The outskirts of city Q look... neat. I've never been to city Q before, I'll have to make sure we go around...touring. It's said to be the best city in the country when it came to touring sites and culture and I want to experience just that. Also, won't it be nice to be able to know every nook and cranny of your boyfriend's city, you know, just in case?
I look at my clothes for the umpteenth time, straightening them over and over again, my hands feeling sweaty from nerves.
Once nana and mom had found out we were heading to his parents home, they had decided to try dressing me up as fast as they could though I was still second guessing their choice of fit. I am sure it mattered but not to the extent they were taking.
Well, paint me shocked! I thought my parents were well to do... he didn't behave as one though so I'd had many thoughts. Infact, him working extra on their company had made me think his family was just middle class so he needed to step up. But this...this was beyond my expectations.
Once the car pulled on the driveway, several people came out of the house. It seems they had been waiting around for this moment for a good while.
"That's mom, then dad. Then the one in maroon is the butler Krattin, there's Arachner and Jennifer. I don't know if Paula is in the house. Don't worry about the dogs they are super friendly after scenting for a while."
"I like cats more."
"I know. That's why I am informing you so you won't have to worry about them."
He'd told me they had two dogs and like five cats. His mom loved cats and his dad loved dogs but the cats had supremacy over everything else, even the kids sometimes.
"Let me get your door."
He was out before I could stop him. Was it okay, In front of his parents? From what I know, he hasn't told his parents exactly who's coming so I was worried.
I watched him leave the car, walk around to my side then open the car door. I gulped before taking his hand as he helped me step out. Just take it like an everyday affair...he opens doors for me every other day so this ain't new...fuck, I am nervous.
"I thought you'd choose to never come back and see us."
"Can you not be extra right now mom?"
"You think I am extra, I haven't gone to your school to look for you or even research about your time there."
"I missed you too!"
"More like it."
"Hello champ!"
"Father!"
The tone of his voice was too formal. At our feet, the dogs were walking around us and I was clearly holding on for dear life.
"Riley!"
I couldn't help but whisper afterall inner fear wasn't the best to deal with as a visitor.
"This is Blane...Drake, drop it!"
He held my waist as one dog whined before stepping back.
"Blane, meet mother, father, Arachner, Jennifer and Krattin."
"Hi..."
"You're cute...can I touch your cheeks?"
"Mom!"
"What? I no longer have cute kids, all of them are growing buff and destroying their skins with tattoos...Can I adopt you?"
I also have tattoos...
"Danny, he's someone's son."
"So? All the others are also people's children and they don't mind."
I turned to Riley once I saw her walk towards me, then she held my cheeks in her hands gently pinching for a few seconds before he begun prying her fingers off.
"He looks like a cat."
"He's mine, go find yours."
"Is this the best way to introduce a boyfriend my dear brother?"
"Have you introduced your wife to me?"
"Tsk!"
Introduce? But, didn't he already know Arachner's alleged wife? He'd helped his brother get home said wife, I have photos to compliment that.
"I am Jennifer. Welcome to our home. Don't mind anyone here, mostly those two....mom over all."
"I can hear you!"
Their mom shouted out after us as Jennifer pulled me into the house. The butler followed us in with two suitcases as the 'men' of the house as Jenny calls them stayed back.
"We don't bite but my son has gone and brought someone home. He should be put in his place and we should be getting to know you, or should we be putting you in your place, you just stole our son?"
"I don't think that's how it works mom."
The two exchanged glances for a few seconds before their mom sighed before turning back to me.
"Do you cook?"
"No!"
"Me too!"
She looked excited about that...
"Although we can't cook, we can help set the table, hope you're hungry."
"I am!"
"That boy, did he starve you?"
"No!"
I really am hungry but not because anyone starved me, though she didn't seem like she'd listen so...let him get grilled if it came to that, it won't hurt and I could just peck him and he'll smile in no time.
**********
"How old is he?"
"What?"
"He looks like a minor Riley!"
"Got to eighteen yesterday. I even took him to his parents house to celebrate."
"And they aren't ready to send you to jail, should I find them?"
"Do you want me going to jail?"
"Okay, you two stop. And you, are you serious about him? You've never brought anyone home except those little troublemakers your mom likes...is he..."
"I like him a lot."
"What makes you think you like him?"
"First time I saw him I pictured us growing old together."
There was silence before my brother chottled.
"Damn, that's hella cheesy."
"It's true, he was sat there looking lost and all I was thinking was he looks cute...back then, if he hadn't chosen to talk back, I don't think I'd have made communication for a while."
But I was glad he'd talked to me. I don't think I'd have managed to see him talk to others and assume me...maybe I'd have taken the darker side to things because there were days I wanted to lock him up and not let anyone else look at him.
He's too cute, attracts all types of damned animals towards himself.
