remain standing! The rest will be eliminated!"

Down in the arena, Sambhab quickly analyzed the situation. "A fifty-person free-for-all. Only ten survive. That means forty people have to be knocked out or severely injured."

"Look around, Sammy," Kanha muttered, dropping his goofy attitude entirely. He pulled out a wooden toothpick. "I don't think this is a free-for-all."

Karma tightened his grip on the hilt of his dark wooden bokken. His Kinetic Vision was already scanning the arena.

Kanha was right.

The other forty-six students in the arena weren't looking at each other. They were all slowly turning their heads to look at the center of the arena. They were looking at the gold Elite badges pinned to the chests of Karma, Daizy, Kanha, and Sambhab.

Among the crowd of enemies was Vikram, the arrogant boy from Crimson Peak. He drew a pair of jagged daggers, an evil grin spreading across his face.

"They all want the fame," Sambhab realized, his blue aura flaring to life. "If they take down the Rank 1 Elite team of the host academy, they become instant legends. They are going to team up against us."

"Forty-six against four," Kanha laughed, though sweat was dripping down his face. "Those are terrible odds."

"Daizy," Karma said, not taking his eyes off the surrounding enemies. "Stay in the center. Sambhab, Kanha, form a triangle around her."

Daizy nodded, pressing her hands together. A beautiful, brilliant green healing barrier expanded around the team.

"Let them come," Karma said calmly. He slowly drew his dark wooden sword from his belt. As the blade caught the sunlight, his 2nd Chakra exploded outward in a massive, breathtaking wave of teal energy. The sheer density of his Pran cracked the dirt beneath his boots.

GONG!

The massive stadium bell rang, signaling the start of the match.

With a unified roar, forty-six elite students from rival academies charged directly at the Core Four from all directions. Weapons raised, Pran energies flaring in a rainbow of deadly colors. It was an overwhelming tidal wave of violence.

Karma lowered his stance, his eyes tracking every single movement in slow motion. The storm was finally unleashed.
