KAI
The impact came out of nowhere.
One second Kai was teaching Ivy how to channel her power. The next, her energy blast hit him like a truck and threw him straight through a stone wall. His ribs cracked on impact. His lungs emptied all their air. The world became pain and dust and darkness.
He landed in rubble. Cold stone. Sharp edges. Blood on his skin. He tried to breathe and couldn't. His ribs had definitely fractured. Maybe shattered. Everything below his neck screamed that he was about to die.
Then her voice cut through the haze.
"Kai. Kai, no, no, no, come on, stay with me."
Ivy was there. Crying. Actually crying like her heart was breaking. She dropped to her knees beside him, hands shaking so badly she could barely touch him.
"I'm so sorry," she choked out. Tears streamed down her face. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to, I lost control, I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
