Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

In the eyes of the three rabbit-lip boys, Gavo's speed was simply unbelievable.

Acceleration, sprint, jump, grab the edge of the pipe, then appear right in front of them.

She completed that entire sequence in what felt like a single instant.

If not for the fact that she had the same two arms, two legs, and small frame as they did, they might have suspected they were facing some horrifying alien creature.

"M-monster..."

Watching Gavo's movements blur with afterimages, the fish-eyed boy was filled with fear.

The droopy-faced boy on the other side swallowed hard and instinctively stepped behind the rabbit-lip boy.

In his eyes, only Fourth Bro could provide any sense of safety right now.

But very quickly, that sense of safety vanished.

Accompanied by a fierce gust of wind, Gavo's seemingly delicate body shot forward like a cannonball.

Though she was only a tiny little thing barely a meter tall, the fist she swung carried destructive force.

The rabbit-lip boy only felt his vision blur, and then his whole body flew backward.

Before losing consciousness, he saw Gavo's pale and tender right fist, as well as the spray of blood and shattered teeth flying out from his split lips.

Overwhelmed by intense pain, he entered protective shock.

The fish-eyed boy's already bulging eyes nearly popped out of their sockets from sheer terror.

The droopy-faced boy's sagging skin tightened under soul-deep fear, making him look like one of those wrinkled old Terra dogs.

Although both of them were around half a head taller than Gavo, under the filter of terror, her figure loomed over them like some giant monster.

As feral underhive children who had grown up amid constant beatings and street fights, they were not afraid of blood.

On the contrary, the smell of blood in the air usually stirred the cruelty buried in their scum-blood.

But the overwhelming combat power Gavo had displayed made it impossible for them to muster even the slightest thought of resistance.

They were like herbivores facing a natural predator, all fighting spirit gone, their bodies instinctively producing endless fear.

Droopy-Face reacted the fastest. With a thud, he dropped to his knees, pressing his forehead to the ground, and spoke in the most humble posture of surrender:

"We beg for your forgiveness. Please, be magnanimous and spare us."

After saying that, he immediately started slapping himself hard across the face.

The fish-eyed boy, who had frozen from fear, quickly snapped out of it, also dropped to his knees, and began slapping himself.

Smack, smack, smack...

The sound went off nonstop like firecrackers, entering Gavo's ears as her anger gradually cooled.

She tilted her head and looked at the two kneeling by her feet, and could not help finding it a little amusing.

But then she realized that this was precisely the survival wisdom of these young pieces of underhive scum.

Acknowledge your weakness and powerlessness. Throw away your dignity.

That was the simplest way to survive in the underhive.

On the other hand, there were also those scum who wanted to stand tall, but they usually ended up like that half-dead rabbit-lip boy over there, or worse.

"Take him and get lost... and remember, keep your mouths shut."

Gavo's voice, carrying a slightly crisp and androgynous tone, sounded out, and to the two boys whose faces were already swollen, it was like heavenly music.

She did not go any further. Instead, she simply watched them with an overwhelmingly oppressive gaze as they carried off the rabbit-lip boy and fled in panic.

"Tsk. I still couldn't hold back and ended up hitting them."

Gavo looked at her white, jade-like palm and subconsciously clenched it.

Just now, when she charged in and fought, she had felt herself enter a strange state.

She could sense what every part of her body was doing, and she could control each part to do whatever she wanted.

It felt as though every muscle in her body had become a line of data on a task manager, something she could monitor and control at will.

When she threw that punch, every single muscle fiber and every drop of blood flowing through her veins seemed to be in a perfect state.

And on top of that, time itself seemed to slow down in her eyes.

"Top-tier combat talent from Batman?"

"Oh, and Cold Resistance's bonus damage against minors..."

Gavo's eyes shifted slightly.

This really was using orphan powers to beat up orphans.

This had been her first real fight, and also a deliberate experiment.

Gavo had encountered enemies before, such as cleanup crews mad enough to venture deep into scavenger territory, and once even a vile lizard-creature that had crawled out from some unknown pipe.

But before this, she had always relied on speed and terrain to escape.

After this test, Gavo discovered something to her surprise.

She seemed to enjoy the feeling of fighting.

The trembling of bones, the acceleration of body fluids, the tearing of tendons, the pounding of her heart...

As well as the splattering blood, the broken teeth, and the enemy's cries...

All of it brought her a deep sense of pleasure from the bottom of her heart.

In simple terms:

Fighting felt great.

[Blood for the God-Emperor, skulls for the Golden Throne. Achievement completed: Warmonger.]

[Talent acquired: Tatakae. You possess an abnormal passion for battle. When immersed in combat, you will ignore the pain caused by physical injury.]

[Talent Tatakae has fused with talent Batman.]

[New talent acquired: Attack on Bat-Man. You possess top-tier combat talent and throwing talent. In battle, you will ignore all effects caused by injuries, and your wound recovery ability is enhanced.]

Talent fusion?

Gavo was extremely surprised by this system notification.

She had already realized before that some talents could complement each other.

But this kind of fusion was something she had never seen before.

"So not only do talents need to complement each other in function, they also need some specific kind of connection to fuse..."

Gavo thought for a moment, then the expression under her gas mask turned strange.

Then what connection did Tatakae and Batman have?

Was it because Wayne and Eren were both orphans?

"This system really does have a twisted sense of humor..."

Gavo thought helplessly.

"Ah, I wasted too much time. No, I need to hurry and keep running."

Noticing that the sky seemed to have grown dimmer, Gavo immediately threw all other thoughts out of her head and focused on running again.

...

On the far side of the garbage mountain, at a pipe entrance that was relatively clean, two thin figures dragged a half-dead body inside.

It was the rabbit-lip boy and the others.

After entering the pipe, they ignored the other feral children trying to mock their miserable appearance and quickly moved to a raised concrete platform, where they said in trembling voices:

"Boss! Fourth Bro got beaten up!"

The moment those words came out, the previously noisy pipe instantly fell silent.

All eyes turned toward the figure reclining sideways on the cement platform.

Clang.

Something dropped from the platform to the ground, making a crisp metallic sound.

The fish-eyed boy looked over, and his pupils immediately shrank.

It was a steel rebar that had been twisted into a spiral shape by bare hands.

After a long moment, the figure on the platform finally spoke in a low voice:

"Show me the way."
