Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Aftermath

The fire had finally died.

What remained of the Hale house was nothing but a blackened skeleton of wood and stone. Smoke still curled lazily into the night sky as embers glowed beneath piles of collapsed beams. no screams can be heard.

The forest around the ruins was eerily quiet.

Ash drifted through the air like gray snow.

Figures slowly emerged from the tree line.

Supernatural from neighboring territories—wolves who had come to answer the scent of burning pack territory—stood silently around the wreckage. Their faces were grim.

No one spoke.

Because everyone knew what this meant.

A pack had fallen tonight.

Footsteps pounded through the forest.

Two humanoid shadows burst through the trees at full speed before shifting back into their human forms.

Laura Hale and Derek Hale stumbled to a halt as the ruins of their home came into view.

For a moment, neither of them moved.

Derek's voice came out as a whisper.

"No…"

Laura's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at the smoking ruins.

"No… no… no…"

She ran forward, ignoring the heat still rising from the ashes.

(AN: the mountain ash also burned by the fire so its understandable that laura can enter the ruins)

"Mom?!"

Her voice echoed across the ruins.

"Peter?!"

No answer came.

Derek rushed after her, grabbing her arm.

"Laura—wait!"

But she tore free.

"Mom!!"

The silence that answered her was unbearable.

Derek looked around wildly.

Burned wood.

Collapsed walls.

Ash.

Nothing else.

His chest tightened painfully.

"They're… they're not…"

He couldn't finish the sentence.

Nearby, one of the visiting werewolves stepped forward.

A tall man with gray hair and amber eyes.

"We drove the hunters away," he said quietly.

Laura spun toward him.

"Then why did this happened?!"

Her voice cracked.

The man looked toward the ruins.

"We arrived too late. our territories are far apart, you know we are territorial beings."

"we run here as fast as we can, for Talia"

Derek's fists clenched.

"No."

His breathing grew heavy.

"No… they can't all be…"

Another wolf knelt near a pile of charred debris.

"Wait."

Everyone turned.

The wolf pushed aside a burned beam.

Underneath it—movement.

"Someone's alive!"

Laura sprinted forward.

Together the wolves pulled the debris away.

Beneath it lay a body.

Badly burned.

Barely breathing.

Laura froze.

"Peter…"

It was Peter Hale.

His skin was covered in terrible burns, his breathing shallow and ragged.

But he was alive.

Derek fell to his knees beside him.

"Peter!"

Peter's eyes fluttered weakly.

His voice was barely a whisper.

"…fire…"

Laura grabbed his hand.

"What happened?!"

Peter struggled to breathe.

"…hunters…"

His eyes drifted toward the ruins of the house.

"…Kate Argent…"

The name hung in the air like poison.

Laura's eyes darkened instantly.

Across the clearing, one of the wolves called out again.

"There's another one!"

Everyone rushed toward the collapsed foundation of the house.

Hidden beneath a partially burned section of flooring was a small pocket of space.

Inside it—

Several children.

Alive.

Barely.

Their bodies were covered in soot and burns, but they were breathing.

At the center of them all lay the massive wolf form of Talia Hale.

She had curled her body around them, shielding them from the worst of the flames.

Laura's heart stopped.

"Mom…"

Slowly… painfully… the giant wolf shifted back into human form.

Talia Hale looked exhausted, her skin pale from poison and smoke.

But she was alive.

Her eyes opened slowly.

"…Laura?"

Laura dropped to her knees beside her.

"I'm here!"

Talia smiled faintly.

"…good…"

Her voice was weak.

"I was afraid you and Derek would be caught in the fight outside."

Derek rushed to her side.

"Mom!"

Talia reached out and touched his cheek gently.

"You're safe…"

Her eyes drifted toward the children around her.

"…good."

Then she coughed violently.

The smell of wolfsbane still lingered in her system.

Laura's voice shook.

"did the hunters really did this?"

Talia's eyes darkened.

"yes…Argents."

Derek's hands trembled.

"Those bastard!"

Talia nodded weakly.

"…they broke the code—" *cough* *cough*

Her gaze hardened despite her weakness.

"They used wolfsbane… mountain ash…"

"…and fire."

The wolves around them growled softly.

The sacred code of the hunters had been shattered.

Laura slowly stood.

Her expression was no longer grief.

It was fury.

"They burned our home."

Her eyes glowed red.

"They tried to wipe out our pack."

Derek stood beside her.

"What do we do now?"

Laura looked out across the ruined territory of the Hale pack.

Her voice was cold

"first we hide."

"We rebuild."

She clenched her fists.

"And when the time comes…"

Her eyes burned with Alpha fury.

"We make the Argents answer for this."

Nearby, among the rescued children—

Arthur Corvinus slowly opened his eyes.

Pain throbbed through his body.

Smoke stung his lungs.

But he was alive.

His gaze drifted toward the sky.

"…I survived…"

Then reality crashed back into his mind.

"I actually survived the Hale fire…"

His expression slowly changed from shock…

…to something far more complicated.

Because now he understood something terrifying.

He had reincarnated inside the world of Teen Wolf.

And the story he remembered…

…had already started to change.

thank God many of us survive, even the children. is this the butterfly effect that they are talking about?but now everything has change, and it made the events more complicated.
