Chapter 99 - JUDGED BY THE PAST

The night air felt bitterly cold and bone-chilling. Mark stood frozen at gunpoint. A flashlight beam was trained directly on his haggard face. The light was blinding, making his eyes sting.

In the dim light of the harbor at night, the man's face came into view.

The man's face bore a very long scar, framed by a thick, unkempt beard that encircled his sturdy jawline. His once-athletic build had become far more muscular, his large, well-defined muscles clearly visible beneath his tight T-shirt—the result of hard labor and the harsh life behind bars over the years.

Mark's courage faltered under the man's gaze, which fixed on him with a deep-seated grudge that had crystallized into hatred. The long scar near his temple only added to the ferocious look on his face at that moment.
