"Three seconds," Kael grunted, rubbing his chin. The heavy breacher nodded slowly, "Three seconds is nothing in a negotiation, and in a firefight, you don't need to know what they're saying, as you just need to know where they are. Having the entire database stored locally so it can't be jammed... that's a massive tactical advantage."
"It allows us to walk into any country on Earth," Nadia added, her eyes reflecting the blue glow of the hologram. "We can hit targets in Beijing, vanish into a crowd in Paris, and secure logistics in Moscow without ever leaving a linguistic footprint."
Tony remained perfectly still as he watched them analyze the gear. The device wasn't a surprise to him as he had seen the device once before but was incredibly impressed by the tech, a localized, unjammable translator was exactly what they needed for future global deployment but what truly unsettled him wasn't the device itself. It was the fact that Sentinel had recognized their tactical flaw and proactively offered a solution.
And then, the Sovereign AI dropped the bigger bomb.
"The blueprint is verified," Sentinel stated, the sapphire light pulsing with a steady rhythm, "The terrestrial raw materials acquired from the jordanian surface have been successfully routed to the subterranean levels. The tier one manufacturing nodes have been unsealed. Mass production of the vocal bridge is now available. Awaiting Commander's Authorization to begin synthesis."
The Biological Evolution Lab went dead silent.
Leo's jaw actually dropped. He looked away from the hologram and stared at Tony, his eyes wide with a mixture of absolute awe and terrifying realization.
"Spectre," Leo whispered, his voice cracking slightly, "The nodes are unsealed? You... you unlocked the Aegis Citadel's actual factories? We aren't just using what's lying around in the armory. You can print this stuff now."
Mutt let out a harsh, disbelieving laugh, "Mass production? You mean we can equip a whole damn army with this tech if we wanted to?"
Tony stood perfectly still. His face remained a mask of carved ice, betraying absolutely none of the violent, chaotic friction tearing through his mind.
"Mass production authorized?" Tony screamed internally, "When?! How?!"
His mind raced, desperately trying to map the logic of the AI. When they first arrived at the Aegis Citadel, Sentinel had explicitly stated that Tony's Authority Level 1 was a severe limitation. It had locked away the deep tier systems. Tony had assumed that the manufacturing nodes, the gargantuan factories required to build Aegis grade technology would be similarly locked behind a higher rank.
But Sentinel had just confirmed that they were unsealed.
"Did patching the Kernel bypass a localized security lock?" Tony wondered, keeping his breathing perfectly even as the squad stared at him like he was a god who had just handed them fire. "Or did simply stepping foot on the Jupiter Aegis Citadel providing the facility with a biological crew to sustain, trigger a baseline production override? It didn't ask me for permission. It anticipated the need based on our presence."
He desperately wanted to interrogate the machine. He wanted to demand a full diagnostic of exactly what his Authority Level 1 permitted him to do. He needed to know if he was actually in control, or if Sentinel was gently guiding him down a pre calculated path.
But looking at the stunned, reverent faces of his team, Tony knew he couldn't ask a single question at least for now.
If he asked Sentinel why the factories were open, he would expose his own ignorance. He would reveal that he was navigating the dark right alongside them. He would shatter the illusion of his absolute, omniscient sovereignty.
To be the Commander of the Phantom Legion, to maintain his omniscient facade, he had to act like the master of the domain, even when the domain surprised him.
Tony swallowed his confusion, burying it deep beneath his cold command and had to act like he planned this all along.
"Of course the nodes are unsealed, Leo," Tony lied smoothly, his voice echoing off the pristine walls with chilling certainty. "I told you we are claiming a power that dictates the survival of the species. We aren't scavengers anymore. We are the manufacturers."
The squad exchanged looks of sheer adrenaline. The realization that they possessed a limitless supply line of god tier technology was intoxicating.
Tony looked back at the blue fractal hovering over the central platform. He decided to seize control of the narrative, to give the order before Sentinel could act autonomously again.
"Sentinel," Tony commanded, stepping forward. "Initialize the manufacturing nodes. Begin production of ten Vocal Bridge units immediately. Route them to the armory for immediate integration."
"Acknowledged, Commander. Manufacturing sequence initiated," Sentinel replied.
The hologram of the microscopic earpiece vanished, returning the lab to its standard, sterile illumination. Tony felt a brief wave of relief. He had successfully maintained the facade. He had reasserted his command over the pacing of the deployment. Now, he could finally transition back to his original plan and could order them to begin their training regimens.
He opened his mouth to speak.
"Manufacturing Sequence Initiated," Sentinel interrupted, its voice cutting through the silence a second time. "However, tactical hardware deployment is not complete."
Tony's breath caught in his throat.
"Evaluating current threat matrix and terrestrial infiltration requirements," Sentinel continued, the ambient light shifting from sapphire to a deep, tactical amber, "The vocal bridge alone is insufficient for sustained, unmonitored global operations in hostile sectors."
The recessed floor in the center of the lab hissed open once more.
A new pedestal of light shot upward.
"Additional Tactical Assets unlocked, available for synthesis," Sentinel announced, the amber light casting long, dramatic shadows across the faces of the stunned mercenaries. "Preparing blueprints for the biometric disguise matrix and the biological nutrient synthesis system. standby for secondary hardware reveal."
Tony stared at the new, swirling hologram forming in the air, his Commander persona pushed to its absolute limit as he wondered exactly how much tech the Citadel was about to dump into their hands.
