Chapter 34 - Power Awakens

The word threat still echoed in her head.

Aria stood frozen, but inside—something was shifting.

No… rising.

"You will come with us," the Council member said calmly.

A low growl erupted beside her.

"No."

The Alpha didn't raise his voice—but the authority in it was absolute.

"She goes nowhere."

The air thickened instantly.

The Council members exchanged glances, their patience thinning.

"You would defy the Council?" one of them asked.

"I would protect what is mine," he replied coldly.

Aria's breath caught.

Mine.

Before she could process it—

Pain exploded through her chest.

She gasped, stumbling forward as her knees nearly gave out.

"What—"

It burned.

Not like fire.

Like something tearing through her from the inside.

Her vision blurred.

Voices around her turned distant.

"Something's wrong," someone said.

"No," another voice whispered.

"Something's waking up."

Aria dropped to her knees, clutching her chest as the pain spread—through her veins, her bones… her very soul.

Her wolf howled.

But it wasn't the same.

It sounded… different.

Stronger.

Ancient.

Her eyes snapped open—

And for a split second…

They glowed.

Not the usual wolf color.

Something deeper.

Something unnatural.

The ground beneath her cracked slightly.

A shockwave of energy pulsed outward.

Warriors staggered back.

Even the Council took a step away.

"What is she?" someone whispered.

Aria couldn't hear them anymore.

The pain vanished as suddenly as it came.

Silence.

Then—

Power.

Raw. Uncontrolled. Alive.

She slowly stood to her feet.

The world felt… smaller.

Weaker.

Her gaze lifted—and landed on her former mate.

For the first time…

He looked unsure.

Not dominant.

Not confident.

Afraid.

A strange calm settled over her.

"I'm not your mistake anymore," she said quietly.

Her voice wasn't loud.

But it carried.

Everywhere.

The Alpha beside her stared at her—not with fear.

But recognition.

Like he had been waiting for this moment.

The Council member stepped forward again, but slower this time.

Careful.

"This confirms it," she said.

Aria tilted her head slightly.

Confirms what?

The woman's eyes hardened.

"She cannot be controlled."

A pause.

Then the words that changed everything—

"She must be contained."

The Alpha's aura exploded instantly, dark and furious.

"Try it," he said.

The ground trembled again—

But this time…

It wasn't just him.

Aria's power responded.

Wild.

Unstable.

Ready.

And for the first time—

Everyone realized.

This wasn't just about rejection anymore.

This was about something far more dangerous.

📖 Chapter 45 – Not Just a Wolf

The silence that followed was suffocating.

No one moved.

No one dared.

Aria stood in the center of it all, her chest rising slowly, her senses sharper than they had ever been.

Everything felt… different.

Too clear.

Too powerful.

"You feel it, don't you?"

The Alpha's voice came low beside her.

She didn't look at him.

"Yes."

Her voice was steady.

Too steady.

The Council member watched her like one would watch a ticking bomb.

"This is no ordinary awakening," she said.

Aria finally turned her gaze toward her.

"What does that mean?"

The woman didn't answer immediately.

Instead, she studied her—carefully, deeply.

Like she was trying to see something hidden beneath the surface.

"Your kind was not meant to exist anymore."

The words sent a chill through the crowd.

Aria frowned.

"My kind?"

A flicker of hesitation crossed the woman's face.

But only for a second.

"Long ago," she began, "there were wolves who were not bound by a single mate… nor controlled by pack law."

The Alpha beside Aria stiffened slightly.

Like he already knew this story.

"They were stronger. Faster. Unpredictable."

A pause.

"They were rulers."

Aria's heartbeat quickened.

No…

"That bloodline was wiped out," another Council member added quickly.

"For a reason."

Aria's fingers curled slowly at her sides.

"And you think… I'm one of them?" she asked.

No one answered.

But they didn't need to.

The silence said everything.

Her breath came out slowly.

This wasn't just about her being rejected.

Or finding another bond.

It was bigger.

Much bigger.

The Alpha stepped forward slightly, his voice firm.

"She's not your enemy."

The Council member's gaze hardened.

"That remains to be seen."

Across the field, her former mate finally spoke again.

"You're all missing the point."

Everyone turned.

His eyes were locked on Aria.

Dark.

Intense.

"If she really is what you think she is…" he said slowly,

"Then she was never meant to belong to any of us."

The words hit harder than they should have.

But this time—

Aria didn't feel broken.

She felt something else.

Rising.

Dangerous.

"I'm done being told where I belong," she said quietly.

The air shifted again.

Even the wind seemed to pause.

Because this time—

It wasn't just power awakening.

It was control.

And somewhere deep inside…

Something ancient had finally opened its eyes.
