While Gage sprinted in one direction, Gideon watched him veer off course before changing his own path. He deliberately drew the rogue werewolves away from Gage, heading toward the resort's garage. His only objective was to get Ashley out of the mountain villa resort alive.
But he knew he wouldn't get far while carrying her.
His sharp eyes swept over the area until they landed on a large rockery. Without hesitation, he gently lowered Ashley against the stones.
Hiding her was pointless.
His pursuers were rogue werewolves. Even if she was concealed from sight, they would still catch her scent. There was no escaping their noses.
Straightening, Gideon slowly rolled his shoulders. The angry burns covering his skin visibly knitted together, healing before his eyes. He exhaled a slow breath, then closed his eyes and stood motionless, waiting.
The forest soon fell into an eerie silence.
