Ch116 No Way, I Won't Bend Over Backwards for a House
"Shen Que, let me help you."
Saying this, Meng Ci placed the soil block he held onto the roof. Under Shen Que's puzzled gaze, he explained.
"I think we could plant a flower here. What do you think?"
Shen Que thought about it seriously, then nodded earnestly. "Sure!"
While Shen Que was modifying this one soil block, Meng Ci placed several more with a swish.
"I think we could plant a tree here."
"Shen Que, this spot needs a splash of green!" With that, Meng Ci placed a leaf-shaped block down.
"This area could use two eyes-wouldn't that look better?" Meng Ci swung his axe twice, chipping away two soil blocks.
Every time Meng Ci made a change, he had an explanation.
Shen Que finally realized Meng Ci was messing with him and looked up from his phone.
Meng Ci chuckled, not thinking he was being unreasonable.
"Don't touch what I put here, or I'll tear down the house you worked so hard to build," Meng Ci threatened.
Seeing Meng Ci being so unreasonable, Shen Que said nothing, lowering his head to continue playing with his phone.
Meng Ci happily picked up his phone, intending to continue remodeling his mushroom house.
But then he saw Shen Que controlling his character, about to walk toward his mushroom house. Alarm bells immediately went off in Meng Ci's head.
"Shen Que, what are you doing?!"
Without lifting his head, Shen Que replied nonchalantly, "Just going to check out your house."
Check out the house? He was definitely going to wreck his construction.
Absolutely not.
In that instant, countless plans flashed through Meng Ci's mind.
Put down his phone now and grab Shen Que's.
No, Shen Que was taller and stronger-he'd never win.
Or maybe pin him to the couch and plant a few forceful kisses.
No, that would just be torture for himself.
Got it!
Meng Ci's eyes lit up. As Shen Que neared his house, Meng Ci switched from Creative Mode to Survival Mode.
In an instant, Shen Que, still mid-air, plummeted to the ground.
"You-"
Meng Ci's mushroom house was built mid-air, with plans to add ladders or vines later.
Now in survival mode, Shen Que couldn't climb up.
"Trying to wreck my house? No way!" Meng Ci gloated triumphantly.
"Trying to wreck my house? No way!" Meng Ci gloated triumphantly.
But Shen Que quickly regained his composure, lowering his head to begin laying stones beneath his feet.
Clearly, Shen Que intended to build his way up step by step.
Meng Ci would never allow this to happen. As the homeowner, he quit the map and switched back to the previous survival mode map.
"Shen Que, let's go exploring!"
"This time I'll take you to the village. You wouldn't believe what treasures lie beneath the village well."
Meng Ci awkwardly changed the subject. Only Shen Que's indulgence kept him from calling him out.
The two spent the holiday holed up at home, feasting on delicious food and playing games, utterly content.
The house that Meng Ci had previously wrecked was also meticulously repaired by Shen Que.
Of course, nothing was demolished-only remodeled.
Shen Que added soil and railings to the rooftop earth, transforming it into a flower bed.
In another section, Shen Que planted a tree, hung lights from its branches, and fashioned a swing from iron chains.
Meng Ci watched it all with a bitter sting in his teeth.
After Shen Que finished the renovations, he shamelessly shooed Meng Ci off to his own little mushroom house.
Meng Ci then fenced off the entire villa perimeter and placed a sign at the entrance.
When Shen Que saw the words "Shen Que and Zombies Not Allowed," he was utterly speechless.
Without stepping inside the villa, he turned and left, continuing to remodel Meng Ci's mushroom house.
Within two days, Shen Que had transformed Meng Ci's eyesore of a mushroom hut into a luxurious mushroom castle, leaving Meng Ci's eyes sparkling with admiration.
But no villa could compare to the charm of a mushroom castle. So Meng Ci began showering Shen Que with all sorts of attentions, hoping to persuade him to hand over the mushroom castle.
But flattery couldn't compare to Meng Ci's personal service, so Shen Que pinned him down on the kang bed for a little fun.
The next morning, after waking up refreshed, Shen Que instinctively placed a signboard in front of the mushroom castle.
When Meng Ci woke up and entered the game, seeing the sign reading "Shen Que and Zombies Not Allowed" in front of the Mushroom Castle, he was utterly satisfied!
Meng Ci then began researching how to build a railway connecting the Mushroom Castle to the villa, allowing him to travel back and forth by minecart.
Knowing Meng Ci's fondness for such things, Shen Que unleashed his imagination even more. Every time he finished building a new house, he would show it off to Meng Ci.
And if Meng Ci wanted to get his hands on a house, he'd have to serve Shen Que well.
In just a few short days, Meng Ci felt like he'd been sleeping on a ship.
On the tenth day of the Lunar New Year, Meng Ci woke up that morning with a dull ache in his lower back.
Reflecting on the pain, Meng Ci resolved that he absolutely couldn't keep bowing down to Shen Que just for a house in the game.
Otherwise, if this continued, his back would be ruined.
After breakfast, while Shen Que was training Eggplant, Meng Ci dashed into the space for a hot bath and took a look at the crops growing there.
The watermelon vines had already sprouted, sprawling freely across the ground. It looked like they wouldn't take long to flower and bear fruit.
The eggplant seedlings brought back from the base had already started producing tiny eggplants.
Meng Ci marveled inwardly. No wonder these seedlings were developed by a team of agricultural scientists-they were truly remarkable.
Meng Ci ran back up to the third floor, but the wall showed no new clues.
As soon as he stepped out of the space, before his butt even hit the sofa, he heard rustling sounds outside.
If it were Zhang Mingtian or Yun Jingcen, they wouldn't be sneaking around like this.
Meng Ci quickly grabbed the long knife from the entryway, opened the door, and stepped outside.
He quietly unlocked both security doors. Perhaps the people outside were too focused, for they didn't hear Meng Ci's movements.
"Didn't you say you could pick locks? Why isn't it open yet?" A man in a black coat glanced around nervously.
The man wearing the woolen beanie in front looked equally Impatient, his eyes fixed intently on the lock.
"Don't rush me."
Bang!
Meng Ci yanked open the final security door and raised an eyebrow. "What exactly are you two doing here?"
"Picking locks, what else!" The man in the knit cap replied without looking up.
"Don't you have eyes?"
The man in the black coat behind him, upon hearing the security door open, turned and ran.
The hat-wearing man finally sensed something was off. He looked up and froze the instant he saw Meng Ci, then flashed an
awkward smile.
"You... you're home!"
"I... I was just looking around!"
"Li Qiang, run!" The hat-wearing man tossed aside his lock-picking tools and turned to flee.
Even now, he hadn't forgotten to call out to his partner.
But when he turned, he saw that Li Qiang, the man in the coat, had already run far away, leaving him furious.
"Li Qiang, what do you think you're doing!"
"You sneak off without even telling me!" The hat-wearing man accused Li Qiang as he walked.
Yet, to his surprise, Li Qiang, who had been running ahead, suddenly stepped back.
