Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Line No One Crosses

It happened again.

Not as violently.

Not as openly.

But enough.

Zein was walking alone that evening, the sky already dark, the campus quieter than usual, when footsteps followed her—too close, too deliberate to be accidental.

She didn't stop. Didn't turn. But her senses sharpened instantly.

"Still think you're untouchable?" a voice muttered behind her.

She stopped.

Slowly.

Turned.

Her expression calm—but cold.

"I never said that," she replied.

A hand grabbed her wrist.

Tight.

Aggressive.

And for a second—

The air shifted.

Because before Zein could react—

Another hand caught the attacker's wrist.

Stronger.

Unmoving.

Silence fell instantly.

Because everyone knew—

That grip.

That presence.

Ace.

His voice was quieter this time.

But far more dangerous.

"Did you forget," he said slowly,"who she belongs to?"

The words hung in the air.

Heavy.

Terrifying.

The attacker let go instantly, stepping back like he had touched something he shouldn't have.

"I—I didn't—"

"Leave," Ace said.

And just like before—

They ran.

Zein pulled her hand back immediately.

"I don't belong to anyone," she said sharply.

Ace looked at her.

Not angry.

Not defensive.

Just calm.

"I know," he replied.

A pause.

Then he added quietly—

"But they don't."
