IVY
Kai's hand on her shoulder jerked Ivy awake.
"Now," he said. Not gently. Not like someone waking someone they loved. Like a commander in a war. "They're here. They came early."
Ivy's eyes snapped open. The small stone room was still dark, the sun not yet risen. But outside she could hear something that made her wolf go rigid with primal fear.
Howling. So much howling it sounded like the mountains were screaming.
She was out of bed and dressed before her brain fully caught up with what was happening. Three days. They were supposed to have three more days before the assault. Three more days to prepare. Three more days to figure out how twenty three people could possibly survive against three hundred.
But they weren't getting three more days.
