Chapter 114 - Ch91- After Seven Months...

Chapter 91 — Reunion Arrival

The Sydney skyline glimmered as the sun dipped below the harbor, throwing streaks of gold across Care's sprawling mansion. Inside, the atmosphere was calm yet charged, a quiet anticipation hanging in the air. For the first time in seven months, the entire group—almost—was gathering under one roof.

In the study, Care sat at the head of a long oak table, fingers laced, eyes fixed on a screen displaying Trinity Hospital's latest reports. Beside her, Cole leaned back in his chair, jaw tight, scanning missed notifications on a tablet. Nova and Ben hovered nearby, leaning over paperwork and patient logs. The discussion was clinical, methodical, but every word carried weight.

"Daisy has missed three consecutive board meetings," Care said, her voice steady but her eyes betraying worry. "And several rounds, too. Labs, surgeries… all of it."

Ben frowned. "She's brilliant, but even the best can burn out. Have we tried contacting Joong?"

Cole's hands slammed on the table, jolting the others. "I've called him three times! He's in Seoul for Lucas company matters. Daisy is completely alone."

Nova exhaled sharply. "We can't just assume she's fine. Mental fatigue is serious. We need to talk to her directly—soon."

Care nodded, trying to balance authority with concern. "That's why the reunion this week is perfect. Everyone's here. We can keep an eye on her, guide her if necessary."

Even as they strategized, the first arrivals began trickling in through the grand entrance of the mansion. Ash entered first, radiating poise and confidence. Her long hair reflected the chandelier light, and her aura made the room feel larger. She had achieved global fame in architecture, yet her expression softened as she scanned the group. "It's… strange to be all together again," she murmured, her eyes briefly meeting Care's.

Lyra and Alex arrived together, still entwined in that quiet intimacy forged over months of surviving trauma. Lyra leaned on Alex's shoulder, a small smile lighting her face. Alex's hand brushed hers; their bond was effortless, the kind of comfortable love that only comes after the storm.

Next came Kiefer and JJ. Both exuded control and calm authority, the kind that comes from running empires. JJ's sharp eyes scanned the room, while Kiefer's presence seemed to dominate space without effort. Even the other billionaires respected the quiet power they radiated.

Percy burst through the doorway next, Honey laughing behind him. Her belly round with five months of pregnancy, she twirled in a soft pink dress, laughter spilling into the room. Percy's energy was chaotic, teasing Honey endlessly, earning only mock protests from her.

Cin and Rakhi arrived in tandem, their calm, poised energy slightly contrasting the rest. Rakhi, six months pregnant, carried herself gracefully, yet her eyes sparkled with mischief as she whispered jokes to Cin, who pretended to frown.

Ella and Aries followed, lighthearted and teasing, joking about the last reunion and almost tripping over a rug, eliciting laughter. Freya and Endrix entered last, their banter immediate, poking fun at everyone from Percy's theatrics to Kiefer's stoicism.

Inside the grand living room, everyone finally assembled. The chatter started light, teasing, and chaotic.

Cole leaned against the staircase, observing quietly. His gaze frequently flickered to Care, and though neither spoke, the unspoken understanding lingered—moments of comfort intertwined with something heavier, something neither of them had named yet.

Care caught his glance, and her lips curved faintly. Just a hint of a smile. She knew he was always watching, always considering, always calculating—but there was softness beneath it now.

Meanwhile, Percy had already started a playful quarrel with Alex, arguing about who had the better golf swing. Honey laughed, Cin shook his head, and Rakhi rolled her eyes. Freya and Endrix orchestrated a small prank, somehow tipping over a vase without anyone noticing, and Ella quietly documented it on her phone.

Ash drifted toward Care, a soft smile on her face. "You've held everything together," she said, almost whispering. "Even now, after everything."

Care nodded quietly. "We survive. That's what we do."

The air was lively, full of laughter, teasing, and old bonds rekindled. And yet… the elephant in the room remained. Daisy's absence. Her empty bedroom echoed quietly through the mansion, a silent reminder no one dared voice too loudly.

"Where's Daisy?" Lyra finally asked, softly. Alex frowned.

"She hasn't answered calls," Cole replied, voice clipped. "She's not coming."

Percy scoffed. "She's probably hiding somewhere… plotting a new chaos scheme?"

Honey frowned. "You don't joke about this. She hasn't been herself."

Kiefer's face hardened. "Joong is gone. She's alone. And we've ignored it too long."

JJ placed a hand on his arm. "Calm first. Observe. We'll figure it out tonight."

The night began with dinner—chaotic, emotional, and yet layered with tension. Conversations overlapped: Lyra telling Alex about new architectural projects, Ash quietly recounting her latest awards, Freya teasing Percy about his overeating, Ella and Aries giggling over a childhood memory, and Kiefer quietly issuing subtle reminders to the group about schedules, safety, and strategy.

But through all this noise, Daisy's absence loomed. Her bed in the guest wing was made, neat as always, but untouched in terms of personal presence. Care's gaze lingered there more than once. Cole noticed. He stiffened every time someone mentioned her. Nova subtly observed too, and Ben quietly made mental notes about monitoring her progress the next day.

At the terrace after dinner, Cole and Care stepped outside. The night air was crisp, the Sydney lights sparkling across the harbor. Care leaned on the railing, lost in thought. Cole approached, keeping a few feet between them, careful not to intrude, but close enough to offer comfort.

"You're thinking about her," Cole said softly.

Care nodded. "She's been hiding. Pretending. And we missed it."

Cole remained silent, letting her words sink in. Then, with the faintest edge of worry, he added, "We'll fix it. Together."

A few feet away, the rest of the group chatted and laughed, unaware of the quiet storm brewing inside the mansion. Percy teased Honey about dancing too late, Rakhi whispered to Cin about cooking mishaps, Lyra and Alex held hands across the table, Freya and Endrix plotted another harmless prank, Ella quietly watched everyone with amusement, and Kiefer, JJ, and Ash exchanged quiet glances, all aware that the night held more than just laughter.

And in the quiet, empty wing of the mansion, Daisy's closed door remained the dark center of their attention, a silent heartbeat of worry they all tried to ignore but could not.

It was the reunion they had all been waiting for. But it was also the start of a long, chaotic, emotional week—one that would uncover truths, test loyalties, and challenge the strongest bonds.

Because in that mansion, under the Sydney stars, all was not as perfect as it seemed.
