When Xue Jing heard Gu Yizhou say "my wife," her entire body stiffened involuntarily. She turned around and slowly followed Gu Yizhou's gaze.
She saw a pretty and cute young girl walking straight towards them. Xue Jing was extremely incredulous until she saw Gu Yizhou stand up, take her hand, and seat her next to him. It took Xue Jing a few seconds to process what she saw before she finally found her voice.
"A-Zhou, who is this?" Su Mianmian came out of the restroom and saw a woman sitting opposite Gu Yizhou. She was strikingly beautiful and had a refined air. Su Mianmian felt she looked vaguely familiar, but couldn't quite place her. "Let me introduce you, Su Mianmian, this is my wife."
Gu Yizhou then introduced her to Su Mianmian, "Xue Jing, like Jiang Ning, is also my classmate." Xue Jing? Su Mianmian frowned, then suddenly realized, looking at Gu Yizhou in disbelief.
"Is she Xue Jing, the female lead from the recent hit drama 'Ex-Files'?" Gu Yizhou found Su Mianmian particularly lively and adorable at this moment.
"She is indeed an actress, but I'm not entirely sure if she actually starred in the drama you mentioned. Why don't you just ask her?" Xue Jing gradually recovered from her initial shock at Gu Yizhou introducing his wife, managing a polite smile at Su Mianmian.
"Hello, I'm Xue Jing. Are you a fan of 'Ex-Files'?" Su Mianmian hadn't expected that one of Gu Yizhou's casual classmates would be such a popular star. She nodded happily, then shook her head.
"No, my best friend is. She watched that drama every day recently and dragged me to watch a few episodes too. You acted wonderfully." Xue Jing thanked him stiffly, suddenly unsure what else to say.
"Would you like my autograph?"
Su Mianmian pursed her lips, her eyes brimming with undisguised joy. "Is that possible?"
"Of course." Xue Jing hurriedly lowered her head, rummaging through her bag.
In the midst of the commotion, Xue Jing accidentally knocked over the juice in front of her. Luckily, Jiang Ning reacted quickly and pulled Xue Jing away, otherwise the juice would have spilled all over her clothes. However, some juice inevitably got on the back of Xue Jing's hand.
Su Mianmian sensed that Xue Jing was a little upset and handed her some tissues. "Sister Xue Jing, are you alright?" Xue Jing shook her head, wiped her hands clean, and finally pulled out a few photos from her bag, then quickly signed her name with a pen.
"I'm fine. I just thought there were no more photos in my bag, so I got a little anxious." Su Mianmian said "Oh," without thinking anything of it. She held the photos in her hands, and while the signature was still warm, quickly took a picture of Song Zhi.
"Zhizhi, Xue Jing's autographed photo, I'll bring it to school for you tomorrow." Song Zhi replied instantly. "Where did it come from? Did your Mr. Z arrange for a big star to meet you again?"
Su Mianmian's eyes crinkled with laughter. "Sort of. You wouldn't believe it, but Xue Jing is actually Mr. Z's classmate." Song Zhi retorted, "What's so unbelievable? With your Mr. Z's abilities and connections, the people around him are rarely nobody."
Su Mianmian pouted. "That makes some sense, but I'm probably just that 0.1% nobody." Song Zhi sent a meme of a little person covering their mouth with tears in their eyes.
"What nonsense are you talking about? You're the president's wife of the prestigious Gu Group, a big shot, okay?" Su Mianmian was speechless, replying to Song Zhi with a "Well said, don't say it again" meme.
Just as she was getting ready for a meme battle with Song Zhi, a plate of sliced steak was pushed towards her. "Focus on your food."
Su Mianmian said "Okay," obediently putting down her phone. She had just forked a piece of steak into her mouth when she noticed Jiang Ning and Xue Jing's surprised expressions. "Wh-what's wrong?"
Xue Jing casually looked away, while Jiang Ning explained, "Nothing, it's just that I've never seen A-Zhou so caring before, it's quite unusual." Su Mianmian's cheeks flushed. Did Jiang Ning mean Gu Yizhou couldn't take care of people?
But she felt that Gu Yizhou was clearly the best at taking care of people. Before she knew it, more than half of her steak was gone. When Jiang Ning offered her wine for the third time, Su Mianmian's dark eyes darted around, looking at the juice in her glass. "Can I have some wine too?"
Gu Yizhou was about to say something when Xue Jing laughed. "Why not? A-Zhou, do you even have to tell your wife what to do?" Gu Yizhou shook his head. "It's not that I want to tell her, it's just that she can't hold her liquor very well." She's basically the type who gets drunk after just one glass.
Su Mianmian knew what was going on, and silently held up one finger. "Just one drink, to taste it." Gu Yizhou noticed her interest in alcoholic beverages, always wanting to try them. Since he was around, he nodded. "It's settled, just one drink."
Su Mianmian was even happier to receive permission, instantly forgetting about how Gu Yizhou had exploited her earlier. She quickly sipped her drink, her eyes slightly narrowed, like a cat stealing a dried fish.
Jiang Ning couldn't help but laugh, "Mianmian, you're so cute. No wonder A-Zhou, who's always been unmoved by worldly desires, willingly entered into marriage for you." Su Mianmian felt a little embarrassed. She thought to herself, "He didn't marry me because I'm cute."
Just as she was wondering how to answer, Xue Jing said, "Mianmian, tell me how you and our A-Zhou met." Su Mianmian pursed her lips, her eyes quickly glancing at Gu Yizhou. "Gu Yizhou and I are actually in an arranged marriage." "An arranged marriage?"
Xue Jing's eyes lit up. "You and A-Zhou didn't fall in love on your own?" Su Mianmian was puzzled. Xue Jing had seemed so distracted just moments before, so why was she so interested in this topic? But she didn't think too much about it and honestly shook her head. "No."
Xue Jing visibly relaxed. She wanted to ask a few more questions, but Gu Yizhou subtly changed the subject. She had no choice but to give up. When her gaze fell on Gu Yizhou's face again, it was filled with an intense, lingering infatuation. Gu Yizhou and the others were currently talking about their school days.
Su Mianmian couldn't get a word in edgewise, so she silently chatted with Song Zhi on her phone, unknowingly finishing a glass of wine. She carefully checked herself and surprisingly didn't feel drunk at all. No headache, no dizziness.
Feeling a little smug, perhaps her alcohol tolerance had improved after the previous two bouts of drunkenness? "I think Mianmian's alcohol tolerance is pretty good, want another glass?" Jiang Ning said, pouring Su Mianmian another glass.
Gu Yizhou tried to stop her, but couldn't. His gaze fell on the pitiful, pleading little rabbit. "Want another drink? Didn't you promise I'd only have one?" Su Mianmian blinked her large, watery eyes.
"I think this wine isn't very strong, and it even has a slightly sweet taste." She implied she wanted another glass. Xue Jing chimed in, urging her to have more. "It's just red wine. Besides, Mianmian is an adult, not a child." Gu Yizhou had no choice but to let her have her way.
And so, one, two, and finally, a third. Leaving the restaurant, Su Mianmian finally experienced the dizziness again. She barely managed to avoid embarrassing herself in front of Jiang Ning and Xue Jing.
As soon as she got in the car, she collapsed onto Gu Yizhou's lap, seemingly exhausted, and whimpered, "I shouldn't have drunk the third glass; this wine has a strong aftereffect." Gu Yizhou sighed and poked her rosy cheek. "You know about the aftereffect?
Who told you to sneak a sip while I was in the restroom?" Su Mianmian smacked her lips twice. "Sister Xue Jing said she can drink a whole bottle of red wine by herself; these three glasses are nothing." Gu Yizhou rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"She's a celebrity; she's always socializing. It's normal for her to have a high alcohol tolerance. Can you compare to her?" Su Mianmian waved her hand, her fair fingers limp and powerless. "No comparison, absolutely no comparison.
She's not only a good drinker, but also beautiful, and a big star—she's a true winner in life." Gu Yizhou chuckled. "Being a good drinker is nothing. You dance better than her, your personality is cuter, and most importantly, you have such an amazing husband like me. Between you and her, who's the real winner in life?"
Su Mianmian, still half-asleep, heard Gu Yizhou praising her and burst out laughing. "Why do you say things so much like Zhizhi?" Gu Yizhou responded with an "Oh?" and continued talking to the little drunkard. "What did Song Zhi say?"
Su Mianmian looked at Gu Yizhou with her blurry eyes. "I told her that your classmate is a big star, and she said it's normal, someone as important as you wouldn't have ordinary people around you."
"Then, I said I might be one in a hundred percent of the people around you, and then, and then Zhizhi said..." Su Mianmian couldn't help but laugh halfway through her sentence.
Looking at her charmingly naive expression, Gu Yizhou's lips curled into a smile. "So, what did Song Zhi say?" Su Mianmian laughed for a long time before finally managing to stop. "So, Zhizhi said I'm the president's wife of the Gu Group, a very important person."
Gu Yizhou hummed in agreement, his tone indulgent. "Song Zhi is absolutely right."
Su Mianmian scoffed. "Right? What's right? I'm just a nobody. If it weren't for the engagement between the Gu and Su families, if my sister hadn't broken off the engagement, I wouldn't even be the president's wife of the Gu Group. At most, I'd be the president's...sister-in-law."
To say something like that, she was clearly quite drunk. Gu Yizhou touched Su Mianmian's cheek, about to say something, when Su Mianmian suddenly looked up, her wet eyes blinking. "By the way, how did you know I could dance?"
