Cherreads

Chapter 3 - welcome to your nightmare!

Lunar dreamt of a village in a forest of pure green. The houses were made of wood and straw; the paths were pathed like people had never known how to build a village. Not that Lunar was judging. He could never build one.

Time moved forward and the village was attacked and set ablaze. Then they rebuilt the village, this time it looked like a small city with a fine castle in the center. Of course it was not as large as a normal city but it was still quite formidable. The houses looked to be made of stone and brick; there were wells and ponds; it was truly a city worthy of a king.

With a flash Lunar began moving away from the city. He moved too fast to see where he was going and then suddenly with a bang.

Lunar shot up and hit his head on the wooden beam that laid over his bed. Lunar was wearing a white shirt with leather pants with a belt that had a sword holster his clothes were covered in blood however and his head was killing him. The bed he was in was covered in blood as well. Yet lunar was not bleeding.

The room he was in had a tiny wooden desk with a quill on it as well as a notebook. Lunar tried to leave the bed but his legs gave out and he fell on his face. He tried to get up putting one leg on the ground to hopefully try and raise himself; he had also reached for the desk and planned to use it for a grip to pull himself up.

'Dameit why are my legs doing this'

Lunar was dumb founded about what the hell had happened to his body for this to be the case. Pulling himself up Lunar looked around again. He appeared to be inside an attic of some kind with only a notebook and a desk. His legs seemed to be healing from his wounds? So that was good.

Lunar stumbled over to the desk and looked at the notebook. The first page had many drawings of different plants with descriptions of each; the language was in ruins but the spell translated it for him.

[wild boin leaf: a small leaf that has medical properties to clear the mind and cause pain to subside.] The drawing of the plant was a razor sharp leaf with red spots and a blue outline.

[wild tip tea: a small vine that has the properties to stop the bleeding of any scratch or wound.] The vine's drawing was wrapped around the description and it had yellow flowers on it with small thorns coming from the vine itself.

There were plenty more of the drawings. Some did the same thing as others, some were poisoned, some could cure certain diseases, but there was one that was the most confusing to Lunar.

[wild deathvally: this plant must be avoided at all costs. It spreads fast and kills all the flora and fauna. If you breathe it in you will die. If you touch it you will die. I have no cure for this plant yet. MUST AVOID AT ALL COSTS] the plant was black as night it had sharp edges and somehow looked like it was spreading around the page even though it was still.

'How strange'

Lunar must avoid this plant then. It's good to know what it looks like and it's even better to know that Lunar can look at this description anytime now… he was going to steal the notebook. Maybe if he found the owner he would give it back.

Lunar grabbed the notebook and wobbled over to the stairs which would most likely be his hardest challenge yet. So Lunar had a good idea of what to do. He sat on the steps and was going to scoot down them when he suddenly remembered something.

'My ruins!'

Lunar then with a smile opened his ruins to see what amazing gifts the spell had given him!

 Name: Lunar

True name: –

Rank: aspirant

Soul core: dormant

Memories: –

Echos:--

Attributes: [kings voice] [musial memory] [fated]

Aspect: [the prince]

Aspect description: [you are born for greatness but no one else thinks so]

'Well at least its not boring'

Lunar read the ruins again

[you were born for greatness but no one else thinks so]

That implies that I'm the only person who thinks that I was born for greatness. Well at least I'm able to back it up. Those attributes look extremely good [kings voice] [muscle memory] [fated] all seemed good, especially [kings voice] the name alone was amazing.

Lunar checked the descriptions.

Attribute description: [kings voice: your voice is intimidating to anyone or anything if used correctly of course]

Ah so an intimidation attribute that will prove useful im sure. I wont say i dont have questions. [king's voice] left a lot of room on the table. Could it work on nightmare creatures? How do I activate it? Or is it a passive? Only time will tell.

Lunar looked at the other descriptions and the ruins glowed a brilliant yellow but no light ever touched the surface he was standing on.

Attribute description: [muscle memory: your body learns faster than others.

Ex: you swing a sword once its equivalent to swinging a sword 5 times]

Lunar's eyes widened breathily. Not only was his attribute muscle memory good, it also gave him an example. Both were unique, normally the spell was vague and tried to hide as many things as possible. But for some reason he had gotten an example. Quite unique indeed.

The final one known as [fated] was in Lunar's eyes the most confusing and mysterious one.

Attribute description: [fated: the strings of fate wrap tightly around you. Some are cursed and fewer are blessed. But very few are both]

It was simple: he was cursed but also blessed. That part was clear what was un clear was the fact that the strings of fate wrap around me tightly. Which implies that fate itself is a string.

His body had more or less healed at this point there was still some ache in his legs. But he could move normally at least as normal as possible. Standing up from the stairs he slowly but surely moved down them. Someone could strike at any moment. There was a distant sound of humming on the outside of the house.

Finally Lunar made his way to the bottom of the stairs and examined the room. There was a circular window casting a beam of light on a rectangular table. Which had pots and pans. Some vegetables Lunar of course could not recognise as to never seeing any. The table had a brilliant blue cloth on it with white fluff on the sides of it. A fire that was dimming as if it had been lit sometime ago was burning. It was inside a stone chimney that surely led outside. There were several chairs at the table, 4 to be exact.

As Lunar stared around the small but cozy home something caught his eye. It was a small note on the only counter in the small house. Lunar walked over to the tiny note. Now that he was closer he could see it was ripped into a square.

to the random person i found laying in the woods you must know i have gone foraging for mushrooms in the great Albine forest ill be back shortly i hope you will have awoken by then

'Not vague at least'

Lunar thought the sound of the humming was slowly getting louder. Lunar, realizing he had not much time left before the lady got home, looked around. Maybe he could hide somewhere before she saw him but it was all for not however as when that thought crossed Lunar's mind the door had swung open.
