Was he mistaken?
"I find that hard to understand."
She rose from the chair and paced the short distance from the door to the window.
"I meant… I meant that your life is in danger and I ought to put you first… since you just saved my life." She blurted out in a haste.
Theodore paused.
That was not the impression she had given him earlier…
He watched her as she paced back and forth, noticing that her chest was heaving harder with each step and her breathing was laboured.
She was going into a panic attack…
He should have seen that coming.
Theodore rose to his feet and moved towards her. She instinctively backed away. "I'm fine."
That's what she said earlier…
And a thousand times before.
But he still caught her by the arm and pulled her into his arms to stop her from moving.
"Try to breathe properly. Stop thinking about anything else."
"I'm… perfectly fine." She choked out between laboured breaths.
"If you don't, you are going to faint."
