Even Lith looked surprised.
Neither he nor many of the other first-year students fully understood how much a thousand points were worth yet, but judging from everyone's reactions, it was a massive amount.
"Yes, one thousand points!" Manohar snapped.
"Is the number difficult to understand?"
"No, Professor. The transfer will be completed immediately."
The amulet went silent.
Manohar then turned back to Ash.
"I would like to study this spell in greater detail later."
Ash shrugged.
"That's fine."
The spell was already outdated for him anyway.
Compared to the diagnostic techniques Raphael currently helped him use, it was several versions behind.
Still, seeing two professors become so excited over something he considered obsolete was a strange feeling.
After a few more words, Professor Manohar hurried off, already muttering ideas about improving regeneration magic.
Professor Marth then looked at Ash and smiled.
"Don't worry. You'll get those additional one thousand points too. I promise."
He immediately contacted the academy administration once again and personally approved the reward.
A few moments later, the transfer was completed.
Ash checked his student badge and found that his total had risen to three thousand points.
Even he was surprised by the number.
Three thousand points on the very first day of school was an absurd amount.
The other students stared at him in disbelief.
Many of them had expected to spend weeks, if not months, earning even a fraction of that amount.
Yet Ash had earned it in a single day.
According to Professor Vastor, it was the highest number of points a first-year student had ever received on their first day at White Griffon Academy.
For a moment, the entire ward was silent.
Then the whispers started.
Some students looked at Ash with admiration.
Others looked at him with envy.
A few nobles looked as though they wanted to challenge him again.
Ash ignored all of them just like usual.
Soon the class was over as everyone left one by one.
And Ash went towards the Prize hall to cash in his points.
When Ash arrived at the Prize Hall, it was a complete disappointment.
He had imagined something like a grand library filled with magical treasures, with shelves lined with artifacts and detailed descriptions beside each one.
Instead, squeezed between the Battle Mage and War Mage training halls stood something that looked remarkably similar to an oversized ATM.
A blinking image of an open palm appeared on the display.
Ash followed the instructions and sent a small amount of mana into it.
The screen lit up and a three-dimensional hologram of a clerk appeared.
She was a chubby woman in her thirties with a tired expression that suggested she had spent far too many hours dealing with students.
Her eyes focused on Ash while she examined a crystal in her hand.
"You are Ash from Lusar, correct?"
The crystal projected a detailed image of his face.
Ash nodded.
"Is anyone with you right now?"
"No."
"Is anyone forcing you to spend your points?"
Ash raised an eyebrow.
"No."
The woman nodded and pressed another crystal.
A sphere of light immediately surrounded him.
"You are now in a secure zone. No one outside can hear or see this conversation."
She looked at him seriously.
"Do you need any assistance? I can have academy guards arrive through Warp Steps immediately if necessary."
"I'm fine," Ash replied.
"Thank you."
The woman's tired expression disappeared instantly.
"Two thousand points on your first day?!"
She sounded genuinely shocked.
"Kid, you've hit the jackpot."
She laughed.
"Feel free to browse the inventory."
The display changed into something similar to a webpage that Ash could navigate using mana.
Thousands of items appeared before him.
Dimensional storage items ranged from one hundred to over three hundred points depending on their capacity.
Mana-storing rings cost one hundred points per tier.
Various enchanted weapons were available as well, though Ash quickly skipped that section.
He already had a perfectly functional steel sword and preferred improving his Aura Mastery rather than relying on expensive equipment.
Potions were among the cheapest items, with most common varieties costing around ten points each.
There were also alchemical ingredients, magical beasts materials, spell books, combat manuals, healing resources, enchanted armor, and even access permits to special academy facilities.
Ash's eyes widened slightly.
The academy really had everything.
In the end he bought five spell storage ring for tier 5 and five for tier 4 and then few spells books on tier 5 and 4 spells to study them and learn how to properly cast them and then he can use it to create his own spells.
The whole shopping spree left Ash with only 500 points remaining.
He groaned inwardly when he saw the number.
Spending so many points in a single day hurt.
Still, after reviewing everything he had purchased, he had to admit the gains were worth it.
Most of the items would either improve his studies, help with his research alongside Raphael, or increase his combat abilities.
With his purchases complete, Ash returned to his room.
He washed up, organized his new belongings, and took a short nap.
By the time he woke up, it was already dinner time.
He headed to the academy canteen and ordered a large serving of roasted bird meat, the local equivalent of turkey, along with a glass of fruit juice.
The food smelled excellent.
Ash sat alone and began enjoying his meal.
A few minutes later, three people approached his table.
Looking up from his plate, he immediately recognized them.
The first was Yurial, the son of Archmage Deirus.
The second was Friya Solivar, the daughter of a Duchess and one of the most talented students in the healer specialization.
The third was Quylla, the young commoner girl from Cerea.
Unlike the other two, Quylla looked slightly nervous standing there.
The three stopped beside his table.
"Can we sit here?" Yurial asked.
Ash looked at the empty seats around him before shrugging.
"It's a free academy."
The three exchanged glances before taking their seats.
