Chapter 95 - Gazebos

The ferret was still on the table by the time he had returned to his room.

Theodore closed the door behind himself, noticing that the animal's head jerked up the moment the door slid shut.

He had barely escaped unscathed…

What had put her in such a mood?

Theo removed his coat and slung it neatly over the provided reading chair before settling down on the seat.

How come the creature was not asleep?

He just sat there and watched it.

One moment, she had leaned close enough to kiss him, and then she had withdrawn the next second, muttering something about how she was wasting her time and how it would not change anything…

And for some reason, he had been disappointed.

Why? He wondered.

Perhaps he had become too used to her. After all, he had put himself in such shoes by asking to cook her a meal. If he had just bade her goodnight like any other ordinary gentleman would have, none of this would happen.

But the thought just would not leave him.
