Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Seeking the Second Guardian

The cavern of shadows was silent, broken only by the low hum of the black lion's breathing.

Yan Fu stood tall on a jagged rock, his white robes shifting gently in the faint draft. Vorath, the massive black lion, rested nearby, amber eyes fixed on him, calm yet piercing, as if reading his every thought.

He closed his eyes for a moment and inhaled deeply. The cave's spiritual energy pressed against him, and he could feel the faint echoes of the forest beyond, alive with the power of countless beasts.

"I must tell him… but I don't know everything yet," Yan Fu thought.

A subtle pulse stirred within him—a voice, faint and ethereal, speaking directly into his mind.

"Yan Fu," the system murmured softly, like a stream over stones. "The Ji Xia Sect is an ancient sect, its glory lost long ago. Its disciples scattered, its treasures destroyed. You must rebuild it from ruin. The knowledge you seek can guide your first guardian."

Yan Fu opened his eyes. The system's voice was not loud or visible, yet its wisdom flowed into him like a calm river. He felt the past brush against his consciousness, fragments of a world long gone.

He bowed slightly toward Vorath. "Vorath, listen carefully. The sect you now protect was once a place of unparalleled cultivation and honor. Masters who soared to Celestial Realms walked these halls. But pride and betrayal allowed our enemies to destroy it. Disciples were scattered, treasures lost, and the pillars of the sect crumbled."

The black lion tilted its head, amber eyes gleaming like molten gold. The massive beast's silence was not empty—it was attentiveness, intelligence, and judgment.

Yan Fu continued, voice calm but resolute: "I do not know the full breadth of its past. I have only the fragments revealed to me through guidance and insight. But I know its purpose, Vorath. Ji Xia Sect must rise again, and you, its first guardian, will carry its strength and intent."

The cavern trembled slightly as Vorath rumbled, a sound that resonated with respect and acknowledgment.

Yan Fu nodded to the beast. "There is more. Another guardian must be found—one with purity in its essence. Healing, light, or water magic. Its presence will complement yours, bringing balance to the sect. Together, you will protect Ji Xia Sect, guiding its rise to glory once more."

Amber eyes flickered. Vorath stepped closer, massive claws scraping against the stone. Its tail swished with quiet deliberation, muscles coiled like springs. Without warning, it lowered its head slightly—a silent command.

Yan Fu understood immediately. He climbed onto Vorath's massive back, feeling the power coiled in the lion like a living mountain.

With a bound that seemed to ripple the very stones beneath them, Vorath leapt forward. The cave walls blurred as the black lion surged through the Forest of Yin and Yang. Its strides were impossible for ordinary creatures, each leap carrying them effortlessly through the dense forest. Trees bent beneath their momentum, shadows twisting around them like dark water.

Hours passed. The eastern part of the forest stretched endlessly, alive with divine beasts and spiritual energy. Then, a soft glow in the distance caught Yan Fu's attention—a structure built of divine energy, shimmering faintly amid the massive trees: a spiritual palace.

The guardian within radiated purity—calm, yet immensely powerful. Light, water, and life flowed from it like a living aura, judging everything around it. Yan Fu could feel its awareness studying him, weighing his intent and resolve.

Vorath's massive head shifted to look at him, amber eyes unwavering. It rumbled once, deep and low. "This is the one. Approach with wisdom, for brute strength will not suffice."

Yan Fu slid from the lion's back, landing softly on the mossy ground. His hazel-green eyes glimmered with quiet determination.

"One step closer," he whispered to himself. "The second guardian awaits. This will be different from Vorath… but Ji Xia Sect must rise, no matter the challenge."

And within the dense forest of Yin and Yang, the hum of spiritual energy rose as if acknowledging his intent—the rise of Ji Xia Sect was gathering momentum, and its second guardian was ready to test its future master.
