Chapter 54 – Famed Sword
"Amazing—Nami can actually control lightning!"
Luffy's eyes were wide, his face full of shock.
As a Devil Fruit user himself, he'd assumed powers only let you manipulate your own body, like him or Chopper.
But Nami was different.
She could command the weather—that was downright Devil Fruit territory.
"Incredible!"
Chopper and Usopp exclaimed in unison.
"That should be the Weather-Weather Fruit—one of the strongest Paramecia types."
Surprise flickered in Robin's eyes.
She'd once studied the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia under Crocodile and knew how potent that Paramecia was.
If one could truly master the weather, even the World's Strongest Man, Whitebeard, might not reach such heights.
Robin glanced toward Dante Voss.
The fruit he'd spirited out of Mary Geoise was extraordinary indeed; the Celestial Dragons really did hoard the rarest Devil Fruits.
"A fruit that commands the weather..." Dante Voss marveled; apart from elemental intangibility, it could wield multiple elements.
Lightning, rain, wind, mist—
climatic forces so vast she could chill the air for pseudo-ice or heat it for pseudo-flame.
Among all Devil Fruits, this was top-tier.
And in the hands of weather-sensitive Nami, it was a match made in heaven.
Savoring her new power, Nami retracted it with satisfaction.
At once the storm clouds scattered and starlight flooded the sky.
Rain and fog vanished, revealing the open sea anew.
"Nami's amazing—our Weather Goddess! Goddess!" Sanji whooped.
Such power only magnified her charm in his eyes.
"With the right training, that could rival Crocodile's Sand-Sand Fruit!"
Even Zoro was awed.
Mighty fruits made the world feel unfair.
Years of sword-training could be overtaken in a single bite.
Relief spread across Nami's face.
She'd feared eating some bizarre fruit that might hinder rather than help.
Thankfully,
the Weather-Weather Fruit fit her like a glove, letting her bring out its full potential.
Her heart raced with excitement.
With this power she could soar through the sky—
a perfect answer to her greatest weakness.
For timid Nami, escape was paramount.
She looked at Dante Voss, her gem-like eyes shimmering.
She bit her lip, made up her mind, dashed over, and pecked his cheek.
Instantly blushing scarlet, she fled toward the cabin. "That's your reward for the Devil Fruit. I'm turning in!"
The faint warmth on his face made Dante Voss's grin unstoppable.
He'd never expected a casual gift to earn him a kiss.
"Nami-swan..." Sanji's lips trembled; he collapsed as if turned to stone.
"Damn you, Dante Voss, bribing my adorable Nami-swan with money!"
Frustration and despair washed over him.
He couldn't compete—neither in strength nor in wealth.
At that moment his craving for money matched his yearning for the Clear-Clear Fruit.
"Heh-heh, you got your wish, Dante Voss."
Robin smiled, happier than she'd been in ages.
She loved this relaxed life.
"An unexpected bonus!" Dante Voss replied with a laugh.
"Tch, it's just a kiss—boring." Luffy shrugged and bounded to his seat.
Zoro resumed training, no longer watching.
He spent every waking hour honing his body.
To become the World's Greatest Swordsman, he had to.
"Seems the show's over; I'll go change too."
Robin, clothes damp, headed for the cabin.
"Sure."
Dante Voss didn't mind the earlier rain.
Though his mysterious shadow battle suit wasn't waterproof, his Physique shrugged off a little water.
With everyone busy, Dante Voss reopened his backpack interface.
[delicious bento box ×132]
[5 L Mineral Water ×42]
[Case of Fruit ×13]
[Case of Wine ×15]
[Carton of Cigarettes ×14]
[1.4 Billion Berries]
[Jewelry Box ×3]
[Famed Sword ×1]
[jitte ×1]
[stone of translocation ×1]
[portable villa ×1]
[grim reapers guidance ×1]
All were common-grade drops he'd mostly ignored; white items filled his pack.
Since leaving, the Straw Hats had lived off Sanji's cooking; the bento boxes were obsolete.
Sanji's multi-course meals were almost as tasty and far more varied.
Among the clutter was a sword seized from a Celestial Dragon mansion.
Dante Voss frowned and pulled it out.
Its unique material stood head and shoulders above ordinary blades.
Though no match for the bloodthirsty sword, it resembled Zoro's Wado Ichimonji.
Possibly one of the Great Grade swords.
With a casual toss he flipped it toward Zoro.
Zoro was upside-down, balancing a huge barbell on his feet.
He tried to catch the incoming object, lost balance, and the barbell crashed onto him.
Luckily his tough body shrugged it off.
His gaze locked onto the sword like a treasure.
"This is..." He sensed its excellence even before drawing.
Shiing—
The blade flashed cold light, sharp enough to slice iron.
He gripped it carefully, tested a few stances—perfect balance.
"A Famed sword?"
He looked to Dante Voss for a name.
"No idea."
Dante Voss shrugged. "Found it in Mary Geoise—useless to me, so it's yours."
He planned to clear his pack before leaving the crew at the next island.
Devil Fruits, swords—if they were dead weight, he'd gift them.
Priceless or not, they held no value for him.
