Chapter 235 - Leaving, Hail Starts Falling on the Way
"Woof, woof!"
Eggplant crouched next to Meng Ci, seeing the rain outside, and barked several times, indicating he wanted to go out and play too.
Since the rain wasn't harmful, Meng Ci let Eggplant and Eagle go outside.
But he still reminded them not to open their mouths to drink the rainwater or lick their fur.
Both Eggplant and Eagle understood Meng Ci's words, so they nodded, promising they wouldn't drink the water.
Once outside, they frolicked in the rain, and when Meng Ci wasn't looking, the two jumped over the wall and joined the people celebrating in the street.
The people were overjoyed because of the rain and weren't afraid of Eggplant and Eagle at all.
One person, seeing Eggplant's silly appearance, couldn't resist hugging him and rolling around on the ground.
From the second floor, Meng Ci watched through his binoculars, but he wasn't worried—Eggplant and Eagle were smart enough to avoid any danger.
Meng Ci and Shen Que headed down to the first floor and continued playing their game.
"Shen Que, why haven't you been building houses lately?" Meng Ci suddenly asked.
Shen Que sighed, "Adventure is more fun."
After all, he used to build beautiful houses so he could eat meat, but now the rules were too strict, and he couldn't get any meat, so there was no point in building houses anymore.
Hearing Shen Que's explanation, Meng Ci rolled his eyes. What was going on in this guy's mind? Couldn't he just focus on the game?
Didn't he learn his lesson after getting locked up once? Did he want to go back to that small dark room again?
Shen Que quickly assured him that he wouldn't think about those inappropriate things anymore and would behave and play the game properly.
Only when Shen Que settled down did Meng Ci feel satisfied.
"Shen Que, today I'll take you to find the underwater temple."
Meng Ci had seen videos of players finding underwater temples, desert temples, and jungle temples.
After playing this game for years, he had never found any of these ruins, so he decided to try his luck today.
"Okay!"
Shen Que agreed, and they built a boat, rowing down the river until they reached the ocean.
Realizing they'd need a potion to dive underwater, Meng Ci skipped the hassle and switched to creative mode.
Activating flight mode, he began to search from above for the underwater temple.
After half an hour, the residents were still partying, but someone finally noticed something was off.
"Have you all noticed that the rain is getting hotter?"
"Yeah, is this what they call a 'sun shower'?"
"Damn, why does my arm hurt? Is this rain actually scalding hot?"
...
These people talked, but most of them didn't realize the severity of the situation, like a frog in slowly boiling water, they gradually got used to it and kept playing in the rain.
Soon, government vehicles arrived. Someone was holding a loudspeaker.
"Attention all residents! Attention all residents!"
"The rain is dangerous. Please go home right away. Please go home right away."
"If you start feeling sick, the hospital has no medicine to cure you."
Some people realized that if the authorities were warning them, something was seriously wrong, so they hurried home.
But some people disregarded the warning and continued to play outside, only going inside when they started getting burned.
Qie Zi and Xiong Ying, seeing that most of the people had disappeared and that they had played enough, jumped over the wall and went home. Meng Ci's pets, Qie Zi and Xiong Ying, had thick skin and fur, so they didn't get hurt.
After they entered the house, Meng Ci took both of them into a separate space.
Sending Shen Que to bathe them, Meng Ci wandered off to grab a large bag of snacks, and once Qie Zi and Xiong Ying were cleaned, they exited the space.
To save time and be prepared for the coming zombie outbreak, where they might not have any special abilities, they needed to be ready.
"Damn, why has this rain become so hot!"
"F*ck, I got several blisters on my shoulder from the scalding rain."
"Hurry, let's go home."
...
At this point, those still outside hurried home in a panic.
Some who were severely scalded rushed to the hospital with things covering their wounds.
When they arrived at the hospital, they were instantly shocked.
The hospital was overwhelmed with patients, each with burn marks on their heads and bodies, and it was unclear when they would receive treatment.
Meng Ci and Shen Que were unaware of this situation, and after they came out, they had dinner and continued playing on their phones.
Occasionally, they checked whether Qie Zi and Xiong Ying had any burns.
After playing on their phones for over three hours, Meng Ci yawned and went to the window. He saw that there was already accumulated water on the ground.
However, the sun had not disappeared, and the sky was still bright, with condensation on the window glass.
Opening the window, a wave of heat rushed in.
Bored, Meng Ci took a ladle, scooped some water, and used a thermometer to measure the temperature—62 degrees Celsius.
Holy crap, that's way too hot! Drinking water at this temperature would surely burn one's mouth.
The rain went on for five days straight, during which Meng Ci and Shen Que did not go out.
Qie Zi also stayed inside because the rain's temperature was too high, and Meng Ci did not let him go out.
After five days, the rain stopped.
A rainbow appeared on the horizon, and everyone saw it as a symbol of hope, representing the end of the apocalypse, and they all rushed to make wishes under the rainbow.
Little did they know, a more severe storm was coming after the rainbow.
The polar day continued as usual and didn't end just because people wanted it to. The residents had already grown accustomed to this, so they continued to go about their business numbly.
After staying in M City Base for a month, Meng Ci and Shen Que did not renew their lease and left directly.
After leaving the base, they drove for two days, and then Meng Ci brought out the RV. The two of them drove, stopping and going.
This time, they didn't take the mountain road like before but stuck to the flatlands instead.
After just a few days, they encountered a hailstorm again.
The hail pounded on the RV with a deafening clatter. Meng Ci took a look outside the window and was stunned.
Hailstones as big as fingers were falling to the ground, with some as big as fists mixed in.
Shen Que, having seen this many times, was only focused on finding a place where they could take cover.
Fortunately, the RV's windows were shatterproof, so they weren't afraid of the hail hitting them.
But they were worried about being continuously hit by the hail; even shatterproof glass could only take so much.
Sure enough, after just a few minutes, a crack appeared on the driver's side windshield due to the hail.
"Shen Que, how long will this hail last?" Meng Ci asked, looking at the crack with concern. If it lasted a long time, they could hide in the space.
Shen Que said, "At least three days."
Hearing this, Meng Ci decided against hiding in the space. After all, staying for three days would mean seventy-two hours, which would take seventy-two days to build up.
