Champagne exited the elevator into the quiet hallway leading to the assistant lounge,her heels clicking softly against the ground. The building felt unnaturally still, as if the city itself were holding it breathe.
On reaching the door Champagne froze at the sight of a large envelope slide under the assistant lounge,she look back checking if anyone was around but no one was in sight.
Her instinct sharpen, she crouched low picking up the envelope and glanced around again but everywhere was silent and empty. It was too quiet that she shivers out of fear.
She took it inside closing the door,Champagne stood behind the door opening the envelope. Her eyes narrowed, inside was a single photo, an unidentified figure close to Park Bogum office. A note slipped beneath the photo.
"You know what else to do after seeing the picture, be careful with your company". This was written in the note.
Champagne pulse quickened, someone was watching the company and they also knew what has been going on. She pressed her break against the door, weighing her next move. She kept contemplating if it was a good idea going to Seo-yeon immediately, or let it slide away but it was risky. Too many questions, but doing nothing was never a good option.
Her phone vibrated giving a little shock, it was a message from an unknown number. "Step carefully while trying to dig into this, you might regret your three years working here".
Champagne clenched her jaw, on reading the three years, she has worked for Seo-yeon and the company without having any issues and what was this person on about her three years of working here. She couldn't ignore the risk Seo-yeon and the company was about to face.
Meanwhile, chairman Park Bogum was in his office reviewing reports and documents, unaware of someone monitoring him. A shadow passed along the glass corridor,he didn't notice or see but Champagne who was heading to the CEO office did. All she could see was the back of a person wearing all black. Every instinct of her was screaming for her to act but she had to be calm and take things step by step with no mistake.
Champagne finally got to Seo-yeon office, she was in her office reviewing contracts as usual, serene and unshakable.
"Ms. Seo-yeon", champagne said quietly, stepping closer towards Seo-yeon desk.
Seo-yeon raised up her face.
"An envelope without a name was sent to the assistant lounge, Champagne said, handing out the envelope to Seo-yeon without hesitating.
Seo-yeon collected the envelope containing the photo and a note, she scanned it with a unreadable expression.
"Does this have anything to do with Park Bogum?". Seo-yeon asked, with her tone deceptively calm.
Han Seo-yeon has been doubting Bogum ever since, when one of the company's document went missing and it was in Park Bogum procession back then. How the document when missing while it was with him no one knew, it was later found at the storage room with other documents.
"Yes", Champagne replied
Seo-yeon leans back, steeping her fingers, "Then we have to handle this quietly, you and I ".
But Champagne never told Seo-yeon about the call she got warning her about interfering with the things of the company.
Seo-yeon stood up from her chair, telling Champagne to close the door which was half open.
Champagne did, with her fingers steady despite the adrenaline humming beneath her skin. The door click sounded louder than usual.
Seo-yeon started walking closer to were Champagne Champagne was standing, stopping inches away from her. Seo-yeon was the boss now, not the untouchable CEO, she was just a woman calculating survival.
"How much do they know", Seo-yeon asked quietly looking at Champagne softly, as if she was going to lean into her for a cheek kiss.
Champagne kept looking down the floor shyly, holding her breathe every 3 seconds, because she has never Seo-yeon being that close to her, her heart was beating so fast and loudly.
"Enough to be dangerous", Champagne replied to Seo-yeon, "not to expose us yet", Champagne added to stir up Seo-yeon thoughts about her.
Seo-yeon gaze sharpen, "you're certain??, and what is the secret about us that is going to be expose". Seo-yeon asked curiously.
Champagne finally lifted her head up, looking into Seo-yeon eyes, "it's about us personally and I don't make guess about the company ".
There was a pause, Seo-yeon studied Champagne face and her expression, like how she studies contracts before signing them, she was precise. After taking awhile, she nodded twice as if she was recollecting her memories. Actually she couldn't remember a thing.
"Then let's move in together", Seo-yeon said while walking to her table to pick pick her cctv iPad, with a smile on her face.
The word together landed heavily on Champagne leaving with a surprised face. She would never believed that this is how Seo-yeon would want to handle it. But Champagne has always been prepared if anything goes her way with Seo-yeon because she isn't here only for work but to win Seo-yeon heart and more.
Surprisingly, Champagne asked "have you done any background check on me".
This left Seo-yeon with a surprised expression, as if she has been caught.
"Why did you asked", Seo-yeon asked champagne.
"Just asking though". Champagne replied with a corny smile on her face while facing the glass wall.
"Someone bypassed one of the floors access", Seo-yeon said while watching from the cctv footage on the iPad she was holding.
"The person must really be familiar with this building, and knows every route to use without being caught". Said Seo-yeon.
Champagne stepped closer, instinctively angling herself Seo-yeon and the glass wall. She didn't think about it until Seo-yeon noticed.
"You're blocking my line of sight", Seo-yeon said while looking at champagne with an astonished face.
"I know", Champagne replied.
"And yet you are doing it". Seo-yeon replied back.
"You wouldn't mind right", champagne said without looking away from the screen, with a winning smile on her face.
Seo-yeon lips parted slightly, with a baffled smile tugging at the corner as if Champagne finally caught her off guard.
Champagne finally turned to her, the distance between them was gone now. Too close to pretend it was professional. There was a silence stretched between them, tight as a wire.
Seo-yeon raised her face looking at Champagne softly as if she has been waiting for Champagne to make a move on her. They were too close that Champagne could feel her warmth, she could feel the tension behind the calm expression Seo-yeon was keeping.
Seo-yeon's breath hitched, the sound lost in the small space between them. That baffled smile was still on her face but it was starting to soften into something deeper, something stirring up Seo-yeon feelings.
Champagne's hand slid through Seo-yeon's waist, "would you mind boss", Champagne murmured while caressing Seo-yeon waist slowly.
The air in the room felt suddenly, impossibly thin. Seo-yeon didn't pull away, instead she leaned in, her gaze dropping to Champagne lips before snapping back to her eyes. The tension between them was a physical cord pulling them together until the distance was gone.
"Calling me boss now?", Seo-yeon said with her voice being unstable.
Seo-yeon reached out her fingers catching the labels off Champagne blazer with a sudden desperate strength.
Champagne used one of her knees, nudging Seo-yeon thighs apart, so she could step in fully between them. Seo-yeon took few steps back, making her lean her back on her desk.
Champagne kissed Seo-yeon on the lips lightly, making it look like she was asking for permission to continue.
Seo-yeon slid her hands through Champagne's hair, this was a signal to Champagne telling her to go on.
Champagne hands flew to Seo-yeon waist, bunching the slik of her blouse. Champagne kissed her slow at first, then sucked Seo-yeon's bottom lips into her mouth, while Seo-yeon kept kissing Champagne upper lips.
Champagne kept kissing Seo-yeon and using her tongue while kissing. Seo-yeon moaned into their deep kiss, her hips jerking up, seeking for friction against nothing.
Champagne broke the kiss long enough to ask, "Seo-yeon' ah do you remember me now ".
Seo-yeon froze, "have we meet. Long before you started working here?" Seo-yeon asked surprisingly. Champagne took some steps backward without answering.
"You aren't answering Champ". Seo-yeon asked.
Champagne immediately answered, "maybe since the envelope that came in earlier talked about exposing us"
"You didn't have to ruin the mood with your uncertain question", Seo-yeon said with a sad tone.
Before Champagne could say something, Seo-yeon got a call from her friend, making Champagne leave the office.
Champagne never wanted to take things faster, because she had her hidden plans and secrets.
