Chapter 101 - Living on the Remnants of Forgiveness

"Why don't we just throw it into the sea? Not a bad idea—it could serve as bait for the harbor sharks," remarked the stocky officer with a hearty chuckle. His laughter echoed amid the roar of the garbage truck's engine, sounding both cheerful and eerie.

"Hush! The sharks around here wouldn't touch such lean, dried-out meat. They'd just end up getting poisoned," replied his colleague holding the shovel, met with roaring laughter from the third worker. "Or should we just toss it into the back of our truck? Let it get ground up along with the rotten vegetable scraps. After all, it's all the same—just trash."

They continued to trade sarcastic jabs, laughing freely at the suffering of that helpless body. Their laughter seemed to become an extension of the universe itself, which was truly mocking Mark. The man who was once revered as a king had, today, been cast to the lowest depths, reduced to the subject of cheap jokes by low-wage workers beside the garbage dump.
