Chapter 131 - Single-Minded [Bonus]

Fukuda Sogo's head coach, Ichiro Kudo, looked at Shutoku High's basketball coach, Masaaki Nakatani, and spoke politely.

"Coach Nakatani, please go ahead."

"It seems Fukuda Sogo really is a strong team, Ichiro."

Ichiro Kudo simply smiled in response. He did not say much more. Instead, he gestured slightly and returned to the bench, waiting for his players to come back.

He had barely settled into his seat when the timeout whistle sounded. His expression immediately turned serious.

In the stands, Aomine Daiki remained silent. He no longer needed to say anything—everyone around him had already noticed the abnormality in what had just happened.

"My god… even Midorima has turned into a monster now? I remember he was a left-hander. But he just shot with his right hand."

Kise Ryouta's voice carried clear shock.

Aomine glanced lazily and replied, unconcerned.

"What's so surprising? Most left-handers can actually use their right hand pretty well. It's just a matter of habit."

There was a brief silence. Then realization spread through the group all at once.

Oh… that's true.

Satsuki Momoi, Kuroko Tetsuya, Kagami Taiga, Kise Ryouta, and even players from the three schools nearby all came to the same understanding.

Left-handed doesn't mean "only left-handed." In fact, many left-handers are quite skilled with both hands, sometimes even favoring the right in certain situations.

So Midorima Shintaro switching to his right hand shouldn't have been that shocking.

It was simply something people had overlooked.

What truly made it terrifying was not just Midorima—but the immediate response from Haizaki Shogo.

The chain of right-handed shots between the two had shattered everyone's expectations, leaving parts of the audience still frozen in disbelief.

"The Generation of Miracles isn't what you've been describing."

Kagami Taiga's voice carried frustration.

Kuroko Tetsuya didn't know how to respond.

What could he even say?

By the second year of middle school, Aomine Daiki had already stopped cooperating with him.

After winning their third consecutive championship in the third year, Kuroko had even left the basketball club entirely. During that time, he had nearly given up basketball altogether, unable to escape his own shadow.

The "Generation of Miracles" in his memory were still just arrogant middle school prodigies who hadn't seen the wider world.

But high school was different.

Stronger second-year and third-year players existed everywhere across the country—players who might not be as monstrous as them individually, but were more than capable of making things difficult.

With that pressure, and with competition between the Miracles themselves, growth was inevitable.

Kagami's frustration, however, came from a more emotional place. Watching Midorima and Haizaki display such absurd skill with both hands hit him hard.

Even in the United States, players of this level were rare. Even in the NBA, it was not common.

That was why his words had come out so sharp—and somewhat accusatory.

Aomine and Kise both heard him. They frowned slightly, but said nothing.

After all, this was no longer Teiko Junior High. Kagami and Kuroko's exchange was just part of their own team discussion now. It had nothing to do with them.

======

After a while, Kagami finally exhaled and spoke again.

"…Sorry."

He had calmed down. Realizing his own impulsiveness, he apologized openly in front of everyone. There was sincerity in his tone.

"It's fine, Kagami-kun. The Generation of Miracles has definitely grown. But I believe… you'll grow too."

Kuroko's voice was steady.

Kagami's eyes lit up immediately. His earlier frustration and gloom vanished in an instant, replaced by renewed determination.

His confidence returned.

Aomine and Kise watched this scene unfold.

Then, almost in perfect sync, they came to the same conclusion.

"That guy… with those split eyebrows… he's way too single-minded."

If there was anyone else in the stands carrying a completely different kind of emotion, it was the players of Kirisaki Daiichi High led by Hanamiya Makoto.

During the preliminaries, they had suffered greatly under Midorima Shintaro's 100% Accuracy Full-Court Shot.

Now, seeing Haizaki Shogo mirror that style and return it back like retaliation—an eye for an eye—Hanamiya felt a mix of relief and twisted amusement.

The rest of Kirisaki Daiichi wore similar expressions: amused, mocking, and slightly cruel.

"That Haizaki Shogo… he's even more disgusting than us, don't you think?"

"Captain, you're right. But still…"

BOOM.
