Chapter 9 - A Blade’s Testimony

"Why'd you call me here?" Isagani said as he entered the room.

"Navi has been found just earlier and will be brought here. You know… you should be more gentle with your words toward him. You know the swords of the Hernandez make you bloodlusted when you're in an emotional state, right?" Mr. Quill said.

"I'm assuming someone killed those kids with a gun, and Navi found out. He was in a state of grief and anger… and the sword easily took over him," Mr. Quill added.

"Is that why you called me here?" Isagani replied.

"No," Mr. Quill said.

"No, that's not the only reason."

"I have new reports here, and I'm assigning you to a mission."

"You see, we're in a war—and we're short on emovere."

"You need to train him faster, Isagani."

"The likha threat is rising. It has reached 40% this year, and stronger likha have been spotted."

"And the bad news is… some clans are in a feud."

"We're in a war while also fighting a growing likha threat in our country."

"I need you to train him, Isagani—"

"…not lock him up."

Isagani sighed.

"…Huh."

Then he left the room without saying anything.

An hour later—

Navi woke up.

His head throbbed.

His vision blurred for a moment before slowly clearing.

He was tied to a chair.

Tightly.

Across from him—

A man sat calmly, legs crossed.

Watching him.

"Good evening," the man said.

A faint smile.

Navi's eyes narrowed.

The man leaned forward slightly.

"You know… while you were gone, we received a report from the island you came from."

A pause.

"They said you cut off the hands of a man."

Navi's body tensed.

"The father of the childrens who died in your house."

Silence.

"He bled out."

Another pause.

"…So that makes five people you've killed."

He tilted his head.

"Should I include the kids too?"

A faint smirk.

"Well… that part isn't confirmed yet."

Navi's fists clenched.

"But here's something interesting," the man continued.

"A butler from the Garcia clan came forward."

"He claims… you stole one of their swords."

Navi's eyes widened.

He struggled against the ropes—

hard.

"Where's my sword?!"

"Oh—you mean the sword you stole—"

"I didn't steal it!"

Navi snapped.

His voice cracked—raw, angry.

"My grandpa gave it to me!"

The room fell silent.

Navi's breathing grew heavier.

"The one who said I stole it—"

His voice dropped.

"…he's the one who killed them."

A pause.

"He killed the kids in my house."

"And the one in the forest."

"He took the other six swords from our basement."

Navi's grip tightened against the restraints.

"His name is Cameron."

"He's been trying to buy the sword for a year."

"After my grandpa died…"

His jaw clenched.

"…he took it from me."

"By force."

Silence.

The man across him leaned back.

Studying him.

"…You expect me to believe that?"

A voice cut in—

"I do."

Both of them turned.

Sora stood by the doorway.

Calm.

Certain.

Isagani frowned.

"…What?"

Sora walked in slowly.

"I believe him."

His tone didn't waver.

"Come on," he continued.

"The kids died from gunshots."

He glanced at Navi.

"He uses a sword."

A beat.

"There was also a child found in that man's house—the one whose arm was cut off."

"No fingerprints from Navi were found there."

Sora crossed his arms.

"So here's what I think."

"That man killed the child."

"Navi cut off his arm because of it."

"Then took the child back home—"

"Where Cameron killed the rest."

Silence filled the room.

Isagani's expression hardened.

"That's… a stretch, Sora."

"I'm just saying," Sora replied calmly.

Then he looked at Isagani directly.

"If you don't believe him…"

"…then let's investigate."

A pause.

"Bring him with us."

Isagani didn't respond.

Sora continued—

"And while we're at it…"

"Let's train him."

That made Isagani look up.

"We're in a war."

"And he's already strong."

Sora smirked slightly.

"He's stronger than me at least a bit."

A beat.

"He almost cut Bagani's neck."

Silence.

Isagani's eyes widened slightly.

"…What?"

Sora nodded.

"Yeah."

"The Duke."

"…The lazy one."

Isagani frowned.

"…Why didn't he report that?"
