Chapter 94 - Drawing

SF Chapter 94: Drawing

Daniel was having breakfast with his nephew Jake in Malibu. Besides them, there was a surfer named Cindy.

"I have my own room at Mom's house too. My dad doesn't. His stuff's in the garage," Jake commented to the woman.

"Do you know how to play Vampire Hunter? Because I just got it," he added.

"No, sorry. Dani, do you know where the paper towels are?" Cindy asked.

Dani pointed toward one of the upper kitchen cabinets. "I think there are some up there."

The woman opened the cabinet and stood on her tiptoes to reach the paper towels, lifting her shirt just enough to reveal her underwear and a tattoo on her lower back.

"Wow," Jake said, staring wide-eyed.

Alan, who had appeared at that exact moment, also exclaimed with a goofy expression.

"Wow."

Dani simply said nonchalantly, "Didn't know you had a tattoo, Cindy."

She pulled her shirt back down. "Where were you looking, Dani?"

"At your neck. I think the tattoo artist gave you a little extra without you noticing." He lied shamelessly.

She just narrowed her eyes, but said nothing more.

"Hey, Jake, it's time to get dressed," Alan said, walking over and patting him on the shoulder.

A short while later, Charlie appeared in the kitchen and walked over to the table.

"Hey, Cindy." He gave her a small smile.

"Hi, Charlie. How are you doing?"

"Not bad. How about yourself?"

She kissed him on the cheek. "Pretty good. Thanks again."

Right after that, she ran a hand through Dani's hair. "See you soon, guys."

"Anytime," Charlie said with a wave before sitting down to have his breakfast.

Cindy headed out through the patio.

Alan stared at him in disbelief. "'How are you doing?' 'Thanks again?' Charlie, casual sex is one thing, but this is just lazy."

"What are you talking about, Alan? I didn't have sex with her. She surfs at the Point, uses my shower, and then goes to work."

"So you're not sleeping with her?" Alan asked.

"Jeez, Alan, I don't sleep with every buff surfer chick who uses my shower," Charlie replied. "What kind of guy do you think I am?"

"Okay... but I don't want women flashing their butt tattoos at my son."

"Cindy has a tattoo?"

"A butterfly," Dani answered this time.

Charlie turned to him. "Right cheek or left?"

But then he quickly waved his hands. "No, wait, don't tell me. I want to be surprised."

Alan snorted. "So you're not sleeping with her, but you want to."

"Of course," Charlie said, looking at Alan as if he were an idiot before turning to his other brother with a look that clearly said, Can you believe this guy?

Dani shook his head in disapproval at Alan. "What kind of question is that, bro?"

"Besides, we're at a Malibu beach house with a deck facing the ocean. Jake can see boobs and butts just by looking outside." He gestured toward the beach. "I think it's a little too late for that, Alan."

Alan looked at his two brothers for a moment, then decided not to say anything and left for work, dropping Jake off at school first.

Dani went for his morning walk and then headed to the gym, as usual.

A few hours later, the doorbell rang, and Charlie answered it.

"Hey, Judith. Alan's at work."

"I know where Alan is. I came to talk to you," she replied with a less-than-friendly expression.

Then she got straight to the point.

"Jake's fourth-grade class was given a simple assignment: draw something interesting you see around the house."

"One child drew a record player. Another drew a parrot. My son drew this."

She held up a drawing, "A woman's butt with a butterfly tattoo."

"Kid's an artist," Dani laughed after walking in from the hallway and hearing what she had said.

Judith glared at him with her arms crossed.

"Come on, Judith. Not everyone has to wait until their late thirties to figure out what they like," he remarked, making her expression darken even more.

Charlie laughed but quickly stopped when Judith shot him a glare.

She continued. "I asked him where he saw this. He said, 'In Uncle Charlie's kitchen.'"

Charlie had to sit through a lecture from her while Dani completely ignored the whole thing.

[Dani and Charlie commentary]

"I wonder what Judith's reaction would've been if the drawing had been a giant penis, like the ones Alan used to draw when he was little," Dani wondered aloud while sitting on the couch in Malibu.

Daniel had heard this information from his mother.

Charlie, who was sitting beside him, decided to reveal a secret.

"To tell you the truth, I was the one who drew the penises and put them in Alan's notebooks. And at his homework."

"Oh." Dani glanced at his brother, then shrugged. "Anyway, I put that idea in Superbad. Thought it was a funny joke."

A few days later, Daniel was holding Lily in his arms.

"This one will be great," Cam said while looking at one of the outfits Dani had bought for his niece.

"Yeah, I think Lily has more costume changes than Cher," Mitchell remarked sarcastically while looking at the duo.

"Oh, got that one too. Cher," Dani pointed out, earning a high five from Cam.

[Cam commentary]

"I guess I'm somewhat of a shutterbug," Cam remarked, sitting in a chair at the house, "and my favorite model, of course, is Lily."

"I just completed a series of photographs of her dressed as various pop icons. Olivia Newton-John. Madonna, the early years. Britney Spears. Stevie Wonder."

"And Daniel is one of the people who supports and finances it the most," he finished.

[Commentary ends]

"Anyway, back to the story," Daniel continued, returning to his conversation with his brother. "The other day, Judith came by to bother us again, and she ended up meeting Cindy."

Cam immediately summarized, "The surfer girl your brother Charlie couldn't get is with Judith? What terrible taste. That's why I don't trust lesbians."

"Cam," Mitchell admonished him.

"Yeah... that's why Alan has been even more annoying lately," Daniel finished.

"Now, if you'll excuse me," he said, kissing Lily on the head, "I need to buy a new suit. I have a party tomorrow."

The next day would be the Primetime Emmy Awards, the event Lexi had invited him to attend.
