Chapter 86 - Chapter 86: Curze Wins

Bruce had still underestimated human nature.

As the battle intensified, the Sons of Horus who had heard the commotion kicked the door open. At the same time, the Atramentar and Sevatar came through from the Anywhere Door as well.

When both sides saw their own primarch and the enemy's primarch fighting each other with such ferocity, they first looked at one another, then lowered their eyes to the weapons in their hands.

And then, in perfect unspoken agreement…

They sat down to watch.

No cheers, no shouting, no attempts to interfere. They simply watched in reverent silence, as if studying and worshiping the spectacle before them, while the two primarchs fought so fiercely that even the steel floor beneath their feet was beginning to warp.

Even after outside spectators arrived, neither primarch paid them the slightest attention. They continued their savage duel within a three-meter radius, spear and sword colliding again and again, blood sorcery and Originium Arts exploding against each other.

It was the kind of battle both sides would remember for the rest of their lives.

This was a primarch fighting at full strength.

How often did anyone get to witness something like that?

Just seeing it once was enough to set one's blood boiling.

Damn, this was exhilarating.

This was exactly what they had come to see.

And on top of that, it was two women fighting.

As the clash reached its peak, Amiya finally began to falter. Perhaps Horus's soul was gradually reclaiming control, but her sword swings were slowing, and even the light of her Originium Arts was starting to dim.

"I win."

Curze deliberately opened a gap in her defense, allowing Amiya's sword to pierce her. Then, once again, she used her trick of turning into bats.

She dissolved into a swarm that rushed around the already too-slow-to-react Amiya, finally condensing into a prison-like sphere of blood. Inside it, Amiya struggled, trying to break free from the cage confining her.

But in the end, her resistance grew weaker and weaker, until she stopped moving altogether.

Only after confirming again and again that the one inside had exhausted herself did Curze release the blood prison and draw the blood back into her own body.

She looked at the rabbit-eared girl collapsed on the ground, then scanned her with her psychic senses. Only after confirming that the soul inside was the familiar Horus did she finally let out a quiet breath.

Two souls sharing one body.

What a ridiculous thing.

Still, she had been strong. Pushing me this far wasn't easy.

"You're primarch is fine now. She'll wake up eventually."

Curze addressed the Sons of Horus, who had been hovering nearby, wanting to step forward but not daring to.

"Yes!"

Once given permission, Abaddon and the others hurried over and carefully supported the sleeping Horus. The burly warriors displayed a tenderness and care no one would have expected from them, like old fathers doting on a beloved little daughter.

After the Apothecary checked her over several times and confirmed that Horus was only asleep, they were finally able to relax.

Curze then turned to look at her own sons—and immediately saw a sight so ridiculous it nearly left her speechless.

The Atramentar were all gathered around Bruce, while that shameless fool had curled into a ball with his head pillowed on Meiling's lap, muttering things like, "Primarchs are so scary… sob…"

"It's okay, it's okay, Acting Commander. It's all over now. The Primarch is here," Meiling said gently, stroking Bruce's head and trying to soothe him.

She could tell that this time he had really been frightened badly. Otherwise he would never have ended up like this.

So what on earth happened?

Not only was the Acting Commander missing his power armor, even his clothes were gone. Worse still, his briefs were hanging loose, the slit and the flesh bulging through it painfully obvious.

Honestly… it made her heart ache.

"Congratulations, Father. You won this battle."

Sevatar congratulated Curze.

"Are you mocking me, Sevatar?" Curze shot back irritably.

"No. A win is a win, Father. You are the victor of this duel." Sevatar bowed slightly in apology.

On the surface, Curze had won. But in truth, the enemy had simply worn herself out first. It had been a battle of attrition, and Curze could outlast Amiya, so she came out on top.

But it had not been an absolute victory.

If they had really gone all out, if neither side had held anything back and they had fought without worrying about soul degradation or anything else… then who would have won was anyone's guess.

Someone from another world, huh. Not bad.

For the first time in her life, Curze had encountered an opponent who genuinely made her uneasy.

So the recruit and that blue raccoon really had been fighting enemies like this before?

No wonder they had appeared in her visions.

Tch.

"What should we do about this mess?" Sevatar asked, seeing Curze remain silent for so long.

"Let's talk somewhere else. This room needs repairs."

Curze swept her gaze over the room, which was ruined beyond recognition, and for once felt a little awkward about it.

"Meiling! Fix this place."

"Understood!" Meiling snapped to attention and saluted Curze.

"That won't be necessary. Leave it to us. After all… this is our ship."

Torgaddon stepped forward and voluntarily took responsibility for it.

Although he was speaking to a primarch, he still could not resist making a joke.

"I never expected the Night Lords' primarch to be this adorable. Still… you really are terrifyingly strong."

"You're Torgaddon?"

Curze looked at the irreverent company-grade officer before her and asked the question.

"Yes! I am Second Captain Torgaddon of the Sons of Horus! It is an honor to be remembered by you!"

"Let's talk somewhere else. This isn't suitable anymore."

Curze glanced toward Bruce, who was still whimpering miserably, and her temper immediately flared again.

"Recruit! Haven't you embarrassed yourself enough yet?!"

"Take Lion with you. We're changing locations!"

"Yes!"

Bruce instantly scrambled to obey.

Not long afterward, the core figures of the two Legions relocated from Lion's room to Bruce's room. When they saw the two primarchs lying asleep on the bed, they all fell into thoughtful silence.

Then their eyes drifted toward Bruce—and toward Curze, who was perched smugly on Bruce's shoulder, looking utterly pleased with herself.

There were too many questions.

No one even knew where to start.

The Night Lords took it in stride. They were long used to their Acting Commander pulling outrageous stunts.

But for the Sons of Horus, the whole thing had gone so far beyond reason that even if they burned out all their brain cells, they still would not understand what had happened.

Why had their primarch ended up in Lion's room?

Why was Lady Lion sleeping like the dead?

Where had all these Night Lords come from?

And what in the world was that blue, round-headed raccoon alien?

If Doraemon had not been hiding among the Atramentar, the Sons of Horus would have thought their flagship had been infiltrated by xenos. More than one of them had nearly started with bolter fire.

"Recruit, after all this time apart, your shoulder perch feels much more comfortable now."

Curze swung her legs as she gave her evaluation, completely indifferent to the Sons of Horus and their desperately repressed urge to speak.

"Yes, yes, as long as you're comfortable."

Bruce wanted to cry, but could only endure it.

As the only person in the room with no clothes on, he very badly wanted to put his armor back on. Unfortunately, it was damaged, so he would have to make do for now.

It would have to wait until tomorrow, when he could get a techmarine to repair it.

"Acting Commander, your power armor seems to have taken some damage. Shall I have a techmarine repair it for you?"

Loken had noticed Bruce's predicament and the state of the armor, so he asked the question.

"Please do."

Bruce answered at once.

"Two of you—take the Acting Commander's armor to the armory."

"Yes!"

Once the armor was removed, the room felt considerably more spacious.

But the main problem remained.

How were they supposed to start this conversation?

Everyone had too many questions.

The air turned awkward and helpless.

Then, in the end, it was Bruce who took the initiative to break the deadlock.

"I know everyone has a lot of questions. Honestly, so do I. But let's take them one at a time, all right?"

The response was cooperative.

Apart from Abaddon, who still wore a sour expression, everyone else nodded in agreement.

As for natural optimists like Torgaddon and Meiling, the smiles had not left their faces once.

"Then… let's begin with the Warmaster."

Bruce pointed at the unconscious Horus, preparing to explain everything from beginning to end.

Not only so the Sons of Horus would understand what had happened—

but also so he could stay alive.

He could already feel Curze's legs tightening around his neck.

If he misspoke or lied, those soft but terrifyingly powerful little legs would send him straight to heaven.
