Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 : Grand Transmigration II

Earth was gone. The solar system was gone. Yet, human consciousness clung to existence, suspended in a warm, weightless dark.

A presence filled the abyss. It was not a man, nor a king, nor the Sage of Six Paths. It was the primordial intelligence of the cosmos itself. God.

I am sorry, a voice resonated, echoing directly inside every floating mind, soft as a falling leaf yet heavy as a dying star. A scar from another reality unraveled your home. I could not mend your world in time to save it.

The floating souls stirred, filled with a sudden, overwhelming grief for the blue planet that no longer existed.

I cannot recreate what was lost, the presence continued, radiating a gentle, comforting warmth against the dark. And I cannot return you to a place that has been reduced to nothing. But the tear that destroyed your world had two sides, two anchors.

A soft, golden thread appeared in the dark, stretching out toward a distant, flickering light.

The other side is stable now. It is a world of chakra and deep conflict. It cannot hold all of you... but it can save a piece.

With a gentle pull, God gathered the vast ocean of souls. Ninety-nine percent were guided peacefully into the quiet rest of the Pure Land, freed from pain and fear. But for one percent. Roughly eighty million men, women, and children. The pull shifted forward, dragging them down the golden thread toward the anchor point.

Live, God whispered, as the void dissolved into blinding white light. And find a way to survive.

High above the dense canopies of the Fire Country, over the jagged peaks of the Lightning Country, the vast expanse of the Earth, across the sweeping sand dunes of the Wind, and along the mist-shrouded reefs of the Water, tiny specks of white light rained down from the atmosphere.

They did not strike like meteors. They drifted down gently, solidifying as they touched the earth.

As the white light faded, the remaining weight of their past life vanished.

backpacks, phones, tools, and supplies disintegrated into fine, glittering dust in the air. Every survivor touched down wearing only basic, lightweight clothing, simple cotton shirts, trousers, and slip-on shoes. Nothing brought from Earth made the journey across the void.

Yet, as their feet hit foreign soil, a sudden rush of clarity washed through their minds.

It felt like a long-forgotten memory returning all at once. The alien landscape didn't feel entirely alien anymore. Words, grammar, and dialects unlocked in their minds, granting them fluent command of the shinobi world's language. They instantly understood the political layout of the land, the Five Great Nations, the existence of hidden villages, the concept of chakra, and the unspoken rule that shinobi ruled the shadows while feudal lords governed the land.

They knew where they stood, what dangers lurked in the dark, and just how fragile a civilian life truly was in this era.

In a quiet clearing within the Land of Fire, a former teacher looked at his bare hands, the memory of his ruined home still fresh.

Far across the ocean, on a fog-drenched coastline in the Land of Water, a young woman wiped salt spray from her face. She didn't have her wallet, her coat, or her boots, but she knew the name of the country, the danger of the local patrols, and how to read the border signs posted along the road.

God had stripped away their material past, but bestowed the ultimate tool for survival: context. Stranded, empty-handed, and scattered across a continent recovering from the fall of Uzushio, eighty million refugees from a dead Earth stepped forward into the dirt of their new reality.

Thanks for reading the prologue! Here is a bit of context for what's coming next:

While 80 million refugees landed in the shinobi world, the vast majority remain civilians. However, thanks to a little divine intervention, a staggering 500,000 transmigrants were granted chakra aptitude and split among the Five Great Nations, with many more scattered throughout the smaller countries. This massive influx of potential shinobi, especially in the minor villages, is set to dramatically shift the global balance of power as nations begin to catch up to one another.
