Xero was clenching his teeth too hard that they started to grind against each other.
But, just as he looked at the glaring admin, he clicks his tongue again and looks at his cards. The box throws another card to both vash and xero, this time giving a 8 of hearts at xero and a red joker at vash.
The screen appears again and says.
[Raise the bet: |____| / fold]
The card that xero had was less valued than vash's joker, so he got the betting first this time. xero types his bet and confirmed it.... He ignores it and types his bet,... An arm, he types it and clicks confirm.
But, the system doesn't accepts it and says.
[Bet something greater value than heart.]
Cash didn't say anything and just leans on his fist, resting the elboy on the table and types "brain".the system accepts it and the box throws another pair of cards. Giving out a King of black and a Ace of black to xero and vash respectively. The betting window appears on xero again since his card was less valued than his again, he types his bet and confirms it again.
Vash, stared at him and didn't say anything,... He can tell by the smile on xero's face... That he's bet something even bigger of his body organs... Vash, seemingly understanding the thing, bets nervous system as whole... And to his expectations, he was right... Xero had betted his whole skeleton body.
The box throws another pair of cards, this time with face down... And the bets got evaluated. Leaving both xero and vash betting away thier bodies,... Most of the new members were terrified and devasted as they seem to have lost or were near losing. Expect for the particular 4 people...the admin, the red haired man, the long haired man... And the pink haired girl.
Xero, however, was not in a very good shape... Because, when he looked down at his face up cards.. He realized about how much of a disadvantage he was in. But, he tried to stay calm while gritting his teeth along and turns his other three cards to face up,.. And to his luck... It was a full house, which brightened up his smile only for a few seconds before vash revealed his cards... Showing a complete straight Royal Flush.
Xero was stunned... Too shocked that his voice wasn't even coming out. He gulps and looks at vash, and out of everything in front of him... All his saw was, the frown of vash's mask, turning into a smile... It was just hallucination... But for him, it was like the truth... Vash puts his cards above the box and says.
Vash:"I know you're surprised by this..... Since you've never lost before, is that... But, that doesn't apply here... You might be thinking.. How was I so calm, even though neither of us had no idea about what our hidden cards might be... And raising the bets means risking more of my life."
He pauses, for a good half minute and then whispers especially for him alone.
"But,.. You see.... I changed our hidden cards when you were busy typing your bets~"
"Uh, and of course.... How was I sure that your hidden cards were good enough to make a draw in this round of match?.... Because,.... That's how you play,... Always ending the first match in draw... Making your opponent anxious and betting a organ which pushes them to bet something even bigger than that."
"Your plan was good... But."
He picks up the joket card and raises it up, rubbing the backside of it on the corner, it reveals a hidden "J" Glowing on it.
"You really set a good plan,... But, sorry to tell you,.... I never said I'll be playing fair anyway."
He said it calmly, so calm and soft.. That even a demon will get shivers hearing that tone.. And just like that... Xero slumped into his chair in proper fear and defeat... Vash clicks of complete match and... A hole opens beneath xero, making him fall inside,and just before falling completely...he looks at the little girl with pink hair...the hole closed as he was completely down inside. The box projects the screen again and says.
[Your reward will arrive after the roundtable event]
The admin looks at vash and narrowed his eyes.. It was clear that he didn't expect him to win in a single match, even though every table was set to have a draw in the first match, except for the draw game of 6 members. Out of which, only three had survived till now, the little girl won against the lady with black hair, who now fell inside a hole too.
She looked at vash's table and was stunned... More like heart broken and mumbled a single thing.... "Aki nii-... Chan?"... It wasn't a question, it was confusion... And listening to her words, it was clear that they were siblings. A single tear fell out of her eyes, down on her knee, and her name badge showed... "Opera".
Vash looked at her, not because she seemed to be broken.. But, because she called xero by his real name "Aki"... He don't know if it's his complete name or just a short for his real name.. But, the girl had changed her look of sadness into hatred, glaring at vash with cold rage in her eyes.
Vash didn't do anything and just let's out a sigh. Seemingly unbothered by a kids glaring.
On the other table, the man with long hair seems to have won, but the man with red hair didn't fell inside of the hole... He dodged it, before he could fall inside and says.
Red haired man:"Th-... You cheated, I had a complete flush, how is your straight higher than my flush?!... You might've cheated in some wa–!?"
He was cut mid way by the box on the table, as it suddenly shot in the head by it. A bullet pierced through his head which had came from a hidden hole in the box.
Vash turns to look at the draw game table again... Where only two members remained. They both had two cards now, the silver haired lady with a joker and a 10 of spades and the black haired man with a Ace and 2 of hearts.
He picked the 10 of spades from the lady's hand and was instantly called looser and fell into the pit.
Which left the roundtable smaller and with just 5 members remaining, including admin. They all came to the smaller table and sat around it. The box came out again and showed the screen saying.
[Second roundtable match: "continuity cards/draw cards.
Required players: 5/5 available.
Please continue the game.]
After showing the screen, it started throwing cards at each members, giving 7 cards, one by one to everyone.
All of them picked up their cards. Then, vash calls out to admin.
Vash:"Mr. Admin,... You said you all play only three types of poker..... Why is there a new one suddenly?... And, how do you play continuity cards in poker?"
Admin stays quiet for a few moments before smiling and says.
Admin:"uh, continuity cards is nothing but draw game... For example, one person is selected at random between us to start the game, and they can start from their left or right... After that the game will continue in circle from that direction only. You have to pick one card from the other person who's raising it up towards you, you can't show your cards to the person who's picking it from your hand... The person who's left with the most value card wins, and those who have left with no cards also win."
"Uh, and of course, you can fold if you want in mid game... This game has the most probability of making the players fold because you can bluff in this... You can lie about everything related to your cards.... So, try not to fall for anyone's words."
Everyone typed their bets on the screen and confirms it.
The admin then just picks up his and turns to his right, where the silver haired lady was sitting, who picked up the card from the left side, which was a 6 of diamonds and shuffled them together with her other 7 cards, which consists of 3 of hearts, 7 of diamonds,4 of spades, 6 of spades,king of red, Ace of spades, 10 of clubs and draws one card from the deck in the box,getting a 9 of clubs, and places it down with her 10 of clubs. She turns to her left, where the long haired guy was sitting, who picked a card from the middle, which was a king of red.
He sets his cards together and rearranged their position with his 7 of hearts, 8 of clubs, 5 of clubs, queen of red and black, joker of black and a 7 of spades and draws a card from the deck, getting an 5 of hearts, he puts it down with the 5 of clubs before turning to opera, who picked a card without even giving it a look, getting a joker of black.
She puts down her queens on the table.
She then turns to vash, who did the same as her and picked a card from the middle, getting the red joker, and places down a king and a queen of red on the table and turns raises his cards to admin. Who picks a card from the right, getting an 2 of clubs, he uses that and a 2 of hearts to place down on the table.
The game continues, but admin was mostly focused on vash, reading his every move like a eagle observing it's prey.
As the game went on, everyone was left with 4 cards, and suddenly the admin placed all his cards down, folding out of the game. All the three and vash looked at him. Opera, the silver haired lady and the long haired man looked at the admin in surprise, but vash, stared at him normally and suddenly.. Folded himself from the game too.
The three remaining stared at him and admin in surprise, but opera was enraged by vash folding out of the match.
The admin and vash got came out of the table and turned around, and before anyone could even react,... The base under the three of them playing opened, and they fell inside... But, the admin and the vash remained unbothered, like... It was expected to happen. Though, vash seemed to know what happened.. He can't help but remember opera's expression when she realised, that she's also falling into the same pit, as her brother. He didn't say anything and just walked forward with the admin, to the next table. Where they sat down, and this time... The box came out, and asked them to choose a game themselves out of the 6: "community cards, draw, stud, double concentration, simple deck and playing cards"
The admin stayed silent for a few moments and so did vash, both seem to be waiting for one to start talking as admin decides to start it himself.
Admin:"Zyric-ssi... You're not new here, are you?"
Vash kept silence, like, he had already expected that kind of question. The admin, taking his silence as a "no", decides to continue.
"It's not like anyone can just find our tricks right away,... You knew all the tricks we use, against xer-..or, should I say akihiro-ssi, you already knew that cards had a symbol telling which card is most value... And.. You also seemed to know that the first round was bound to be draw between you two."
"So,.... Zy–... No,. That's not even your name anyway...you're too cunning,or maybe that's an understatement, given that you are so observant, but acted like a complete newbie with no efforts,....Just,... Who are you?"
Vash let's out a long and heavy sigh like bored and says.
Vash:"Haaa~,.... Just, why do you think this is the first time I've played with you?"
