Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 – Calm Before the Strike

It had already been two days.

Two days since the accusations.

Two days since the chaos in the classroom.

Two days since—

Yuna and Jihun stopped talking completely.

The distance between them was… obvious.

Harin leaned back in her chair, watching both of them quietly.

This is getting worse…

The class felt different now.

Whispers.

Judging eyes.

And in the middle of it all—

Yuna sat calmly.

Like nothing could touch her.

---

Suddenly—

The classroom door opened.

Park Haeun walked in.

Confident as always.

All eyes turned to her.

She walked straight towards Jihun.

"Jihun," she said softly,

"are you free this weekend?"

Jihun looked up.

"…Why?"

A small smile appeared on her lips.

"I was thinking… we could go watch a movie together."

A few students gasped quietly.

Meanwhile—

Yuna's eyes shifted slightly towards them.

Watching.

Observing.

Park Haeun noticed.

And her expression immediately changed.

She turned towards Yuna—

Eyes sharp.

"Don't you dare look here."

The whole class froze.

"You dirty prankster."

Her voice was filled with disgust.

"I don't even know how someone like you got into this elite school."

A heavy silence filled the room.

Jihun frowned.

"Haeun, stop it—"

But before he could finish—

A chair suddenly moved.

Harin stood up.

Slowly.

Calmly.

But her presence alone changed the atmosphere.

She walked forward—

Standing between Yuna and Park Haeun.

Her voice dropped.

Cold.

"Enough."

The entire class went silent.

Harin looked straight at Park Haeun.

"Say one more word…"

A small pause.

"I dare you."

The tension became unbearable.

Park Haeun clenched her jaw.

For a moment—

It felt like she would argue back.

But then—

She scoffed.

"Whatever."

She turned around and walked out of the classroom.

The pressure in the room finally released.

---

Harin turned back quickly.

"Yuna, are you okay?"

Minji rushed beside her.

"Yeah… don't take her words seriously."

But—

Yuna didn't react the way they expected.

She simply nodded.

"…I'm fine."

Then—

A small smirk appeared on her lips.

Harin froze.

Minji blinked.

"…Wait."

They both stared at her.

Because that expression—

Didn't match the situation at all.

Harin leaned closer.

"…Why are you smiling?"

Yuna looked ahead—

Eyes calm.

But something was clearly going on in her mind.

"…Nothing."

But that "nothing"—

Didn't feel like nothing at all.

The classroom was still heavy with tension—

When suddenly—

Yuna stood up.

Chairs creaked.

Every eye turned toward her.

No one spoke.

Jihun's gaze sharpened immediately.

"Don't you dare do anything to Haeun."

His voice was cold.

"I know she spoke too much… but you don't touch her."

For a second—

Silence.

Then—

Yuna laughed.

A soft, almost mocking laugh.

She looked straight at Jihun—

A smirk slowly forming.

But she said nothing to him.

Instead—

She walked past him.

Before leaving—

She paused beside Harin.

Leaned slightly—

And whispered something in her ear.

Harin's eyes widened instantly.

"Wha—"

But before she could react—

Yuna had already moved to Minji.

Another whisper.

This time—

Minji froze.

Completely shocked.

Yuna straightened up—

And without explaining anything—

She walked out of the classroom.

Harin and Minji looked at each other.

Confused.

Shocked.

But then—

Without a word—

They followed her.

---

Scene shift—

Girls' washroom.

The faint sound of water dripping echoed.

Park Haeun stood in front of the mirror—

Fixing her hair.

The door creaked open.

Yuna walked in.

Calm.

Steady.

Haeun noticed her through the mirror.

Her expression turned irritated.

Before she could speak—

Yuna's voice came.

Soft.

"But sharp."

"Your white bracelet is nice."

A pause.

Haeun looked down at her wrist—

Then scoffed.

"Ew."

"I think I should throw it away now."

She turned slightly.

"Since you like it."

Silence.

Yuna stepped closer.

Her eyes didn't leave Haeun.

Then—

She said it.

Directly.

"Why did you do it?"

Haeun frowned.

"What are you even—"

Yuna cut her off.

Calm.

Unshaken.

"You have everything."

"A good family."

"Friends."

"Popularity."

"Wealth."

A step closer.

"So why?"

Her voice dropped.

"…Why did you do it?"

Haeun's expression hardened.

"I don't know what nonsense you're talking about."

Yuna tilted her head slightly.

Then—

A faint smirk appeared again.

"…Really?"

A pause.

Then—

She said it.

Clear.

Cold.

"Weren't you the fake Scarlet Shadow?"

Silence.

The air—

Turned still.

Like something was about to break.

For a moment—

Silence.

Then—

Park Haeun's lips slowly curled.

Her eyes darkened.

And suddenly—

She started laughing.

Not normal.

Not soft.

But sharp… unhinged.

"Finally…" she said between laughs,

"…you figured it out, huh?"

Yuna didn't react.

Her gaze stayed cold.

"So it was you."

A pause.

"The one doing those unnecessary pranks… targeting innocent students…"

Her voice hardened.

"…just to ruin my name."

Haeun smirked.

"Obviously."

Yuna's brows furrowed slightly.

"…But why?"

"I never thought you'd do something like this."

Haeun turned back to the mirror—

Calmly fixing her makeup, as if nothing mattered.

"Of course I would."

A small pause.

"Because of you."

Yuna's eyes narrowed.

"…What?"

Haeun looked at her reflection.

"I've been trying so hard… to get Jihun's attention."

Her tone turned bitter.

"But the moment you entered this school…"

Her grip on the lipstick tightened.

"…his eyes were only on Scarlet Shadow."

Yuna let out a small breath.

"Isn't that obvious?"

"He wants revenge. I embarrassed him in the cafeteria."

Haeun smiled.

A cold, calculated smile.

"Exactly."

"That's why I decided to destroy the name 'Scarlet Shadow.'"

She turned slightly toward Yuna.

"So that he wouldn't even want to know who it is."

"And even if he did—"

Her eyes gleamed.

"He'd make that person's life a living hell."

Yuna stared at her.

"…That's cruel."

Then—

Her expression sharpened.

"One more thing."

"How did you know I was Scarlet Shadow?"

"And how did the prank materials end up in my locker?"

Haeun let out a soft chuckle.

"Oh, that part?"

She leaned back against the sink.

"The day everything started… I was actually really happy."

"Because my plan was working."

She smirked.

"And then a teacher asked me to call the Elite 7 members."

Her expression darkened slightly.

"I was excited… thinking I'd finally get closer to Jihun."

A pause.

"But when I reached your class…"

Her jaw tightened.

"He was standing so close to you."

Her voice dropped.

"I couldn't stand it."

Yuna's expression didn't change.

"…That's it?"

Haeun laughed lightly.

"No."

"I already knew you were Scarlet Shadow."

This time—

Yuna's eyes widened.

"…What?"

"How?"

Haeun tilted her head.

"I overheard you."

"You and Minji… talking."

Yuna's fists clenched slightly.

"And then…"

Haeun continued calmly—

"I used that information."

"When the locker checking happened—"

Her smirk deepened.

"I made sure everything pointed to you."

Yuna's voice turned sharper.

"The cameras."

"How did you know they weren't working?"

Haeun's smile widened.

"Because I listen."

"The day I went to call the teacher…"

"I overheard some of them talking."

"…The cameras in the girls' locker area were broken."

A pause.

"So I took my chance."

Silence filled the washroom.

Heavy.

Dangerous.

Yuna stood there—

Processing everything.

Every piece.

Every move.

Every betrayal.

And in front of her—

Park Haeun stood confidently.

Like she had already won.

But—

What she didn't know was—

Yuna had already planned ahead.
