Chapter 280: Boss, We Present These Two to You

"Shen Que, let's surrender!"

Outside the window lay a river embankment over ten meters high. If they chose to jump down from here, it would undoubtedly mean certain death.

Although there were items in their dimensional pocket that could help them descend safely, there wouldn't be any suitable places to hide after going down.

Moreover, they couldn't retrieve the RV outside into the space either.

After thinking for a moment, Meng Ci came up with a relatively safe plan.

Shen Que trusted Meng Ci completely, so he nodded and said, "Okay."

The two of them threw their weapons into the dimensional pocket and then raised their hands to walk out.

The group of people opposite had already come over, holding two long guns.

A man standing in the middle, holding a megaphone, put it down satisfactorily after seeing them come out obediently.

"Not bad, you know your place."

"I'll let the boss know to spare your lives."

The man waved and ordered two of his men to go up to the RV to check things out.

After a while, the two came down from the RV, each looking excited.

"Second Leader, they've got plenty of food in their RV, and there's even a box of gold."

One of the subordinates carried a box down and opened it in front of the Second Leader.

Meng Ci had intentionally left behind some flood-soaked rice, bug-infested flour, and other food items in the RV.

Of course, he also placed a box of gold obtained from the tunnel, just to prevent others from getting suspicious about how they survived without anything.

Excited by this, the Second Leader's face lit up, but to prevent any tricks from Meng Ci and Shen Que, he directly threw a fireball in front of them.

Seeing no unusual reactions and noting they hadn't used any powers since entering the town, he bluntly asked, "You're not psionics?"

"No," Meng Ci answered calmly.

The Second Leader didn't fully believe them and ordered his men to take two iron chains to lock their hands behind their backs before he felt at ease.

Afterward, he saw Qiezi and Xiong Ying and swallowed.

"Alright, bring them back. Dog meat tonight, human meat tomorrow."

"Yes."

Meng Ci and Shen Que followed meekly, acting as if they dared not resist, and were led to the group's base.

Seeing the abandoned police station ahead, Meng Ci felt a jolt of surprise.

No wonder they had guns; they had taken over the police station.

They were led to a room where two guards stood watch at the door.

Here, Meng Ci and Shen Que met the group's leader, whom they called the Boss, and to Meng Ci's surprise, the Boss was actually a woman.

She sat behind a dilapidated office desk, her cold gaze scrutinizing Meng Ci and Shen Que.

In her "office," there were countless gold and silver items, jade, jewelry, and even numerous antiques.

Upon seeing Meng Ci and Shen Que, her eyes lit up, and a greedy smile appeared on her face.

It had been ages since the apocalypse, and she hadn't seen such good-looking guys in all that time.

The Second Leader, noticing the Boss's expression, immediately flattered her. "Boss, these two dudes are pretty hot, huh?"

"We captured them especially for you."

Hearing this, the Boss stood up and patted the Second Leader on the shoulder, praising him. "Nice job, nice job."

"I'll give you one-third of today's supplies."

Even though the Boss was only about 5'3", she was incredibly strong, with arms thicker than both of Meng Ci's combined.

Back before the world went to hell, she was a pro boxer who'd even won the national championship.

Since the heavy rains started, she'd used her fighting skills to grab tons of supplies.

During the post-apocalypse, she showed incredible combat skills—taking down ten enemies at once—and slowly built up a loyal crew.

When her powers awakened, her abilities became the strongest in her team.

However, because she had been a boxer before the apocalypse, her physique was muscular and her skin dark, so not many men were interested in her.

But after the apocalypse, as her powers grew, a lot of average guys started throwing themselves at her.

With so many options, the Boss picked only the good-looking ones.

Now, seeing Meng Ci and Shen Que, a glint of surprise flashed in her eyes.

It had been ages since the apocalypse, and it was rare to see such pale, good-looking guys.

The Second Leader, noticing this, immediately ordered someone to prepare a room for the Boss, for the wedding night.

Meng Ci and Shen Que exchanged a glance, both showing some disgust in their eyes.

Meng Ci glanced around and was tempted to take out a grenade and blow them all to bits. But upon seeing the items in the room, he hesitated.

These were valuable antiques from a bygone era.

Soon, Meng Ci and Shen Que were shoved out of the office.

In the central courtyard, some enthusiastic people had already started beating gongs and drums, announcing the wedding of the "mountain stronghold lady."

As the crowd cheered, Meng Ci took the chance to scope out his surroundings.

Ever since Eggplant and Eagle were brought in, they had disappeared, and there had been no sounds from them, likely taken to a faraway place.

Meng Ci felt a little worried, not knowing how they were doing now.

Looking up and down, there were about twenty people in the yard, with only the big boss being a woman.

Meng Ci moved a bit closer to Shen Que, and when Shen Que looked over, he signaled with his eyes.

Shen Que immediately understood his meaning, turned his body, and reached out to grab Meng Ci's sleeve.

Meanwhile, Meng Ci took out a grenade from his space, and when no one was paying attention, he pulled the pin and threw it on the ground.

Just as Meng Ci pulled Shen Que into the space, the grenade exploded.

The moment they entered the space, they were hit by the grenade's blast.

Standing inside the space, both felt a blast of heat, staggering them.

They took a couple of minutes to shake off the dizziness.

Meng Ci and Shen Que helped each other remove the iron chains from their bodies, and then they exited the space.

The grenade's power was immense, so even if the people in the yard weren't killed, they'd be left maimed.

So they rushed out to deal with any survivors.

Once they exited the space, they heard continuous cries.

These people were psionics, and since the crystals in their brains hadn't been removed, even if they lost an arm or a leg, they wouldn't die.

However, zombies don't feel pain, so they stay silent.

But these psionics are still human, so the grenade blast made them cry out in agony.
