Daniel laid motionless and scared like a deer caught in headlights.
He didn't understand how can a mere subconsciousness.
The figure that never got up from the throne.
Have such a dark and unsettling presence that dominated him in instant.
Dark Varun covered himself eith darkness again as shadows lurked beneath Daniel's body too.
Dark Varun:"Well, it's not like I care about what you did or not."
"I'll just take the memories you have."
"Since there's nowhere else for you to go anyway."
The shadow arms wrapped around Daniel's body and pulled him into the darkness.
Leaving him do nothing but—
Cry in fear.
Silence.
"Haa~"
"Pff– hahahaha."
"HAHAHAHAHA"
The laugh echoed in the room as Varun suddenly woke up on the bed.
He held his head and groaned in exhaustion.
Varun:"What..."
"Happened?"
Daniel was gone.
The inner darkness of Varun turned the predator into prey.
But—
"That was a weird dream."
Pause.
"Who was that girl?"
He doesn't remember anything.
like—
His consciousness became empty.
{Present day}
Dark Vash summoned the army of hundreds of zombies, skeletons and shadows.
Yet—
Varun stood in front with a smile.
Dark Vash clicked his tongue and clenched tightly around his blades.
He lunged forward in a blur of speed.
Varun didn't move at all.
He just.
Stepped aside.
Dark Vash stumbled in shock as he glanced at his side.
His eyes wide and confused.
While—
Varun's eyes glinted with darkness.
He stopped caring about the consequences.
He was just.
Enjoying the battle.
Dark Vash sliced through the air, pillars and walls with swiftness.
But—
Varun dodged all of it with simple movement.
Not because he knows his attacks.
But—
Dark Vash:"what the hell?"
"Your levels are locked, I am sure of that."
He stared in shock and sent the shadows to attack from his blind spot while the skeleton shot arrows at him from in front and the zombies lunged at him from all sides.
Varun scoffed and—
He materialized the demon slaying short sword and drove it into the floor.
[Explosive strike]
The blade absorbed the energy from the atmosphere and exploded.
The impact turned all the shadows, arrows and zombies into ashes.
Dark Vash opened his mouth but closed it again.
Silence.
Then—
"Ho– How?"
"Did you."
"Are you actually Becoming—"
"what we want?"
Varun lets out a amused scoff and looked right into his eyes.
Varun:"Nah."
"I don't waste time in becoming what anyone wants me to become."
"Even my parents never managed to do that, you might know that already."
"Since—"
"You're me."
Pause.
"Sorry."
"Not me."
"You're a imitation of what I wanted to be."
Dark Vash shudders.
Not from fear or sadness.
But—
Shock.
He started to laugh.
Slapped himself with the blade and kept laughing.
Dark Vash:"Nice, nice."
"Must have felt cool after saying that, huh?"
"So what?"
"That still doesn't change the fact,You could've saved her."
"That doesn't change the memories."
"That doesn't take away the blame that you give yourself about that day."
"You still feel that."
"You still want to kill those people, who did that dirt crime with her."
Silence.
Varun didn't say anything.
He just.
Gave a amused tilt of his head and—
Dark Vash froze right there as this time.
Varun laughed.
Loud.
Cold.
And—
Empty.
Varun:"Kill, huh."
"Who?"
Dark Vash pulled his hand down from his head and stared blankly at him.
Dark Vash:"What do you mean who?"
"Those bastards."
"Those criminal demons who rap—"
"Who did that dirt crime to her."
Varun narrowed his eyes and walked closer to him.
He was relaxed.
Like he knows.
That the opponent is no longer him.
But just a simple system NPC eho had one memory about his past.
Varun:"well, you just proved my point."
"You are merely an imitation."
"If you really were my subconsciousness."
"You would've already known that."
Pause.
He slowly leaned down to his ear.
"I tore them apart."
Dark Vash stiffened and elbowed Varun.
Sending him right on the wall that broke from the froce of impact.
The dust covered the place as dark Vash didn't waste time with talking anymore.
He sealed his mouth completely as his eyes started spinning.
The system codes flashed into his crimson irises as he kept throwing attacks one after another.
He was no longer a manifestation.
He was.
A war machine.
He slowly stopped throwing attacks after a moment and used his shadows to clear the dust and smoke.
As the dust and haze cleared away.
There was.
Nothing.
Just destroyed wall and pillars.
The blades all stuck somewhere into the wall.
Then—
Varun:"Yo."
Besides him.
On the throne upstairs.
Varun sat with his foot over knee.
"Missing me already? Aww."
He rubbed the blade on the armrest as the soft hum of vibration echoed through the room.
Dark Vash summoned two more blades and kept summoning zombies, skeletons and shadows.
He lunged forward and droved his blade into Varun's chest.
Varun:"keuk!"
Shock.
Pause.
Smile.
[Shadow embedded heart has been copied.]
The time seemed to freeze as—
The shadow inside Varun's chest suddenly twisted.
Blue darkness crawled up the blade lodged in his body.
Then—
A massive spike erupted outward.
Straight through Dark Vash's chest.
Silence.
Dark Vash turned into smoke and fell down to the floor.
After a moment.
He came out again with even more shadows and undeads.
And Varun.
Just leaned his elbows on his knees.
Dark Vash lunged forward with a blur of speed as the undead army lunged from all directions.
Varun scoffed and lunged at him too.
The impact of the collision erased all the undead from the room.
Varun pulled back and started barrage slicing on dark Vash.
Dark Vash blocked and evaded all the attacks as Varun realized that maybe he got the advantage of psychology but—
The level and stat difference is too much for going head on.
Varun kept slicing nonstop before throwing one blade at dark Vash's chest and use the other blade to cut him from the top.
Dark Vash deflected the thrown blade as Varun came above him with a downward slash.
Dark Vash brought his blade up to block him but—
[Weapon swapped.]
[King slayer.]
The short sword swapped with the massive sword and the impact broke not only a crater.
But the whole throne room.
Leaving nothing but a big sphere filled with dust and rubbles.
When the dust cleared away.
Varun had a blade pierced into his chest.
And Dark Vash.
The King slayer.
Was cleaved deep into Dark Vash's body, all the way to his hip
Leaving the right half of his body hanging sideways.
Varun vomited a mouthful of blood and Dark Vash started to break into fragments.
The sword slowly cleaved deeper and cuts through his body completely.
The blade in Varun's chest disappeared as the blood gushed out immediately.
The regen covered the wound as Varun fell to his knee.
Heaving and exhausted.
The dirt and dust covering his whole body.
After the intense breakdown.
There was finally.
Silence and peace.
The system window glowed a warm blue light on Varun's face.

"I am exhausted to bones."
"Well, atleast finally I can go home."
"After so many years."
He closed his eyes and exhaled.
He turned to look at the exit portal that was shining bright and humming harmlessly.
Varun lets out a soft chuckle.
"Haha, After spending so much time here."
"Even the most harmless looking portal feels like a death call."
He stood up and slowly walked upto the portal.
He clicked on the system screen as his clothes cleaned up and mask settled hard on his lower face with a zipper.
"Let's live as who I am from now on."
He entered inside.
And just as his foot stepped out again.
He was met with—
Destruction, red sky.
People running for their life and some people fighting monsters and trying to protect the civilians.
And—
A giant red eye in the place of the moon stared down at the earth.
He looked up and got only one thought.
"Mother fuck—"
