Isaac's hands went to his own face mid-swing.
He dropped his fist. Both hands clawed at his eyes. Then he screamed.
Light tore out of his sockets. Twin beams, blinding white, raked across the tunnel wall. Concrete sheared away in long smoking gouges. The ceiling cracked. Isaac screamed through all of it, stumbling, the beams swinging wild with every jerk of his head.
"—this is — ha — covered, I think—" He choked the words out between screams. "—under the — AGH — warranty—"
The beams cut out. Isaac staggered, hands clamped over his face, smoke curling off his skin.
He couldn't see.
NOW. Khan's voice cracked like a whip. He's blind. MOVE.
A crack of displaced air. Zeraya was gone before Will finished turning. Will's bracer caught Isaac's jaw, and this time Isaac's head actually snapped sideways, blood spraying onto the tracks.
For a few seconds, it worked.
Then Isaac's vision came back.
