Chapter 7 - What The Water Left Behind

"Big bro!"

"Wake up, Zane!" She still slapped him.

"I'm up, I'm up. Lily, I had this crazy dream where this unnatural tsunami happened, you were there, a lady looking figure engulfed in light took us to the top of a—" he finally looked around to see nothing but the pure blue sky, realized he was laying on concrete. He quickly got up, walking to the edge.

"Yes, genius. It wasn't a dream." Lily got up as well, dusted her butt, stopped and looked at Zane.

"Wait, what did you mean by lady in light. Mom?"

"Wasn't her, she was slightly shorter. And her aura wasn't purple. Sigh, we've been mixed into a brand new world, and there's no one in sight to explain to us what's happening. How does a tsunami happen twice in a day and at absurd speeds. The first wave was absolutely devastating and it happened in mere seconds."

"Couldn't agree more, something is wrong Zane."

"I might have killed our mother, done—"

"No! She's not dead, don't say that." She sniffed.

"I'm sorry." He tucked his gloves on properly and gave her a hug, putting one hand into her hair and pressing her head to him while she let out the tears.

The city, well the coastal region was flooded, helicopters flying about from the media and from rescue departments. The waves had stopped, he could see their estate from where they stood, decimated, furniture, belongings, everything gone.

"What do we do now? How do we survive?" She finally sounded her age for once.

"I have my debit card, saved up a few thousand Eldric in my account, if we run out, then Mom's account would work."

"Look, seems school's region was unaffected, we could get a makeshift apartment there." Lily added.

"Weren't you crying a few seconds ago?"

"According to grandpa: when Dagonets encounter a challenge, they don't just sit there and dwell on it, they take action immediately and move on."

"Well said, well said. Too bad he died."

"So, moron. You realize all these plans won't work if we don't get off this darn building, right?"

"Back to your old self, I see. Signal a chopper for me."

"And what would you be doing?"

"Covering tracks."

He went to the door leading into the building and opened it, it was a thirty-nine floored building, the water filled floor one but not entirely, all he needed to do was sabotage a window or something, to keep it as evidence that he and his sister broke in and ran to the roof. He was able to break a window after several attempts of hitting tempered glass, as soon as he got to the roof, his sister caught the attention of a helicopter finally flying that high.

Five minutes flight to the rescue center where they met a lot of people, they were provided food, water and new clothing. He pulled out his phone to see if he could contact Marcus or anyone.

"Ghost!!" A voice called from across the room, every other noise seemed to stop. Zane looked ahead with a seeking face, eyes scanning around till it pinpointed on a dude in a white bath robe.

"The gang's safe bro, what a weird seismic activity."

"That's not the only weird thing going on. My mom's missing bro."

"Ei yo, no, stop the cap."

"I'm not joking, Lily's over there, you could confirm from her."

"How did that happen? I'm so sorry man."

"It's fine, we're not sure what happened ourselves, after the first tsunami we didn't see her."

"Ouch."

He spotted Yuki.

"Give me a minute Mark."

"Hey."

She turned around.

"Oh, Zane. Hi."

"Did you make it home in time?" He asked.

"Yeah, you?" She brushed her hair off her face and looked at him in the eyes.

He looked away.

"Uhm, yeah. You could say I did."

He put his hands in his back pockets to calm his nervous shakes.

"I'll see you around then."

"Later, Zane. And please take care of yourself."

"I will."

He turned around heading to his sister.

"I need to go secure us an apartment asap, from the looks of it, these guys don't have homes anymore too, in a matter of hours the ones with money would realize that and go get some."

"Wait, I'll come with you. You'd pick something dark and mystical if I let you be."
