Chapter 11 - The Last Mask of Truth

The room suddenly felt heavy.

Mehreen was standing, Rashed in front of her—and the woman near the door. Three people, but between them stood countless unknown truths, hidden relationships, and piles of broken trust.

The woman's last words still floated in the air—

"Because you were a need for her… not love."

Mehreen's ears were ringing. It was as if she couldn't breathe properly.

Her eyes slowly moved to Rashed.

"Is this true?" Her throat was dry, but the tremor was clear.

Rashed was silent.

This silence was unlike all the previous silences—it was like a confession.

"Answer!" Mehreen said loudly this time.

Rashed closed his eyes. There was fatigue, hesitation, and somewhere a fear on his face.

"I shouldn't have told you everything like this…" she said slowly.

Hearing this, Mehreen's chest broke.

"You mean?" he came forward.

"You mean it's true?"

The woman laughed lightly now.

"You understood so easily, good," she said.

"Be quiet!" Mehreen shouted.

The silence in the room shook.

"I want to hear from him," she said.

Her eyes were still fixed on Rashed.

Rashed slowly opened his eyes.

His eyes no longer had the strength they had before—rather, a shadow of a broken confession.

"Yes…" she said.

One word.

But that one word shattered Mehreen's world.

Tears rolled down her eyes.

She shook her head—again and again.

"No… no… this can't be…" she whispered.

She felt—this moment was a nightmare.

But it was real.

The woman slowly stepped forward.

"You thought he loved you and married you?" she said coldly.

Mehreen didn't say anything.

She just stood there—on the verge of breaking down.

The woman said again—

"He married you because he needed you."

"What do you need?" Mehreen suddenly raised her head and asked.

Tears welled up in her eyes, but a stubbornness was rising within that water.

The woman was silent for a moment.

Then she said slowly—

"A chance to go abroad."

Everything in the room seemed to stop again.

Mehreen's head spun.

"What?" she whispered.

Rashed came forward now.

"I wanted to tell you…" she said.

"But I didn't," Mehreen cut her off.

There was no trembling in her throat this time—rather a cold hardness.

"Tell me everything," she said.

"I will listen to everything today."

Rashed was silent for a moment.

Then she said slowly—

"You know, I have been trying to go abroad for a long time."

Mehreen was silent.

"But it wasn't on my own merit," Rashed said.

"Then… I found out about you."

Mehreen's chest heaved.

"You're a good student… your results are good… you can apply for a scholarship," Rashed said.

"So I…" she stopped.

"So you married me?" Mehreen finished.

Rashed lowered her head.

This silence was the answer.

Mehreen laughed lightly.

But there was a sound of a broken heart inside that laugh.

"So what was I?" she said.

"A ticket?"

Rashed couldn't say anything.

The woman said again—

"And not only that."

Mehreen looked.

"What else is there?" she asked.

The woman said slowly this time—

"He hasn't divorced me yet."

Hearing this, Mehreen seemed to calm down.

"You mean?" Her throat trembled.

Rashed was silent.

This silence was the biggest answer.

Mehreen slowly moved back.

Tears in her eyes, disbelief in her face.

"So… what about me?" she whispered.

No one in the room answered.

Because this question was very difficult to answer.

Mehreen put her hand on her head.

She felt like everything was spinning.

The person she loved… the person she trusted… was a complete stranger in front of her today.

"You destroyed me…" she said slowly.

Rashed came forward.

"No, Mehreen, I—"

"No!" she screamed.

Her eyes were red.

"Don't say a word!"

The air in the room trembled.

The woman stood silently watching everything.

A slight smile on her lips.

Mehreen noticed that.

"Why are you saying this?" she asked.

The woman remained silent for a while.

Then she said—

"Because I don't want to hide the truth."

"No," Mehreen shook her head.

"There's something else behind it."

A different shade appeared in the woman's eyes for a moment.

"Yes… there is," she said.

Mehreen stared.

"I want revenge," the woman said.

The words echoed through the room.

"Revenge?" Mehreen whispered.

The woman shook her head.

"He used me… now I want to finish him off," she said.

Mehreen was silent for a moment.

Then she said slowly—

"So me?"

The woman looked at her.

"You're just another mistake of his," she said.

This statement dealt the final blow to Mehreen's heart.

She slowly closed her eyes.

Something inside her broke—forever.

After a while, she opened her eyes.

There was no longer that previous weakness in her eyes.

Rather, a strange peace.

"Okay," she said.

Rashed looked surprised.

"What's okay?" she asked.

Mehreen said slowly—

"Today I understand everything."

She stood up straight.

"From today on, I am no longer anyone's hidden identity," she said.

Silence fell in the room.

Rashed's chest heaved.

"Mehrin…" she called.

But Mehreen didn't stop this time.

She started walking towards the door.

Every step seemed to be leading her towards a new life.

When she reached the door, she stopped once.

She didn't look back.

She just said—

"You both lost me."

Then she left.

The door slowly closed.

Rashed stood inside the room.

For the first time, the fear of real loss was in her eyes.

And in that moment—she realized she hadn't just lost a relationship…

she had lost a person who truly loved her.

But now it was too late.
