Chapter 45 - Chapter 44The Jealousy She Couldn’t Hide Anymore

Obsession is easy to hide

when you're patient.

When you can wait.

When you can pretend.

But jealousy?

Jealousy always slips through eventually.

Because no matter how controlled someone is…

love mixed with possession

always becomes dangerous.

[Isle POV]

I avoided her the entire morning.

Not obviously.

Not enough for anyone else to notice.

But enough for me to feel it.

Enough for her to notice.

Because after last night…

after hearing her voice outside my door…

after realizing I was beginning to understand her…

I needed distance.

Real distance.

Not just physical.

Mental.

Emotional.

Because the moment understanding started turning into familiarity…

I knew I was in danger.

And the terrifying part?

A small part of me didn't want to pull away.

That was what frightened me most.

[Husband POV – The Conversation Begins]

He found Isle alone in the backyard that afternoon.

The weather was quiet.

Still.

Heavy in that strange way storms feel before arriving.

"We need to talk," he said softly.

Not coldly.

Not warmly either.

Just serious.

I looked up slowly.

Something in his expression already told me…

this wouldn't be simple.

"What happened?" I asked.

He hesitated.

And that hesitation alone…

made my chest tighten.

"I found old photographs," he admitted.

Instantly…

I understood who the conversation was about.

"Mian?"

He nodded slowly.

Then sat across from me.

"She watched you in every picture."

Silence.

Because the words sounded strange.

Too strange.

Almost ridiculous.

But the way he said them…

made them feel heavy instead.

"I don't understand," I said quietly.

"I don't think this started recently," he continued.

Carefully.

Measured.

"Whatever this is… it's been there for a long time."

A cold feeling spread through me slowly.

Because deep down…

I already knew that.

Not consciously.

Not fully.

But somewhere inside me…

I had always felt there was something different about the way she looked at me.

Something too intense.

Too focused.

Too constant.

And now…

someone else had noticed it too.

Which made it real in a way it hadn't been before.

[Isle POV – The Dangerous Admission]

"She used to follow me everywhere when we were younger," I admitted softly.

His eyes lifted toward mine immediately.

"She what?"

"She cried whenever I spent too much time with other people," I continued slowly.

Memories I hadn't thought about in years…

surfacing suddenly.

"She hated when I made close friends."

The silence between us deepened.

Not shocked.

Not dramatic.

Just deeply unsettling.

"Why didn't you think that was strange?" he asked carefully.

Because I was a child too.

The answer stayed inside my head.

Because back then…

it had felt normal.

Protective.

Overattached maybe.

But not dangerous.

Not like this.

Not until now.

And realizing that…

made something inside me tremble quietly.

Because maybe…

this truly had been growing for years.

And none of us noticed.

[Mian POV – Jealousy Triggered]

She noticed immediately.

The distance.

The conversation.

The way Isle and her husband stayed together longer than usual.

The way Isle looked thoughtful afterward.

Serious.

Emotionally affected.

And something ugly stirred inside her chest instantly.

Jealousy.

Sharp.

Hot.

Possessive.

Because Isle was supposed to come closer to her now.

Not back toward him.

Not after everything.

Not after Isle had finally begun understanding.

And that thought alone…

was enough to crack the calm mask slightly.

[Isle POV – The First Manipulation]

I crossed another line that evening.

This one more intentional.

More conscious.

My mother was helping prepare dinner when I walked into the kitchen.

"She seems upset today," I said casually.

Not accusing.

Not direct.

Just observant.

My mother frowned slightly.

"Mian?"

I nodded softly.

"She looked angry earlier."

That was it.

Tiny.

Simple.

But deliberate.

Because now…

my mother would start observing her mood differently.

Watching for signs.

Questioning changes.

And I knew exactly what I was doing.

I manipulated perception.

Just like she did.

The realization hit instantly afterward.

And yet…

I didn't stop.

Because part of me had already accepted it.

Accepted that kindness alone wouldn't protect me anymore.

[Dinner Scene – Cracks Appear]

Dinner felt wrong immediately.

Subtle.

But tense.

My mother watched Mian more closely.

My father noticed her silence.

My husband observed everything quietly again.

And Mian…

she sensed it all.

Of course she did.

Which meant…

she also knew someone caused it.

Her eyes found mine across the table.

Sharp.

Focused.

Dangerously calm.

And for the first time…

there was visible jealousy there.

Not hidden.

Not controlled perfectly.

Real.

Especially when my husband spoke to me softly.

Especially when I smiled faintly back.

I saw her fingers tighten around her glass.

Just slightly.

But enough.

Enough to reveal the crack.

And suddenly…

I understood something important.

Jealousy weakened her.

Not completely.

But enough to disrupt her control.

Enough to make her emotional.

And emotions…

create mistakes.

[Mian POV – Possession Exposed]

She hated it.

The way he looked at Isle.

The familiarity.

The history.

The right he still had to stand beside her so naturally.

After everything.

After failing her.

After hurting her.

And worst of all…

Isle still responded to him.

Still softened around him sometimes.

Still leaned toward him instinctively.

That alone felt unbearable.

Because in Mian's mind…

Isle belonged with her.

Not legally.

Not socially.

But emotionally.

Completely.

And every moment Isle gave someone else…

felt stolen.

Wrong.

Unacceptable.

[Final Scene – Isle POV: A Dangerous Discovery]

That night…

I couldn't stop thinking about her expression at dinner.

That brief crack in her control.

That jealousy.

That possessiveness.

And slowly…

a realization formed.

Dangerous.

Powerful.

If jealousy made her unstable…

then maybe…

that was the weakness I needed.

The first real weakness.

Not logic.

Not proof.

Emotion.

Her emotions.

Because no matter how intelligent she was…

no matter how patient…

how strategic…

how careful…

love still made people reckless.

Even someone like her.

Especially someone like her.

And as that thought settled inside me…

I felt something shift again.

Not fear this time.

Not confusion.

But strategy.

Cold.

Focused.

Sharp.

Because now…

I finally had something dangerous.

A weapon that could actually hurt her.

And the terrifying part?

For the first time…

I wanted to use it.
